So far there have been only 2 K-Dramas that I’ve searched for the OST. The first is “Because This is My First Life” and the second is “It’s Okay to Not Be Okay.” I became a fan of Melomance, Elaine Kim, and Janet Suhh because of them.
Having seen the movie, I did find the drama lacking. There is a talent to editing and storytelling that has to be compressed into 90+ minutes rather than drawing it out to 16+ hours. But, I agree, some of the added fluff (OST, background, etc.) made the series a work of its own.
That’s what a good OST does. You don’t really notice it but it sets a mood. Even in the end credits, the music helps you decompress what you just saw. Seeing the internal struggles that Ahn Joon Ho is experiencing and how the underlying music plays into it made me think the director has studied Martin Scorsese. Elements of the first 2 episodes gave me some of the same vibes I had from watching Scorsese’s “Bringing Out the Dead”.
First question: Why are most of these actors from Thailand? Is there a local market for these kind of dramas. Second question: How many of these actors are truly bi/gay and are comfortable with themselves enough to take these roles rather than seeing it as another paycheck?
I never considered Korean movies (or any Asian movies) until I stumbled onto this movie on an obscure cable channel available on my iPad. I was at work alone, bored and started watching it. Ultimately, I locked the doors, cut off the phone and watched it twice that day. Now I watch K-dramas more than American broadcast shows.

Why the disparity?
