It's more like Cho Yeong vs Jin Cho-Yeon. Or Yeong vs Cho-Yeon.
It is still an interesting choice. All 3 girls are Bu Yeon, Cho Yeon and …….. Yeong. I was googling trying to see if in Korean the G makes it completely different or not.

Title Alchemy of Souls Spoiler
In response to reviewers and commenters saying “Naksu was such a strong badass woman and then she decides to be happy just being a maid? A housewife? What happened to our strong woman? I can’t believe they turned her into choosing to just be some weak ass housewife.”

I think people saying this think it is some kind of feminist position. It is not. It’s the Jin Mu position. The whole show is about how bad this mindset is. It places power as a virtue and EGO above all else. Love is not a weakness. Love that creates feelings of empathy and sympathy and bonds that are so strong you are willing to do whatever it takes to protect people is not weakness. Sacrificing your own power is not weakness. Serving people is not a weakness!!!! It is much harder to serve people than be served. It is much harder to persevere as servant than the master being served.

Furthermore, choosing to just be a wife and mother and cooking and cleaning is not weakness. Using your wits to outsmart people in place of brute strength is not weakness. Letting go of the desire for power because the cost is too high is not weakness. BEING A MAID IS NOT WEAK. This kind of thinking is so Elitist and classist it’s gross. You’re projecting your own personal prejudices. You clearly look down on maids and housewives. . If a man made this choice people would think it was noble but if a woman does it it’s suddenly some anti feminist weak ass choice. This is literally how Jin Mu thinks! Congrats your thinking is on the same level as our villain!

The point of this dramas whole story is that you cannot have it all. Everything comes with a cost. “ Badassness” comes with a cost. Yin and Yang. Choosing a simple life as a housewife isnt weak. Using housewife as some pejorative is nasty. It’s not feminist. Just say you wanted to watch a show about a remorseless murderous female assassin who gets chased and fights people for 20 episodes and go.

Thank you for coming to my Ted Talk 🤗

You guys, I have to ask this because I have been thinking about this for a long time now. Why is everybody so…
The biggest evidence for me was when Mama Jin was strangling Mudeok and she had the flash of childhood memories and said “Ohmani”.

But I don’t know if she left the body after that conversation in the ice stone.

Wouldn’t her want to move her into a new body where she would not be recognized by anyone and then able to be…
I like where your head is at. Jin Mu is devious AF so can’t put anything past him. We have 4 months to keep throwing stuff at the wall. We can’t limit ourselves 😂😂😂😂😂

Here's an alternative theory for you, guys, how Naksu will return into her body that doesn't involve any crazy…
Wouldn’t her want to move her into a new body where she would not be recognized by anyone and then able to be more stealthy? He wanted her OG body gone before and then for her to be dead so she could never be linked back to him. His whole thing is remove all evidence. So it just seems more likely if he rescued her (why rescue her when you sent her to her demise)why would he send her back into the body everyone knows he trained as the assassin. Wouldn’t he rather shift her into someone new. I don’t know 😫😭

GYJ in white dress must have new identity (pretending to be someone to continue hiding just like mudeok). She…
She’s gonna have to be careful! Jin Mu, Park danggu, Park Jin, all the mages she fought and people who watched her burn have seen her real face 😫

Because it doesn’t look like good writing?
I am rooting for them because I want this show to make sense and be enjoyable. I wouldn’t say I have faith in them though. They really have a history of badly written second half’s. So I only hold onto my hope lol

Because it doesn’t look like good writing?
I think they have brilliant ideas and moments of magic ( the eggs, the ring scene ) I also think they have a hard time the further along they get into their their scripts. . GRRM himself had trouble untying the “gordian knot” he created in the GOT novels which is why he took a break and hasn’t fished. The more plot and world you build the harder it is to remain consistent and logical and not back yourself into corners which make you have to use illogical plot devices to get out of. This is a pitfall for most script writers. I don’t see it as just a Hong Sisters thing. But I also think they are much better at concepts than execution.

It’s not fighting when only one team is upset & belittling the other new actress just because their bias isn’t…
I can clearly recall JSM being regularly compared to GYJ VERY early on and GYJ fans making remarks about her being small, unathletic, incapable of fight scenes, not as pretty, boring , not badass etc so it’s a bit hard to sell me the story that this is some one sided fan fight.

I have zero interest in the fan wars because I just really don’t care. It’s all over twitter. It should stay there. I don’t know or care who started it or who thinks who is bitter or in the right or whatever very online very K-POP idol fandom type drama is feeding this.

Not everything is about some slight against GYJ. People dropping the show aren’t hating on GYJ. Peoples attachment to the fictional Character of Mudeok and the actress who portrayed her should not personally annoy GYJ fans. It’s all too personal. We cannot define what is worthy or unworthy of people to vent about. You can’t police how other people feel. Or demand they only express the sentiments you like or agree with. People who want to watch will watch. People who don’t won’t. And people who want to discuss all of it for months will! Freedom! Let people be!

Another thing what about this?http://www.slist.kr/news/articleView.html?idxno=379551The story of 'Hwanmoon' is…
Originally I thought this was referring to season 1’s 3 parts but they didn’t really fully go into JBY story? Or maybe they think they did with the scene on the boat and then her washing up in sari village. But what she did for 10 years is never shown. So I don’t know. But it’s probably the 3 parts of season 1 they are referring to.

Go Yoon Jung is not going to play as Naksu or Buyeon or Mudeok or Cho Yeong? The new character with the same face…
We don’t even know if the soul returning after you’ve switched means everything is fine or you still can run wild like GilJu when he tried it and failed! And Jang Gang may have been having issues too. If anyone who uses the soul ejectors is cursed does the curse lift if she goes back to her own body? Or is it still there and magic bells can still zombify her. So many questions lol

I have seen toxic engagement from both sorry. If you think it’s coming from one side I don’t know what to tell you. Twitter is full of examples and has been since the show started. Which is truly a shame.

Yes! I used to work as the media relations manager for the NBA and “there’s no such thing as bad publicity” was our running joke!

thinking about this body swap thing reminded me of a popular Chinese drama The Untamed. it had body swap in it…
Not sure if you’ve seen 18 again but it’s one of many good examples of how you can visually use two actors to embody one character to the audience in a method beside just flashbacks like this court scene where they pan from his 18 year old version to his 40 year old version to remind the audience that that’s who he really is inside of the 18 year old. They sprinkle it during various moments through the episodes. https://youtu.be/5f0E_oit5dQ?t=149

The Untamed is a perfect example of how it didn’t translate well from book to show lol

So, are the showrunners really going throw out Bu-Yeon character out of the plot just like that without giving…
Knowing what we know now …..from a strictly public relations standpoint it would have been better to not announce the return of GYJ and also not announce JSM fate and leave both out of the trailer. The ending of season 1 was more than enough to keep people invested in what happens next and avoid risky negative publicity in the interim 4 month waiting period. Simply HIDE what’s to come and then let the story play out in December.
