What a show! The epilogue was the real last case to be solved. I can’t believe I missed it while it aired. So well written and very well wrapped up. Looks it will have a season 2 too, can’t wait.

I love how the comedic element of this show is in the forefront, yet with a brutal and dangerous story in the background. Somehow, they mix nicely—such an interesting concept.

Funny thing, I only like sweet things if they are fruits. Otherwise, I am not a sweet tooth. I guess it is my preference of tropical-related fruits. Oh I love spicy food. In fact I will make any food that isn’t spicy, more spicy.

I first ate Litchi when I visited Asia. I found it really refreshing to my body. Didn’t think it was that sweet (maybe because I’m used to much sweeter tropical fruits).

They covered the main part (it should be fresh). Only when he fell down, that it came off. They did it on purpose.

In hot weather it is indeed easily perishable. Remember this was before modern day cold storage and easy transportation to supermarkets. The fruits are really refreshing in hot weather.

Stunning cinematography, great acting, beautiful costumes, great casting, and so far, wonderful storytelling. Now, this is a proper drama.

Exactly. Such a disappointment after watching her in Northward. What a downgrade.

I’m struggling to watch Bai Lu in this after Northward. She really needs to pivot to better acting dramas/movies and leave idol work alone. I know this drives traffic for the young ones/fandom, but my gosh, I can’t even get through episode 1. It doesn’t feel like an actual real drama, so full of cliche, terrible storytelling and CGI.

It’s why I mentioned that it seems all effort was given to the first one. Which was why it was more interesting. Maybe if the gave the others a proper story (like with Marquis) all the villains’ stories would have been equally interesting and engaging.

This makes sense.

I know he orchestrated everything. It’s why they never fought him or exposed him even when they were being drowned by the fight with Zang Hai. The Duke only wrote to warn the Eunuch and not him.

That was confusing too. But it seems they didn’t know he was the 3rd person. After all the Eunuch believed he was allied with Dongxia’s queen. But then again, before the Eunuch’s death he showed up, so it seems his identity was known to him? It’s not clear.

Zhuang Lu Yin / Duke Ping Jin should have been made the last villain to go, his part was the most interesting in this drama. It's like all the effort was put into the first act, and the drama lost steam afterwards. Still an ok watch and wrapped up nicely. The older actors carried the drama (I enjoyed the Duke and Cao's (Eunuch) performances).

The drama is fine. I would say 8.9 is too much. But it’s interesting to watch. Kept me captivated. Ending was also satisfying to me.
