Holy shit. This goes right onto my top ten favorite Asian, gay-themed flicks list. I absolutely love it. Just finished watching so I'm still all full of roiling emotions, but wow, this went to my gut. So many challenging characters that I liked but who frustrated me with their choices, especially our hero.
But who knew when I started watching that the scrawny, unique-looking Long would steal my heart away? My favorite scene in the movie, and all the scenes are perfectly crafted, is when Fei is at the bar and Long comes up behind him like a crazy person, dancing his happy, wild heart out and eventually gets the pouting Fei out onto the dance floor. Long's joyful love and energy and wish to see Fei happy is a beautiful thing to behold. The actor's emaciated frame made it a challenge to buy him as a successful moneyboy but I guess, if we're to believe what he showed the other hustlers but hid from us is as impressive as their reaction indicated, then size is all that matters. lol
It's actually quite normal in many languages, including Chinese, to refer to oneself in third person. Depending…
"takes one to know one..." lol Pathetic. That is something I stopped saying in fifth grade. And no, I never said what you quote above, not even close. Typical tactic used by flustered commenters: paraphrase another's words into something they never said, then act like it's a quote. lol I don't care what kind of life you have, but I know you'll live it as an arrogant, ignorant bigot.

I think it's time to call you a racist. You are racist toward white westerners and toward the people of your own part of the world. Do you think we in America and Europe are all exactly the same? Do you think Spain is just like the U.S and we all think and feel the same? The U.S. contains millions of Hispanics, Asians, African Americans, you name it, we got it. I already explained, but you are too stubborn to acknowledge, that "Asian" countries vary widely from each other, as do their cultures and people. Yet, you insist on pretending everyone in Asia is just like you. "we love and hate each other." You're a fantasist weirdo. I can't believe you even used the term "our kind." What a racist asshole you are.
I do believe Asian people, in general and taken as a whole and on average, are the most physically beautiful people in the world, especially Koreans and Japanese, though of course you think all of "your kind" look exactly the same so you probably can't even tell your family members apart. Handsome Asian men rock my world.
OK, now go back under your Asian racist rock, though how you fit under there with that giant racist Asian chip on your shoulder is beyond me to know.
Don't bother sending links. I have zero interest in anything a jerk like you would share.
This is in my top 20 favorite Asian gay-themed films. I cannot believe it doesn't get much more attention. It is awesome and the young man who plays Maximo is stunning. However, the actor's bio is confusing me, as it says he is now 42, which means he would have been 25 in 2005 when this film was made. There is no way the kid in the movie is 25. I am very confused.
I think it has a good heart at its center, but yeah, everything else is extremely amateur-ish. Kind of like Bad…
Boy, do I ever agree about Scud. Wish he'd put out fewer films and spend more time on each one. I like two or three of his but have dropped many. At your recommendation I will check out My Beautiful Man. Anything that stirs up the SJWs is worth a look! :D
Yes, love the Pornographer series of films. Do you know where it can be found with english subs? I have had no luck finding Pornographer: Playback. Mood Indigo, being the sexiest and most twisted, is my favorite.
You're pathetic. Stop trolling you loser. Go watch your piece of crap that is Semantic Error and get the hell…
F**k. I had just written this long-ish response to your thoughtful and non-hysterical reply, and was still working on it when somehow I deleted it. I haven't the heart to start over right now. :D So maybe I will make it back here to share some thoughts later on. Take care.
I said the exact same things you said and did also mention that I loved Semantic Error meanwhile I don't like…
"Like at this point idk what is considered okay by these people standards." lol Don't give it another thought. Who cares. All of this commenter/fan reaction we've been discussing it hella interesting though, just from a psychological/behavioral perspective. MDL is the first fan/audience site I ever took part in, and still the only one except for an occasional remark under a YT video. When I got here and started getting static when I dissented from worshipful comments on a bad drama or three. I got sucked in and wasted a lot of time replying which I wouldn't do now. But it's a growing experience. Frankly though, sometimes I do it mostly as an exercise in debate, semantics and creative insulting. :) I've found the most effective way to shut down a psycho is to just ask direct questions based on what they have written. So often most of what they write is born of wild assumptions and accusations of things I never even said, but that they imagined in their reflexive hysteria. :)
I guess I'm naive, but I've never understood why South Koreans treat and regard defectors from North Korea with such contempt and discrimination. I would think they would welcome them and be kind to them as escapees from that hell on earth north of the border.
The only rape was in your head. LZM is a big boy and at some point clearly consented. Do you lie in bed naked,…
You SJWs are so cute. You think that if you state your OPINION as fact enough times it will make it so. YOU think it's rape. I don't. My opinion is as valid as yours.
You're pathetic. Stop trolling you loser. Go watch your piece of crap that is Semantic Error and get the hell…
I will just say again that I completely disagree with you about "toxicity" and "normalizing" and all those SJW terms as applied to fiction. I don't look to BLs to teach me morals. Rape, murder, kidnapping and a thousand other dark things happen every day. I don't need GMM to tell me they are wrong, nor do I want everyone who does something bad in a drama to be "punished" for it as though I need that to reaffirm that what they did was wrong. Sometimes I want them to get away with it or benefit by it as a reminder that life isn't fair at all and can sometimes utterly suck.
I find the implication that "other" audience members, not as wise as you, need to be taught these moral lessons, lest they run out and start raping people as soon as the show is over, to be condescending. I thoroughly loved the dramatic arc in HIStory 4 CTY that brought the step-brothers from fear and guilt through drunken, confessional sex, all the way to reconciliation and happiness. I don't think for a minute that the hotel sex was rape. That word has been watered down to where it has no clear meaning anymore. What is wrong with "shuddering" at something that happens in a drama? That IS drama.
But I've been up and down and sideways on the "consent" highway with people who agree with you about sex and I've no desire to re-hash all that. Question: do you apply these standards to straight, non-BL fiction? Do you go to those comment boards and make these proclamations about morals? If not, why not?
There is an old Hollywood film about an Irish warrior of some sort back in the 1800s whose wife was brutally raped at their home while he was away leading armies or something. That scene was horrible and fairly graphic. When the warrior came home she was very pregnant. She told him what had happened and they agreed to keep and raise the child as THEIR own. The final scene showed them on their Irish farm, the three year-old, beautiful child running across the green grass into the arms of his "father." I have never forgotten how moved I was by that. But to you, does this plot-line endorse and condone brutal, vicious rape because no one was line up and "punished" for it? Actually, the beautiful boy is a clear GOOD that came from that terrible violation. Does that mean the film maker is encouraging the rape of other people's spouses? If not, why not?
You seem to think a tragedy can only be done well if it is done YOUR way.
I said the exact same things you said and did also mention that I loved Semantic Error meanwhile I don't like…
Just late last night I was personally insulted in a nearly-incoherent rant responding to my assertion that "In My Heart" took a severe downward turn in ep. 7. This person felt that my objection to absentee moms and awful grandmas laying guilt trips on their kids to go to school where they want them to, get married and have kids when they want them to, never mind that they're gay, etc. was an attack on the whole of Asia. As if you can lump all those countries together into one, to begin with.
I'm not as mature as you; I told the commenter to piss off.

