ONE quip I have…….. I wish there was a scene where we get to see XL finding out that King of Haoling is willing to allow him to marry XY and see XL actually deliberate the idea. I don’t know why they left the scene of the King saying he likes FFB passion much more than Fenglong and offers for FFB(XL) to marry XY and then we get no payoff of any kind even just seeing XL/FFB reaction to the idea. Minor Quip but it was a letdown of what could have been an incredible scene to see him think it over and also be gratified that he was offered the chance to marry as FFB.

??Does he need to be dignified in front of the type of people who shitted on him when he was tortured and broken and stinky and smelly and left for dead???? And the only person who gave him back his dignity was XaioYao. Thus the only person he cares about is XY. period. fuck the world of nobles and their “dignity” the whole point of this show is that he hates being Clan Leader and hates being Noble and only returned to it because he wanted to marry XY publicly and respectfully.

exactly!!!! people seem to be missing that Jing is the only one she has true romantic feelings for. all of the physical intimacy she wants is only from Jing. I LOVE XL but she doesn’t feel romantic towards him. she loves his companionship and would be happy to spend a life with him but not in the intensely romantic way she would JING!
It took me a minute to figure out why XY wanted that banquet to take place and why she was treating TSJ like that.…
yes she’s trying to bait TSH and FengFang both to unravel their demonic bullshit and expose them. she’s brilliant!!!! if only she had done this earlier so much distance and heartbreak between her and Jing could have been avoided. but better late than never!
Really not understanding the JING/Deng Wei hate in here. his character has a fraction of the lines of the others and he is playing a tortured gentle soul who is completely broken like XaioYao struggling with the same struggle she has between wanting a gentle soft life as a commoner but also the responsibility and advantages of nobility and how to navigate that. His entire nature is gentle and quiet. it’s literally THE POINT of his character. And why XaioYao fell in love with him and found sanctuary in him. No one seems to place blame on XaioYao for abandoning him to a demoness like FengFang and not believing in him, something she herself has finally come to realize in episode 8. She could have saved herself and Jing so much time and heartache & depression if she had gathered her wits to have Jings back against the evil brother and fengFang. Her not doing that coupled with Jings gentle nature and guilt and discombobulation led them both to decades of despair apart. Jings entire character is that he is utmostly respectful of XY so he wasn’t going to do anything overtly he felt was disrespectful to her wishes. so yes, he spent decades moping and tearing up at the sight of her without doing anything about it. but he’s not lame or boring. he’s actually in many ways the most interesting character because he’s one of the smartest. HE is the reason CX was able to make alliances and gain power to become King. He and ONLY he could gain XL ‘s begrudging trust and respect. XL would NEVER defer XY to any other man but Jing because he knows Jing is a truly good soul worthy of XY and I’m sorry but Deng Wei is beautiful and if all we get for 10 episodes is him crying I’m fine with it. XY ONLY has romantic sexual feelings for Jing. That is made abundantly clear in the show. Both Jing & XY just want the soft life. Two broken people who find sanctuary in each other. Peace in each other. Quiet and stillness and safety in each other. They’ve suffered enough. I can relate. There is nothing boring in that. And He’s SLY as a fox. don’t sleep on him. He’s nobodies fool or lame and Deng Wei was given VERY LITTLE to work with and people have unrealistic ideas of what someone can do with few lines.
This season does feel so rushed already....we miss out on so many nauces with XY depression and her studying to…
I really understood it because I relate to it. I relate to XY on so many human levels. it didn’t feel rushed to me but I can imagine compared to the book it was.
