I prefer the storytelling in Season 2. In Season 1, they divided the plot in two parts. The first one introduces the characters and the second one focused on the mystery of the school. I think the two parts are too disconnected. Here things happen more fluidly.
The only thing that happened in season 2 that I disliked was killing 2 characters and making them coming back again. I hate that. Or you kill the character or you don't kill him. I would like more if they were both dead. It would be much more interesting and surprising.

I think his family taught him Mandarin because it is more useful. I know some Chinese families in Thailand who are seeking to teach Mandarin to their children because of economic advantages. Another possibility: one of the parents (maybe the deceased father) is a recent immigrant from China and spoke Mandarin.

I think he is selfish! If he didn't want to help, he had to be clear about it from the beggining. I think he is also a bit coward and never decides to do anything by himself.
