I grew up in NYC, Lived in Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Tokyo and now live in Miami. I have not seen every person on earth but I have more experience than most. I’ve known people like Yujin and Minjae. They are realistic. Much of the drama is very realistic. I find it bizarre that people are coping so hard to defend the cartoon depictments of Se Jin and the brother. And I’ve known plenty of boundary bullies.

They have really done Kim So Hyun dirty with the writing of her character. I think she’s maxxxing what she can with the script but they have given her really poor character traits and development. I too am sticking with it because I love her and I hope they give her better material to work with in the last 4 eps.

The preview is clearly a fake out. She and the Professor are not romantic. And Minjae has likely lied about having someone in the U.S. or asked the professor to. Her brother has likely caused Minjae to try to put distance, real and emotional, between him and Yu Jin. If this were a 16 episode drama maybe I’d be more willing to accept how bad 7 and 8 were and now 9 will be them separated. But we only have 12 episodes and they will not do these characters justice. They both needed a lot more growth midway and got little to none.

Correct. the fact there are people defending horrid writing which needs to EARN the viewers investment is bizarre. They needed to develop the romance relationship more to make everything mean more and make more sense. A few early kissing scenes and lab scenes and cafe scenes do not do that. And while I do find much of the characters and plot realistic, flawed, more close to real life, both Se Jin and the Brother are literal caricatures used as plot devices to manufacture conflict and its lazy and like a hammer over the head.

it only being 12 episodes and wasting nearly all of episode 7 is part of tge problem. And I don’t know ANY brother that would have told their sisters boyfriend to breakup with her because of the leg. This is simply not realistic behavior. They could have got to the same point of showing him feel insecure without using this outlandish brother device. It’s ridiculous lazy writing. There is an incredible story and script somewhere in this drama that they have overlooked for stupid and lazy behavioral motivations and exposition. The major themes are good while the character writing to advance the plot is bad. You can keep trying to argue with me but it doesn’t change MY opinion 🤷🏻♀️
