Im so mad about the last episode. I liked their story until the very end but man!! That bed scene was awful, no…
First of all, we see that kind of aggressive sex all the time in BLs. Secondly, do you lie around naked with your rapist making conversation afterwards?

Without spoiling too much I would 100% recommend NOT watching the final episode. It's disgusting
"disgusting." Oh poor Erin, having actually seen something dramatic, makes sure to let everyone know they are offended/appalled/horrified/whatever by the dramatic events they just saw and enjoyed.

Is this what China thinks of men on men relationships ? that's is borderline being forced and aggressive. ? I…
Just ask yourself if he would be lying naked in bed with his rapist making sweet talk after being raped. Then you'll have your answer.

whut?!this was so disgusting and weirdI don't need kisses or anything but why did they decide to give us that…
The only rape was in your head. LZM is a big boy and at some point clearly consented. Do you lie in bed naked, making sweet-talk with your rapist after being raped? I hope not.

Review In Your Heart
What show did you watch? This is a trope-filled waste of time. In the end, the story separated the lovers even though they "are irresistibly attracted to each other." Give me a break. If that's the case, why did CY fly off into the sky, refusing even to tell LZM where he is going. Is that how you treat people you love?

This is a classic, homophobic, monotonous and unoriginal piece of crap. 5/10.

So...no, this is bullshit. I am annoyed I allowed myself to be sucked into this show, given the fact it's from fucking China and in many respects poorly made. I was charmed by the charisma and chemistry of the two leads.

It is still hard for me to believe that NEW BLs simply use ALL of the same old tropes, cliches and plot points that have been used by 100 other BLs, repeating the formulas with a little extra of this or that so that we can just barely tell one show from the other. But as a writer and director, where is the natural artistic desire to create something UNIQUE? Even if you're in China. You could get a LOT more creative with HOW you use the tropes/cliches at least. But here they didn'e even bother once again.

Mom out of nowhere making demands.
Grandma dumping a guilt trip on CY.
CY ghosting LZM.
Actually planning to leave without communicating at all.
CY demanding answers to questions his behavior gives him no right to ask.
A plane taking off into the sky.
Studying "abroad."

These are the tired plot points of an ultimately homophobic form of story-telling that requires unhappiness or death for the gay lovers. It is sick.

Do Asian women/parents actually refer to themselves in the third person like that when talking to, or especially when guilt-tripping their offspring? It always strikes me as strange. Then there's the fact that it is always mom/grandma who do these things; the absent dad/grandpa aren't even mentioned.

5/10

I broke down and watched episode 8. Actually this is the best you can hope for from China. This is a watered down…
There was no rape in this show. Do you usually lay naked and entwined with your rapist in the melancholy afterglow of your rape? No. Clearly CY initiated aggressive sexual contact with LZM but LZM is a big boy too and at some point would have to have decided he wanted to do it too. What I don't like is CY's emotional cruelty in first ghosting, then trying to force LZM to confess and make love right before he leaves to go "abroad." The bastard won't even tell LZM where he is, for god's sake. Yes, it's a stupid Chinese cop-out as per usual, and I'm annoyed I let myself get sucked in. What a joke.

Yep, and episode 8 is not much of an improvement, cuz it explains nothing about that bizarre "I love you" from…
Yuck.

Title Our Days
lol From reading the comments here I expected to really hate this show, but figured why not check it out? There have been some odd vibes and bad writing and the usual freshman orientation/costumes/screaming queens/massive alcohol abuse/senior/junior lazy tropes we see in most Thai BLs (why I have no idea anymore), but I'll definitely move on to ep.2. I like that Soh is not the classic pretty-boy BL actor. I think the commenters below are right: Mon is depressed, not without a personality. LOVE the end of the ep of course, but looking back, why would someone be as upset as he was about a drunken you-know-what if he didn't find himself having liked it a bit?

The group of friends are amusing/interesting enough. And I liked one detail: either the actors were really drinking alcohol or some sharp makeup person or the director thought to redden the cheeks of Mon and Pond so they looked like they had actually been drinking. As Soh was dragging Mon off to bed, one of them shouted something in English in the most hilarious voice: I laughed out loud. lol I'll have to rewind that.

Soh has great legs.

Viki has ep. 7 up, it says there are subs but there are no subs. Reminds me why I dropped that subscription twice before. They have the ep plenty long enough beforehand to get the subs ready.

