Title The Yearbook
Is it that interview that's got everyone so worked up? There was some other controversy about Title and other…
OK, well, I just disagree pretty much across the board, so I'll leave it mostly at that. Our background and DNA give every one of us a different perspective from which to observe a shared work of art, so we're all going to react differently.

I keep hearing about scenes that "go on too long." I LIKE those scenes. The train-track scene was my favorite so far. I felt NO urgent need to move things along; I was soaking in the calm, simple BEING of that scene. Why did it need to be rushed?

And as I said above, I LOVE sad and dark. That's how I lived much of my life so I have a comfort level with it. Many closeted young gay men are somewhat depressed; why wouldn't they be? It sounds like you were not and that's great, but that's not the story being told here. To me, Nut IS somewhat depressed and living in his head because he's not able to fully and openly be who he is.

To me, the plot is right in the middle of the "furtive love" you experience at that age. They are both so afraid of it, especially Phob, that it hasn't cracked the surface, but man is it ever churning just below and judging from the preview to the next ep, may be about to "spew" like Old Faithful. :)

I feel the opposite about Mean here: He has tackled some serious subject matter and is doing well with it. How do you know he hasn't experienced any of this himself? He claims to be straight? I don't know...I mostly make a point of not following social media. LOTS of actors and others in creative industries, especially in mostly conservative Asia, LIE like dogs about their sexuality to protect their careers.

I think it's fair to wonder what keeps Mean coming back to BL/gay material if he is not gay or bi? If he wants to expand his repetoire, then why isn't he doing that? Being those things is not a negative to me so I have no problem asking that question.

Title Light on Me
This series is way too full of tropes and cliches - it's starting to make me actively dislike it. I can live with…
Well, of course it's better to be "too giving" than to be "a jerk." But isn't that a false/extreme choice? There is an entire range of behavioral choices between those two polar opposites. Yeah, if he would just honestly tell So Hee she's a trouble-maker and a shit-stirrer and he doesn't like her as she well knows, she would POSSIBLY stop coming around to be a bitch to everyone. But that's another choice he refuses to make.

I love TK the most. He is made-up, I agree, to look somewhat like a little cyborg, and definitely leans that way in his behavior and mannerisms. BUT many little glimmers of humanity, humor, sadness, disappointment, excitement bubble through that stiff exterior and I find them charming. To me, it indicates there is MUCH more going on in his head and heart than he is willing to reveal.

There is an old book from the 70s, I think, called "Stranger In A Strange Land." I sometimes wonder if his character is at all based on the title character in that novel, a visitor from another planet who gradually learned the good and the bad about being and behaving as a human.

This is exactly why I stay away from social media and other BTS bullshit/hype/rumors. You just dropped a load…
lol I laugh and point at you. Maybe just maybe the other person is full of it and not providing links because they are more interested in promoting a narrative they've made up than they are providing facts, which yes, you're too lazy to do and because what Mean actually said and what you're accusing him of are two different things. But you're the type who won't let that get in the way of a good fantasy.

Finally, I do NOT owe politeness to anyone on the Internet just because they're here. Courtesy and respect must be EARNED by one's behavior. You deserve neither.

Wow, really? It's a BL; of course it's a school drama. :D But it's much more than that.
If you don't like ITSAY to begin with then you're probably not capable of comparing it objectively to another series. I also don't agree with this pretense that there is some bright line between BL and gay-themed drama. BLs ARE gay-themed dramas, but sure, not all gay-themed dramas are BLs. But it's entirely possible for one show to combine elements of both.

I’ve heard that a couple of LBC actors, Mean being one of them, heavily bullied Earth for being gay. After it…
No...you see, when YOU make accusations, it is on YOU to provide evidence, not me. Since you finally provided a link...I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be worked up about. Get a sense of humor and quit looking for outrage under every rock.

Oh, and consider cutting back on social media consumption. I'ts not good for your health.

Like I said, you're really enjoying your faux outrage...yet again today! Good for you. All your BL about how other people should feel when they hear or see certain words is laughable. Who's "whispering?" I just don't want to get kicked off the comment board by speech-police site monitors like yourself? If YOU think "c**t" is the equivalent of homophobic slurs, then that's fine but I disagree with you. The word has evolved into a very powerful, hard-core put-down, and if you aren't aware there are many other words like that, which now mean almost nothing having to do with their original definition, then you're just willfully ignorant.

It's like most other things: If you don't like the word, don't use it. But when you tell others how to speak, expect to be mocked and ignored.

YOU are clearly on a mission of your own: to make accusations and throw aspersions that are not supported by fact. I am reacting to that. Try answering my question: Mean is directing and acting in another BL, THIS ONE. How is he homophobic and anti-gay in so doing?

It is not "tone and thought policing" to call people on false statements and deliberately misleading shade-throwing, which is apparently what you think you specialize in. If anything, you might call it "reality policing."

Just watched the interview clip with Mean...THAT is what people here are worked up about? His statement about being old and poor before coming back to BL was clearly meant as a joke. That's why he, you know, LAUGHS after saying it. He's an actor who doesn't want to be type-cast as only playing gay characters. How is that hard to understand or accept? He also said that was his decision "FOR NOW..." which indicates he could change his mind.

This is exactly the sort of thing people who WANT something to be offended and outraged about use to feed their desperate imaginations. For god's sake, he is DIRECTING A BL. How homophobic and anti-BL can he be? BL comment sections are bat-shit wild sometimes.

I'm glad for the excuse to watch him on video again though....SO handsome in such an interesting way.

"BL community." lol LGBTQ+ community" lol I guess I live in both of those communities, and I have yet to receive my instructions on how I'm supposed to think exactly like all the OTHER millions of people who live in those communities. Provide some links for your accusations or stop casting aspersions on people.

it's a shame the promotions for this drama are focusing on mean instead of the actors.....
He is WELL-KNOWN as a former BL actor. OF COURSE the promo is going to focus on him. I was watching this anyway, but when I saw that Mean was directing, THAT got me excited to see what he had come up with.

Links, please. Where do people like you get off just making statements like this with zero supporting links? I can't wait to hear how "ableist" New is...hahaha And come on, Krist has had his tongue down another dude's throat a few times so how homophobic can he really be? Evidence please.

You're really enjoying your outrage, aren't you. lol Really bathing in it...somehow you've dragged Black people and the n-word into this. I mean, those two things are entirely out of place of course, but whatever it takes to accuse another person of as many social crimes as possible, am I right?
