What kind of irked me was that Jonghyeon kept asking whether ASY slept with KyungPil. That was his ultimate deal breaker. Not the unhappiness, dissatisfaction, or loveless relationship. While Sangsu never once asked her. He knew it wasn't true, and knew exactly why she did and how much pain she was in.
While his feeling of anger and betrayal was natural enough, Jonghyeon will also hopefully come to the realisation that in some way or the other, Sooyoung did it for him. He would never pass that exam if he stays with asy. He also has to get over his constant wallow of self pity. "Is it beause of I'm poor? It's because I am hopeless." No it's not and you knew it!
Totally agree, this drama hits home for many viewers, including me myself, as I can see my somehow 'innocent'…
beautifully written, both these comments. well said, all these characters are mere mortals living their life, making decisions that they deem necessary.
True. But I also think this was probably the only way he could get over his gratitude and move on. He wasn't even…
Jonghyun knows about ASY & Sangsu tbh. He has seen them talking multiple times, Sangsu came to meet sooyoung last episode and he watched it through the window.
his doubts were confirmed during the dinner with Migyeong, when she asked whether sangsu felt sooyoung's absence in the office too. that's when he asked her whether she really liked him. and he tried to display his ownership, for lack of a better word, while showing off his ring to sangsu, and pointedly telling hss that he was going to meet ASY. that was a real possessive move. so I don't think, he is that far from Migyeong's character. he knows the reason too, he just has to accept it, just like the sfl.
Does jong hyun really deserve this kind of treatment from sooyoung no matter how pathetic he is?. That's just…
True. But I also think this was probably the only way he could get over his gratitude and move on. He wasn't even happy with her and Sooyoung knew it. He was bound to her because he felt indebted to her for what she did for him. so for Sooyoung, the only possible way to free him (and herself) was to make him hate her. it is stupid, but that's the way she found.
This show hits too close to home sometimes. The actors are doing a fantastic job as always.
Sangu Su when he apologized to Migyeong and SooYoung & Jonghyeon's scene in the rain - ig that's our (un)official breakup for both the couples. I don't have enough words to describe how impactful the acting is. the pain, regret, hopelessness - all of it feels incredibly palpable. YYS is a fantastic actor. when he was apologising to MKY and later crying because of his own guilt and regret. wow.
our characters are incredibly human in the way there seems to be no rhyme or reason for certain actions of theirs. a lot of it is stupid, a lot of it is extreme. jonghyeon was right in that sooyoung felt a sense of sympathy and compassion for him, maybe even liked him as a result of it. but he also have to come to the realisation that what she said was right. did he feel anything more than a sense of gratitude towards her? why was he (and Migyeong) suffering in a loveless relationship, where he wasn't even happy. heck even his gratitude went for a toss when he was going through failures and suffering, and looked for solace elsewhere.
similarly with Miyeoung, what reason did she even find to stay with sangsu? how does she have no pride or self respect? I feel horrible for her cause she did get hurt, but why would she continue to hold onto nothing, when that relationship wasn't even making her happy?
@alessandra, well summarised the underlying meaning of this plot, which not many have understood. Cheers. 😃
exactly! they see the drama with a black and white lens, and want to label these characters into their good & bad boxes. which just doesn't work here, because these characters are not one-dimensional. they are purely human, with their own sets of right and wrong decisions and feelings.
she did indeed destroy the sandcastle herself, before it could be knocked down by anyone else.
FL is the type of person who lights her own world on fire isn't she? I sympathize with her. I can't remember a single ep where she wasn't suffering one way or another. now deciding to sacrifice it all for ML, or is it her deciding for herself before somebody else could? meanwhile sml is possessive all of a sudden. ig this is fl's way of killing two birds with one stone. if only our characters found it easy to let go when they should have.
WHAT AN EPISODE!!! I haven't laughed AND cried like this in a long while. Have to applaud our leads. They are…
ep5 ending really was a masterpiece lmao. I CACKLED at the top of my lungs. My fav epi so far. This drama knows how to balance the tone and sub plots. it's not hence jarring when the tone shifts from comedy to murder plot and investigation. The intrigue and suspense is being built-up well.
haeyi & NHS bond is my absolutely favourite. The simple act of asking her daughter first whether the chicken day was distracting for her, instead of dictating their children's life and deciding for them like other mothers would have 👏👏 Best eomma.
Maybe lots of young people won't watch this drama because the female lead is not pretty like other actresses but…
She is beautiful if you ask me. she is older and looks her age. I don't think young people are dense either, to think that being pretty equates to being young or looking one type of way.
I*m quite enjoying it, but female lead looks like she could be male lead's mother. Maybe if they just fixrd her…
what? no she absolutely doesn't. ML's mother geez height of exaggeration. even the actors are only 10 yrs apart! some of these comments are downright sad.

Have to applaud our leads. They are masters of their craft, no doubt.
