hey, i am kinda intrigued to watch the movie after reading the summary however one of the tags says gore and im…
Maybe about a 3 or 4? There are only a few 'gory' scenes tbh. Keep in mind I've seen so many movies I'm desensitized to a lot of stuff including gore, so while I may consider this film not very gory, others who aren't used to seeing it might think otherwise. If you can get past the autopsy scene at about the 14 minute mark then I think you'll be good with the rest of the film :P
Okay this one caught me off guard which is hard to do because I've seen so many movies I'm pretty good at predicting where they're heading. I was getting frustrated with its somewhat slower pace but my patience was definitely rewarded. Great film! Go watch it :)
I tend to like darker/grittier stuff so I might be a bit biased in saying I liked this film. If you end up watching this, don't try to understand it. Just take it scene by disturbing scene and enjoy Lee Byung Hun's amazing abs and penetrating stares :D
At first I was like, 'Oh no not another movie about a dude falling for the girl he's hired to watch,' but the film took a surprising turn in the later half which I really enjoyed.
I didn't finish reading the synopsis posted on this site btw because I had a feeling it would give too much of the plot away, and I was right! I'd say to enjoy this to its fullest, don't read the synopsis.
wait! can you please spoil me the ending? i honestly don't want to watch it if it has a sad ending!
That's what makes this story so sad and other stories like it; the loss of time! Even if they did end up together 30 years later, even if they spent each day trying to be happy, there's nothing that can make up for all the years they lost. Makes me question if everything is really better late than never.

So Birdy goes off to college or something and never sees Chang Jia again, obviously breaking Chang Jia's heart. 30 years later they meet up again and Birdy admits he actually really loved Chang Jia all the time when they were younger. Chang Jia invites Birdy into his hotel room, Birdy refuses and they walk down the street together. VERY ambiguous, but it seems to me like they don't end up together afterall ಥ﹏ಥ

I wouldn't say the ending is sad, just very ambiguous. The sadness already happens just before the ending when they are younger. It's a lovely film, but if you don't like to feel sad/frustrated then maybe you won't like it. If you don't wanna watch it still and just want the spoiler I'll give it down below.
Theres what you call chemistry between actors and chemistry between characters. The thing about CM is that these…
Ah, I didn't know this was filmed in only 2 months! That's not enough time at all for the actors to build a stronger relationship that will show on camera. I did see a little bit of chemistry between Adachi and Kurosawa at times, like with the scarf incident you mentioned. Obviously if they had NO connection that played well onscreen they wouldn't have been cast together. I've seen so so many romantic movies so I can tell right away from the first few seconds of seeing two people on screen if they have that deeper connection. One example is a movie I just watched called Your Name Engraved Herein. Even before they showed any physical intimacy between the two ML's I could tell the actors had huge amounts of chemistry. Cherry Magic was definitely lacking in sexual tension, but I don't think that alone is the reason. The creators obviously wanted it that way so I respect their decision.
Okay so this movie was just as soul crushing as I thought it would be... I’m gonna go sit in a corner and try to remember this is only a movie. Oh wait I can’t because apparently it is BASED ON A FREAKING TRUE STORY. RIP my good mood ಥ_ಥ
It's interesting that you say you felt like there was more chemistry from the actors who played Minato and Tsuge…
I noticed that about the pacing towards the end, too. Machida gave an excellent performance so yes it must be the writing. He had very subtle facial gestures which expressed a lot which is a sign of a very good actor. A great cook can only do so much if he's given bad ingredients. The same goes for acting :P

Well said! Sometimes actors just can't find that romantic connection. The actors for Adachi and Tsuge did a little bit, but not enough :P Its just like real life. Not everyone you meet will feel attracted to you. For some reason you can be the best actor in the world but a sincere love connection is almost impossible to fake. Oh well, they were still enjoyable to watch :)
