No they are just cousins. Cangxuan's father is the elder brother of Xiaoyao's mother. They only called each other…
I’m slightly confused by these replies can you clarify.
on the show ….. they seem to say she is the Xiling princess, daughter of Xiling King and sister of CX father. And CX was hostage prince to Haoling but calls Xaoling King master.
But here people are claiming that on the show she is only disciple of Xiling Grand Queen. I missed that. Am I misunderstanding show relationship that her mother and CX father are both children of XILING King & Queen and thus blood cousins.
No one is saying it’s not complex and that she doesn’t LOVE them all. in fact I repeatedly say she LOVES them…
I repeatedly make a distinction between the SHOW and the NOVEL.
The show is not the novel. For whatever reasons the show has some changes and this is a page for the show though I absolutely love commentary from the novel.
On the show, for whatever reason, maybe censorship, they have removed the romance and sexual nature at least from XY’s side in the blood sucking. And once she becomes Princess she only even lets him suck from her wrist/arm in the most unromantic from her side way.
According to the script for the show she will try to unalive herself over Jing and yet again be saved by XL who of course she has grown a deep deep love connection too but isn’t it one she finds dangerous and unpredictable and scary and unsafe? The love of the toxic bad boy with a heart of gold.
Regarding what the actors are saying……. “SHIPPING” Is a huge huge part of selling dramas and the actors almost ALWAYS play into multiple ships and are coy and leave open lots of room for fans of different characters to enjoy their ships. So I don’t base much on fan service.
We have to wait and see if the drama adapts this part of the novel or not (from chapter 48), but in the novel…
I’ve read a number of interpretations/theories of the Robe on the shore and many of them don’t include it being her waiting specifically for XL or anyone particular and someone said their was an interview with the writer who said it wasn’t about XL but I don’t recall where I saw it. I have no insight into what was in XY’s head on the shore other than clear reluctance to marry FLong.
I DO think she wanted someone, anyone to come rescue her from her bad decision and to stop the wedding before it happened but at least for me…. via the show….. her willingness to marry XL/FFB at that time when she still thinks a life with Jing is impossible because of baby gate is a consolation prize type of situation where she will reluctantly and apprehensively be with XL if she cannot be with Jing. XL is her second choice.
Again this is *strictly* SHOW interpretation based on show XY.
*On the show* Jing is the only one she falls into a DEEP depression over and when she thinks he has been killed she decides she no longer wants to live and tries to unalive herself.

ok yes let’s see because they have not made that distinction on the show yet and that still seems to not constradict the idea that HE accepted wholeheartedly and HE is deeply in love. My only point I keep making is that her love via show is not shown to be the same *romantic* kind of IN LOVE love that they show for Jing. it is LOVE…… but a different kind.
ok LOVERS bugs. The point remains the same. are you going to claim she and CY were romantic lovers and she was in romantic love with him? No. They had a deep profound love but she was not IN love with him.
When they lured the bug out of CX and in to XL she was not remotely IN LOVE with XL but he was at the beginning stages of falling IN love with her.
Ahe grows to feel a profound love for XL but on the show it’s not a romantic lusty love it’s still a platonic love.
Here's what might be an unpopular question but do you think Cangxuan could have become King of Xiyan without Xiaoyao's…
Actually he could not have done it without TSJ help and TSJ wouldn’t have helped if not for XY so yes you are right he could not have done it without XY.
he was not cowardly as YE Shiqi to the point that he walked right into the Chenrong Rebel Army camp and took on…
Do you understand it’s not about whether he would win or lose. The point is that he is no COWARD. He’s not your real boyfriend and this isn’t real life. RELAX and touch grass lol
ok since people replied to my previous comment about SHOW XY and XL having an unrequited romantic love relationship with “that is not true because of the love bug”
I don’t know about Novel but in the SHOW both parties do not have to be in love for the love bug to work. only the RECEIVER of the bug has to be in love. Which is why she was able to place it in CY. XY has never been in love with CY nor has SHOW XY been IN love with XL, especially not at the time XL received the bug.
I keep saying there are different kinds of love. For SHOW XL/XY there is a possibility for XY to fall in love with XL/FFB in the future under different circumstances if he was not Xiling & CY enemy but at no time in the series YET has she ever been in love with him the way she is with Jing. And the love bug is not contrary to that as evidenced by it also having been in CX.
Ah Nian and Jing are pretty similar, she wants CX, while Jing wants XY. Does CX and XY loves them? Yes, of course,…
ummmm are you watching the show because on the show it’s very clear Jing is the only one she wants to marry and spend her life with. This is an absurd comparison.
it has dawned on me that a lot of the conflict in this comment section is because of a difference between the show and the book.
Book readers and Show only watchers are getting two different versions of a story. This happens regularly with adaptations to screen so it’s nothing abnormal but it does explain a lot of the XL fandom in the comments who are living via the novel version of XL/XY which wasn’t adapted as clearly in the series version. The show version has played it much more as a one sided unrequited romantic love so people are seeing it thru different lenses.
You can empathize without agreeing. It's NOT about "infantilizing" women. No one said FFYY didn't deserve it.…
XL is presented at the beginning as a villain and does some cruel things but yes HE is a very complex multidimensional character who starts with a limited moral compass exhibiting more cruelty but his heart and conscience seemed to always understand the difference between innocent and not innocent people….. He I can find much sympathy and understanding for through the growth in his character.

I’m literally just watching the show. literally. that’s it. I’m a grown married woman I don’t obsess about FICTIONAL SHIPS. it’s so silly and absurd.

like what are some of you even saying.

FFYY just did not earn that from me 🤷🏻♀️
