I thought it was good too...the ending is ripe with possibilities. And the way Mew reached out with the text photo…
Well, except that there is no way to know if any of what you say is true, because whatever happens from the end forward is up to them and is as I wrote, "ripe with possibilities."

There is NOTHING in the ending that makes anything you wrote here inevitable. Dew could tell his parents to stuff it, he's going to school in Bangkok. The two of them could take off for wherever they choose and begin another life together. They could see each other surreptitiously for the next four years of college and then get together at that point to live together.

Again, there is no reason the depressing ending HAS to be what happens. It takes place only in your imagination, as does mine and one is not more valid than the other. It is only what YOU foresee because of your mind-set and possibly your own life experience as you have described elsewhere on this thread.. I and many others foresee something entirely different and more positive.

It's interesting: You see that ending as a door slamming shut. I see it as a big, beautiful set of French doors swinging open wide to a an endless world of possible happiness. Maybe I'm not as depressed as I think I am. lol

If I see fern it’s on site
lol That whole arc was well-written to deceive us into thinking she was going to handle her knowledge with respect and compassion and keep her mouth shut. oops, wrong.

I think the ending is misunderstood. I was all ready to go ballistic on the last episode for spoiling things badly,…
Wow. This is EXACTLY my interpretation, which is why I am not angry or despondent at the ending, because I see it as open-ended. F**k those manipulative Thai parents. I hate them. And Fern can burn.

Okay guys, hear me out. Fern might be a snake but gosh, she's a beauty!
I hate her but totally agree. They had her made up to look as plain as possible, but wow, those huge eyes and beautiful lips could not be missed. I'd love to see her in full makeup.

Very awful. Just a waste a time. It was mainly a push for War song. Don’t bother watching. This doesn’t bold…
The ending is wide open, and there's lots of way-above-average acting in those three episodes. The disappointment is that the writers and director went with such evil-vengeful- straight gril and bitch mother tropes in the end. But that text/Photo said a thousand words.

How could they end it like that!! I mean what a selfish, homophobic mother telling her son she doesn't want him…
But that's what BL bitch mothers always do. Which disappointed me, because this show was quite a step above the average BL so I was bummed that it went with the awful mother and the vengeful straight girl.

The answer to most of your questions, sadly, is "BL trope." People are forever walking away silently and broken rather than say something. I mean at that point you have nothing to lose; your heart is already breaking so what diff does it make if you get trampled? At least you tried. But to me the ending is wide open...the very last thing was that text/photo and it spoke a million words.

On The Best Story Jul 24, 2021
Good god, the subs on YT kept cutting out at crucial times, and the writing on the shirts was not subbed. Where can I go to see those? Any help? I got the gist of what was going down, I think, even at the end, but it was annoying af.

MILD SPOILERS:

Best has the two best straight friends a gay boy could have.
I was sad to see Fern go psycho-evil-bitch after at first seeming to handle herself well at the crucial time. Such a BL cliche that this show should have risen above. She was especially hateful in that she told Dew's mother about Best even though she knew Dew was never going to choose her as a GF. She did it out of pure spite. And acted conflicted the whole time, as though she wasn't sure what she was doing. Please, bitch.
And seriously, yet ANOTHER homophobic, manipulative bitch mother who sends the gay kid off to another city as though there are no gay people in Chiang Mai or wherever? Really? Wanted to slap her. Those kinds of parents would not have dealt well with me. At Dew's age I would have told them to f**k themselves, I'd go to work and put myself through community college before I'd let them fuck me over like that. And I wish a BL would be written where the kid does that. Just up and says "f**k you, I'm out. I don't want parents like you." And who knows...maybe that's what Dew ends up doing...the ending is far from conclusive. Which I didn't mind, actually, as the momentum at that point seems to be going Mew/Best's way.

Now, will someone tell me what was written on the back of Dew's shirt and Best's shirt by Mew?

Most importantly, I'm pissed they cut off Din's pony tail. He rocked that mofo. However, I'm pleased to see him stagger to Than's place after that beating for the inevitable shirtless wash-cloth bath and application of "medicines."

The whole mafia/extortionist/criminal side of this story is terrible. If I tried to say why, this comment would be unreadably long. Maybe someone else can tackle that.

I do enjoy all the dudes going gay for sleepovers and Mong telling that girl he was gay and the teacher dude is his BF. lol Hey, if the teacher doesn't want him, I'll be happy to take Mong off his hands. BTW, the straight girl is pretty funny. I have to admire how she took Mong's coming out as a challenge, not a defeat. lol

I can't figure out if the chubby cute child is a boy or a girl or transgender. Maybe that's the point. :D

WHY OH WHY are so many BL sets, inside or out, lit up like a super bowl night time game?

