You don’t just put Wayne Song in as a cameo and expect me to be okay! He played one of my favourite BL characters…
What was the character? What a handsome guy.

It's confirmed that I'll be sad in both cases if Tae Kyung ends with Shin Woo or Da On. Cause they both love him…
Daon is not yet capable of authentic love.

Ep 10 was painful to watch, I don't really understand myself watching it, until the end, it was very rustrating,…
Your comments are so interesting to me. You and I perceive things from almost diametrically opposed perspectives. Lee is a brilliant actor, portraying a very difficult to convey character in a very sympathetic light. Daon is at least as robotic as TK; he just hides it under a false front of jovial people-pleasing. There really ARE people out there brave and strong enough to not care what society's inhuman demands want to make them into.

I think it is your Korean heritage, that psycho-conservative, inhuman cultural baggage everyone carries around in that country, that so colors your take on this series. To some extent I understand: I grew up and live in the U.S. but about 25 years ago I started realizing how full of shit its cultural, religious, moral, militaristic traditions were and i began trying to actively think more for myself. I don't consider myself an American, I am a citizen of the world. Of course I've been greatly shielded in some ways by my life here, in other ways not. But I read you denouncing your country's culture in a lot of ways, and then turning around and defending it in the next breath.

You'll take this as an insult, but it's not meant as one because I do it myself: Try thinking from the perspective of a HUMAN BEING, not a KOREAN. Your pain and struggle in some of your comments often cause me to wonder why you keep watching BL. You don't seem to care for most of it, and you don't HAVE to watch it, you know.

I felt so bad for Daon this ep, he didn’t deserve that. And it must be really hard for him to deal with that…
What is it he doesn't deserve? It's not just "gossip," its the TRUTH. Daon DOES have feelings for TK, it's not a lie to say so. If he had any courage at all, he wouldn't be allowing himself to be made a victim.

What have you seen in her character that would prevent you from believing So Hee will go as low as however required to accomplish what she wants. To me, she is bordering on mentally ill. Daon has been brushing her off for THREE YEARS, that's a long time in the life of a teenager, and she STILL is obsessed with him and thinks she stands a chance. And the vicious way she insulted TK and spoke to Shi Woon in this episode...wow. She's one of the most spiteful bitches in the history of BLs.

I detest people like Daon. Every breath he takes is a lie. His thank yous to TK for that bracelet were a lie; you saw how brutally he ripped it from his wrist. His affections for TK are/were real, I think, but his willingness to be honest about them was a lie; you saw how he jerked free of TK when the two other students walked into the council room. Daon is as fake as people get and I don't understand the soft spot a lot of people here have for him. OK, if you want to be in the closet and can't deal with being gay, go ahead, but don't toy with other poeple's feelings along the way. And his fondness for conservative society's hypocrisy is revolting. yeah, yeah, this is Korea, whatever, doesn't make anything I wrote here less true.

First off, I don't care what anyone says, Namgoong is by far the BEST character of this entire series. There's…
I'm not as sure as you...I could totally see Daon going full-on closet-case and locking the door behind him. You saw how quickly and brutally he TORE off the bracelet, and the vehemence with which he pulled TK's hand from his arm when those two douchebags walked into the council room. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Daon go after So Hee as a willing beard, even to the point of marriage and children. It won't be until he's around 40 years old that Daon will start to fall apart from the psychological torture of living a 24/7 lie.

At long last: Daon exposed as the spineless, plastic, conformist cyborg he is!
Shin Woo makes my heart ache. No, seriously...almost every scene.
TK is like an automaton with a keen nose for bullshit. Love him.
So Hee is almost Satanic in her hatefulness. Can't wait to see her exposed and burned at the stake. You know she sent out the "Daon is gay for TK" messages/pics.
Shi Woon is a God. Love when he confronted So Hee about her...self. Don't remember what the subtitles were at the exact moment, but for a split second I thought I read "So Hee...you are a bitch." My heart soared, but it was not to be. By this show's standards though, he came close.

I almost, almost...feel badly for So Hee and Daon. They are such awful people that they probably went through hell to end up so twisted with hatred in her case, and fear in his.
Shin Woo feeding the mystery animal was to die for. But...maybe he planted himself there to be spotted by TK and made the entire feeding the animal story up to charm TK. :)
That high school is creepy: There is never anyone in the hallways other than the actors being shown playing a scene. It's like a haunted morgue inhabited by slow-walking robo-humanoids. Seriously, have you noticed how slowly they all walk?

Maybe this series will turn out to have been some sort of ground-breaker or iconic BL. There's this slow, disturbing undertone throughout...I find myself feeling not-so-vaguely uneasy during every episode, as though something sinister is going on and I'm not sure what it is.