Why do idiots try to sound like formal Englishmen when they run scampering away because their lame asses have nothing useful to add to their former bullshit? "Good day to you, sir!" lol
I don't care if your family is Martian, you have serious self-awareness issues along with anti-Western bigotry and a willingness to defend the indefensible simply because it comes from what you perceive to be "your" culture. China is NOT Taiwan and there is a world of difference between the two or did you not know that either?
Finally, it is hysterical that you take offense to my insults directed at you when your original comment to me was almost nothing BUT insults. Oh your poor hurt fee-fees.
I know a LOT about Asian culture, btw, more than enough that to know it's not valid to use that term to lump all Asian cultures into one monolithic lump of sameness. Gosh, do you think North Korea is identical to Japan? Or China the same as the Phillippines? Then there's Thailand, which to you is probably exactly like Vietnam. Let's not forget South Korea, which is of course exactly like Hong Kong. Get a grip.

You know what? Just straight-out piss off. You're an ass. What does CY have to feel guilty about? What did he do wrong that justifies his absentee mom and pathetic grandma guilt-tripping him into all of a sudden heading for Shanghai to live with the bitch. MOM is the one who should feel guilty.
I think you might be a little unbalanced. Who do you want to make an apology? What straight people? You can't write for shit and you've got cultural issues that have nothing to do with me, so take your rant and shove it.
And yes, China churns out homophobic BLs by the dozen. This is news to you? Christ. Oh, sorry...I mean Buddha.

I take a dump on your Asian antiques.