Wow, really? It's a BL; of course it's a school drama. :D But it's much more than that.
I'm curious as to why you would watch just the last episode of a ten-hours long series. Doing so would make me crazy; I'd be wondering what the ehll went on in those other nine episodes. lol I'm sincerely asking.

I’ve heard that a couple of LBC actors, Mean being one of them, heavily bullied Earth for being gay. After it…
You humble me with such a thoughtful comment/apology. Entirely accepted and I apologize too for my hot-headedness, which is legendary. lol I can be more than a bit of a smart-ass too, but I don't usually try to temper it much as I don't really do comment boards to make friends, but to express my opinion and learn from the comments of others. And I completely get that sometimes we learn the most from those we agree with the least.

I really do not do social media much, except for FB and that's limited to promoting my work for the most part. I like to take in dramas/comedies with as little pre-prejudice one way or the other about who thinks or said this or that behind the scenes, because I like to come to the work with as clean a mental slate as possible. In other words, I try to let the work speak for itself as it is on the screen, without background noise. Hope that gives you an idea of where I'm coming from.

Part of why I jumped down your throat is that so many horrible, harmful, abusive lies and insults and vicious untruths are spread on SM every day that it's appalling. So I require rock-solid PROOF before I believe much of anything I hear. People don't hesitate to take their personal interpretation of someone else's words and repeat that interpretation as FACT. I hate that.

Wow. Over-act much? In that last scene I thought Uenoyama's neck veins were going to explode and his nostrils split wide-open from all that hyper-flaring. lol But you know, even given that, somehow it worked and fit the overall vibe of this show, which is more than a little dark and weird.

Love the band-dude leaning against the lamp post at the end, smoking a cig and murmuring mysterious words...lol. This is so very Japanese and I love it. I love how so often they speak in harsh, declarative, aggressive tones, even as they reveal tender or vulnerable, loving emotions. I do not know WHY I love that so much, but I do. Most of all, I love when they bow to show respect, apology, longing, utterly submitting themselves to the other person. I find it so touching

Not sure why our young novice, who does have a powerful, nice voice, finds it necessary to SHOUT rather than tone it down a bit, but maybe that will be made clear. I laughed a little when Uenoyama quietly asked him to sing again on the sidewalk and Satou started bellowing again, his voice echoing off the skyscrapers three blocks away. :)

Interesting show.

what did mean do?.. where can i find more on that
I love a lot of what Dan Savage says and has said, but I disagree with plenty of it too. This comment will be short because I seem to finally be learning, at long last, that people like you (speech police, etc.) are not ABOUT to consider the perspective of someone else. To do so would threaten their/your dead-right feeling of self-righteousness.

But do try to absorb this concept: Just because YOU and Dan Savage say "c**t" is misogynistic and irredeemable as having any other meaning in any other context, does not magically make your opinion into a FACT. You provide a great example when you used the term "queer" above. I would guess it's been reclaimed by the gays from the straights and turned from a prejorative term into a word used with pride. Yet every time I hear it I feel a twinge of ugliness and shame because I grew up with that word being the gay equivalent of N****r and I still don' want to hear it. There are a lot of people like me. Yet you feel free to use the term without regard to the feelings of other gay people like me who don't like it.

So go ahead and use it. I don't like it, but I can't stop you and won't try to. Thus I use c**t, very sparingly, I might add, because it IS a very powerful term at this point, and your feelings about that word are not relevant to me. However, maybe we can make a deal: I'll stop using the c-word if you stop using "queer" as a neutral or positive descriptive. I don't think you'll agree to that, though. So go ahead, enlighten me: Why is using the word "queer" so important to you?

Finally, if you really think straight people have stopped using "gay" as a generally insulting term, you are living in a fantasy world. For the most part, no one is going to shame them for doing so either. There is an endless sea of American anti-gay bigots out there whose homophobia exists in their DNA. Nothing you or I can do about it, either.

Edit: oops! Guess I accidentally lied about this comment being short.

Why would I curb my temper? I'm not angry. Accusing another commenter of being overly emotional or out of control is a common tactic intended to disqualify; it's not working. Why would I ask politely? Your accusations here are FAR from polite. I don't follow social media in general, so no, no need to cut back.

Try harder.