It's the second link I sent you above. Here it is again:

And keep your eyes peeled, because someone very dear to us both is ALSO in this group, THE MAN BLK. At first when I watched again I couldn't believe my eyes, so I checked a certain profile above and sure enough...it's him! The one and only...(I'll let you figure it out.) lol He looks totally different and one hundred percent better. Judging from his stage performance I may have to upgrade my opinion of him as an actor now. Let me know what you think.

Oh Jesus. And what is the percentage of people who are bi or pansexual? I'll tell you .7% self-identify as bi…
Yeah, yeah, we're all Pan, Bi and Ace now. Don't forget a-romantic. lol Whatever you need to believe. Meanwhile, when most people see two guys holding hands for an extended period while murmuring sweet nothings to each other, most people will continue to assume they're gay. And most of the time they'll be right. And if they turn our to be pan, or bi or ace or alien or whatever the latest trend is...so what?

Why do you watch BL? it's about, you know, gay guys. Good chance to whine about non-representation in comments? lol

Those wouldn't be carefully selected studies you already had in your computer, would they? I hope so, because if you really just took all that time to look up a bunch of random studies for an argument with an anonymous dude on the Internet, your life is sadder than mine. lol

BTW...I'm not looking these up. Do you have any numbers before it became trendy to claim to be bi or pan?

Wow, thanks for all that perspective on Korean pop culture and the significant impact it has on the overall vibe of this show. I have watched quite a few Korean gay-themed feature films, in fact I think my top three or four favorite gay films are Korean, which after reading what you have to say, is kind of surprising as all the films I like are very gritty. They are NIGHT FLIGHT, NO REGRET, and A FROZEN FLOWER. But there are several other gay-themed Korean flicks that are gritty and engaging. Believe me, I don't like super-duper clean, neat, happy movies or series. ETERNAL SUMMER is another fave, but it is Taiwanese.

I am a big fan of the late singer Jonghyun and of Jonghyun-era SHINee music. I have read a lot about the horror story that is the K-Pop industry, how it treats its idols, and on and on...it's horrible. I think the cut-throat quest for an antiseptic version of "perfection" is something that helped drive Jonghyun to suicide. Partly for that reason, SHINee and Jonghyun are the only acts I pay much attention to. I can't square giving my support to such a monstrous group of companies as those K-Pop production companies.

I also hear the vicious, demanding, cruel and demeaning tones of the Korean language itself when directed at a character in Korean films or series. Someone who is being accused of something, or being told they have failed or are worthless and should die, should never have been born...never have I heard such sentiments sound so ugly as in Korean.

But I guess I hear you saying that even if BL becomes more and more acceptable in Korea, we shouldn't expect any depth or grit and sexual content for a long time to come, as those aren't likely to come out of one of the soul-less production companies. Is that right?

What makes you think I don't like bisexuals? I'm a little bi myself. Not much, but a little. I don't feel the need to exaggerate, however, the number of other people like me. Oh, also, can you point out to me where I wrote that "bisexual people do not exist?" Oh, also too, can you provide links to all of YOUR studies showing these "not insignificant" numbers?

Totally agree. The bowl haircuts these guys usually sport is probably supposed to make them look younger and more school-ish. Even worse is the orange dye/rinse they gave him.

Did you watch the MV? lol

Actually, I looked at four different surveys and averaged them I'm sure we could find a survey proving the Earth is flat too.

You should always answer the phone when the caller ID says "REALITY." It's the prudent thing to do. I'm pointing out that your "suggestions" don't count as facts.

And can you pick him out of this crowd? : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y1DZots0mks It's one of those K-Pop groups with twice as many members as it needs, but sure enough, there he is. Not much prettier a picture than a bunch of handsome Korean men in black leather.

lol Love your shamelessly shallow, and honest!, ranking criteria for BL actors.

It feels counter-intuitive, but for some reason I suspect Shi Woon has a nice body. I get a chubby vibe from him but I don't think he really is...chubby. He's also the type of personality in a male that overcomes a lot of potential physical shortcomings for me.

Back for a second watch.

It's taken me a year to come back and watch this a second time because I have such a vile taste in my mouth from the ending. I watched it during the first couple of weeks I discovered BL and that ending wrecked me. Such an ugly cheap-shot. This time around I know exactly where to stop watching so as to prevent a second trauma. I rarely recommend this series even though I think 90% of it is one of the best BLs there is, precisely because of that ending. If you order creme bru le' for dessert and 90% of it is scrumptious but the last bite consists of a dog turd, what rating would you give it? It gets a 5/10 from me.

I am NOT someone who believes all BLs or any other genre of series or movies need to end happily, that would be boring, but this one was SO stupid, pulled-out-of-the-ass, and slapped on just for the cruelty of it, that it pisses me off to this day. I believe the writer and director have serious issues with homophobia and the conviction in their DNA that gay people deserve only tragedy, regardless of what happy-talk they may use to say otherwise.

GREY RAINBOW and LOVE OF SIAM: Two of the worst cheap-shot endings of all BL time.
