Rant on Ep. 7, why are a police team chasing a suspect that has killed a few people, suddenly stop a few feet away and just watch the suspect look at the light when they were actively running after her, until she was hit by a car. Such bad script writing there. That’s not how police work is. You don’t just stop to admire what the suspect you’re running after is doing. 🤦‍♀️. Creating a narrative just for the sake of it is annoying. End of rant. 😮‍💨

2 sisters (4th and last one) share same mum with FL. Others are her cousins actually, but they all refer to each others as sisters and add numbers according to who is older. Technically, they are in line according to who is older, but that can be taken away too (if the grandmother does not finds the person not to be the right heir. The grandmother is the matriarch after all and is in charge). Grandmother nurtured FL specifically for the role, however she still keeps her on a leash and shows the role can be taken away if she does the wrong thing. That’s why all the other sisters are still in competition and politicking. Until the mantle is officially passed from grandmother to the next heir, it is still open to competition(if they pull FL down as crown-heir).

It’s like how there are crown princes but they can still be removed if they do something wrong.

Yeah. The cousin’s mother was removed from succession line. The female lead’s mum was heir and the female lead as the first , also became heir.

No. It’s a matriarchal family. Men marry into the family and take the Rong family’s name. The cousin has a different name because her mum decided to do a patriarchal marriage, that is, marrying into her husband’s family instead of the standard Rong’s family tradition.
This was explained in the narration at the beginning of the show.
It’s also why all the men are coming to compete for the female lead’s hand, they will become Rong. Also, the guy she caught cheating that she threw out (at the beginning) was a man she brought in as part of her household (male version of concubine).

Basically in this drama, Rong family is a female centric family.

True. Her acting is not the best from what I’ve seen so far 🤭. But storyline and strong and smart characters are still keeping me. If they butcher that too, I will leave.

Exactly! Like, it’s just a drama, don’t be so invested. Except you’re being paid to be, then that’s understandable. People need to go outside and touch grass often.

Take your childish ass off my mention. This is a forum to talk about dramas. And news flash, they won’t all be positive. People’s taste and expectations are different, welcome to real life and the real world.

Proper well produced drama. The casts portray their roles so excellently, it makes one feel they are experiencing what they’re going through with them.

Female lead favours Meng ZiYi (Blossom) in this show, especially their eyes. Although Meng ZiYi seems to have bigger eyes.

I hope they don’t drag the amnesia plot, I will appreciate if they keep it properly paced.

The drama has an interesting plot so far.

This drama seems to have been cut and sequenced badly. One minute she’s eating with the two little demons, next thing she’s doing lovey dovey with big bad demon, totally forgetting to bridge the scenes.

Anyway, it’s too fluffy for me. I may have outgrown this type of show. Also, too weird having a 30+ year old woman act childish (yes Tang Sonyu looks younger than her age, but not childish young) or even grown ass men and women acting like teenagers 🤦‍♀️.

The Glory seems to have been built for more matured audience. Let me continue with that for now.

Felt like it ended abruptly. Anyway, loved the 1st case, tolerated the 2nd. Waiting on season 5.

Few minutes into episode 1 and I am already enjoying this drama. Annoying that I have to watch it on youtube only for subs. But, I guess I can watch on one of my many chinese websites too.

So sad this fell off towards the end by trying to fit in too much. Overall great acting and good cinematography. Wonderful storytelling at the beginning.

You broke it down nicely. The beginning was the best part of this drama. The middle part tried to hold on, but it completely fell in the last part. Great acting from the Chinese cast. The foreigners in the last part of the drama were weird(especially the British guy who spoke with a non-native English accent).

Binged the first 6 episodes, can’t wait for more. It’s quite an interesting show.

Finally finished this beautiful, picturesque drama. Stunning visuals, great cast, and fun story. Looking forward to visiting Guizhou someday.