Oh, and CY's mom appears to be the same age as him. She must have been five years old when he was born.

Spoilers: (But its all so predictable that they're not really spoilers anyway.)

Wow. Episode 7 is certainly a drop-down from ep. 6, in writing/direction and plot. Scene cuts and lack of indication of time passages were weird. And then there is the utter, brainless repetition of plot devices/cliches/tropes we've seen a thousand times. Up to last ep. I didn't mind so much cause it was cute and low budget and great MC chemistry. But now we have first an unexplained fever and LZM lying in bed unconscious, a bed-bath, the usual pile of various medicines (but can we pause a moment to enjoy the glorious, sensuous sight of LZM's bare chest?!) and a jealous LXL saying to CY "you're not even a man." What fuck was that statement all about? He also has the hots for LZM, as do I so why would he say this weird thing?

The "coincidental" meeting of LXL and YYZ on the street immediately after was just dumb and the resulting exchange as bizarre as LZM's mystery illness, from which he recovered in one day, of course. Then we have the cliche absentee mom showing up after 12 years to say "goddammit, you're coming to Shanghai to live with me and that's final!" , like wtf? again. Then CY refuses to go and explains why beautifully. So naturally thereafter he ghosts his life-long friend and the man he loves and packs up for Shanghai anyway, after saying he would not do this. And, as usual, all of the departing party's clothes and belongings fit into one suitcase. lol

Such a disappointment from last episode.

I said the exact same things you said and did also mention that I loved Semantic Error meanwhile I don't like…
That's why I stay away from fan sites and Instagram and all the other venues for the fan madness. It's frequently said that people are ruder and more hateful now than years ago. I call bullshit. There have always been hateful, self-righteous assholes, bigots and psychos. The Internet amplifies their venom by a thousand. I am an OLD. When I was young we had entertainer crushes and we were super-fans of some performers more than others, whatever. But you talked about it after school and that was it. I couldn't go home, get on my phone or computer and go nuts obsessing about all of it, chatting and connecting with people all over the world in a bottomless echo chamber of love or hate aimed at artists and their fans. I'm glad that wasn't an option then. I don't think I would have handled the Internet well when I was young.

I think it has a good heart at its center, but yeah, everything else is extremely amateur-ish. Kind of like Bad…
I loved "Cherry Magic" until near the end when in my book it totally copped out. How can you make a show all about a magical power that manifests only if you are still a virgin at 30 and then NOT even hint at the main event: When the "cherry" gets popped? Seriously... IT is right in the title! The closest they got was showing them in the same room in bath robes. And no, a cherry-popping scene would not have to be explicit, it could be tender and beautiful and powerful, but to leave that out really dropped CM in my estimation. I wouldn't include it in my top 25, even though I loved it for most of its episodes.

What is a "manhwa?"
Thanks again, Katie, but I did remember that google is my friend and looked this one up. It is specifically a Korean word, right?

You're pathetic. Stop trolling you loser. Go watch your piece of crap that is Semantic Error and get the hell…
YOU ROCK. lol Have you been to the BL "Bad Buddy" comment page? It is a piece of crap that thousands of people (little girls) adore with every fiber of their being. I've left negative comments about everything I saw to be wrong with it and took incoming hatred right and left. I've grown on this site to where it doesn't bother me; I just try to make my insults more creative than theirs. :) I am a visual artist myself and a part-time, amateur actor and singer. I have done tons of live theatre. Everything you wrote above about performers and criticism is spot-on. As soon as an adult performer or maker of any art form puts their work and themselves out there, they have to be ready for the response, good and/or bad. That's just the way it is. And I loved what you said about that very "bad" as a source of inspiration and improvement for the artists themselves. How else would they improve and grow?

I do disagree that people are any more horrible now than at some other point in history. It's just that the Internet and SM amplifies the madness by a thousand times.

Like my beloved Taylor Swift (do NOT mess with my Taylor though!) sings: "Shake, shake, shake it off!" :D

The blood was very fake.
Pretty darn sure that was an artistic/stylistic choice rather than a mistake. The film didn't look so low-budget that the blood couldn't have been rendered in a realistic manner if that was the intent. Just like the fight scene at the end which was extremely stylized, so is the blood.

How? Is there ANY work of art that couldn't have been the teeniest bit better in some respect?
