I'm not too familiar with the history, but the show did briefly mention that he did not want to submit to the…
Makes sense. But he was shown to be coming back victorious and was asked to taken the throne by his dying brother. So, I was surprised with the shift in personality. He didn’t seem to be in a defeatist mood when he came home and took the throne.
Who can help me answer this, the king (son emperor) who suddenly didn’t want to be king anymore and just drank, I thought he was a soldier who was brave and came back to ascend the throne his brother left him?
What made him suddenly lose his senses and didn’t want the throne anymore? What did I miss?
First 4 episodes after and I’m still confused with the characters. But I am beginning to understand who is who. I think Bai Yu (ML) is still young now and is the current 9th/youngest Prince. I need to keep watching hopefully it clarifies soon.
Simply amazing storytelling with infused humour. I love Gao XueMei and her husband, Xie ChunLai, they are the funniest duo, yet we are shown, that just like in real life, even the most funny and seemingly great couples, experience tension and flows in their relationship. Can't wait for the new episodes (currently at ep. 25).
This show started out really great then dragged unnecessarily. Some of the casts are what saved it a bit. Should have been 10 episodes or less even. Overall, intriguing story.
One year later, I finally got to see Ne Zha 2 and Creation of the Gods 2, absolutely amazing movies. Kudos to the directors, producers and casts.
For this film, I did feel the producers concentrated more on the Female General storyline and didn’t really move the general/main plot line of the film forward. Maybe it was done deliberately to have content for part 3, but it was a bit weird. Good thing her character ended in this part (the actress playing her also has a scandal in China). I’m also curious how they will include the other Male Lead (crown Prince) in the next films considering his present scandal in China as well. Maybe that’s why he had limited screen time with his real face in this one.
All C-dramas should take note on how a female general should be. A prime example of a female general is in this movie. Not all those frail looking and unable to actually fight casts they use.
Rant on Ep. 7, why are a police team chasing a suspect that has killed a few people, suddenly stop a few feet away and just watch the suspect look at the light when they were actively running after her, until she was hit by a car. Such bad script writing there. That’s not how police work is. You don’t just stop to admire what the suspect you’re running after is doing. 🤦♀️. Creating a narrative just for the sake of it is annoying. End of rant. 😮💨
2 sisters (4th and last one) share same mum with FL. Others are her cousins actually, but they all refer to each others as sisters and add numbers according to who is older. Technically, they are in line according to who is older, but that can be taken away too (if the grandmother does not finds the person not to be the right heir. The grandmother is the matriarch after all and is in charge). Grandmother nurtured FL specifically for the role, however she still keeps her on a leash and shows the role can be taken away if she does the wrong thing. That’s why all the other sisters are still in competition and politicking. Until the mantle is officially passed from grandmother to the next heir, it is still open to competition(if they pull FL down as crown-heir).
It’s like how there are crown princes but they can still be removed if they do something wrong.
No. It’s a matriarchal family. Men marry into the family and take the Rong family’s name. The cousin has a different name because her mum decided to do a patriarchal marriage, that is, marrying into her husband’s family instead of the standard Rong’s family tradition. This was explained in the narration at the beginning of the show. It’s also why all the men are coming to compete for the female lead’s hand, they will become Rong. Also, the guy she caught cheating that she threw out (at the beginning) was a man she brought in as part of her household (male version of concubine).
Basically in this drama, Rong family is a female centric family.
If you don't have anything nice to say then don't say anything at all. If you think you words will hurt others…
True. Her acting is not the best from what I’ve seen so far 🤭. But storyline and strong and smart characters are still keeping me. If they butcher that too, I will leave.

Exactly! Like, it’s just a drama, don’t be so invested. Except you’re being paid to be, then that’s understandable. People need to go outside and touch grass often.

Good story and cast so far.

All in all, looking forward to part 3.
