In the novel if I remember correctly, Hua Shuo use thunder strike from Qing Long platform. A Yin sufferred 6 strikes before escaping (don't remember the detail). She flew to the battle using the lotus weapon that Dong Hua presented her. That weapon protected Yuan Qi from the blow by Hua Mu (Hua Mu pretended to fight agaist Hong Yi). Then of course she got all kind of accusation by the immortal officials to pressurising on YQ. He was "forced" to punish her who wanted to die when seeing the consequence of freeing Hong Yi (she did it) and she also blamed herself for the destruction of Daze Mountain and its Sect. A Yin did not tell YQ that she already received 6 strikes. The strike that his sword created equalled to 7 strikes in total which killed her because she could not sustain that much. Yan Shang followed her but arrived at the battle too late to tell YQ about the previous punishment by Hua Shuo

I don't know if the english translation said thatA Yin received sealing punishment but in the book and the drama I watched (translated in my native languague) her punishment was removing the immortal bones which would make her become mortal being. It is not required thunder strike to seal something. It's quite nonsense to seal the immortal bone which would inhibit any further cultivation and make the victim handicaped. Sealing the power is comonly used. Yuan qi's purpose is to take her out of immortal race so all the conflict and war related to the immortal realm/race would not impact her anymore. She would stay in Qing Chi palace with its seal protection (even when he was not arround). Then she could recover and re-started cultivation and becoming immortal again. The book God Bai Shuo (adapted to Moonlight Mystique) explained the process of cultivation from a normal mortal to immortal.

If you read the novel Shen Yin, you will know that the drama added a lot of new material, stories and context which unfortunately weakens the logic of the narrative. Thus, this problem 100% results from script and adaption skill. 40 eps is more than enough for the novel Shen Yin to be adapted on screen. And the unfair hate that Yuan Qi got from some audience was the script writter's flaw. He was way better in the novel than he was on screen.
