so the thought that this could just be a bit of harmless fun made for people who appreciate that sort of thing…
Unless you worked as a crew member of the show, my comment should not offend you. I made zero statements about the intentions of the people who created this show. Besides when I said that they're trying to compete with gmmtv. I said that because it's obvious with the constant singing, that they are trying to market these guys as all around talents. Other than what I watched in the first 2 episodes, I have no way of interpreting their intentions and wouldn't try to. I watched those episodes and found them to be subpar. Even if they intended to make it harmless and fun, imo they have failed to make a series worth watching. I have the right to say that and you have the right to disagree with me.
Since almost no one has said a positive thing about this series on here, it's almost adorable that you felt the need to single out my comment. But again that's your right. Anyone can watch it if they want to or not. But your "harmless fun" will not make this a well written/directed/acted series for the vast majority of people who turn it on.
I love this series so much!!!! Japanese series consistently telling a variety of stories with characters from all ages is one of my favorite things about BL these days. All of these characters seem so real, watching them live their lives while showing that gay love exists after someone is in their 20s is WONDERFUL to watch. I love them all, but Kurosawa will always have my heart!
When the executive producer, director and writer all have an average rating on MDL below 7, I place the blame for this disaster squarely on their shoulders. The actors are the ones we'll remember, but the problems here started before anyone was even cast.
This is not a series, it's another day in the Thai BL industry's race to the bottom. While these smaller companies act like they're competing with gmmtv, to see who can have the best all around talent who can sing, dance and act. They're actually competing with each other to see who can kill Thai BL faster. This is such a shame.
Welp, I'm out. I'm done waiting on this. For my ending, Vit tells Tao he was just using him, takes the money and…
This is the most perfect ending possible. Please go to Thailand and become a BL writer. You would be amazing! Also, "sleeping teenager" was my favorite line 👏👏
*sigh* I'm biased because I love MaxNat and have watched all of their series for the last 4 years. I was so excited when Naughty Babe was announced because they were finally getting lead roles. Unfortunately, the writing/directing of that series was not good. Two Worlds has a strong team behind the camera, but so far it's not very good.
I really liked most of the first episode. Nat and Gun had good chemistry and I was surprised by how much I liked Khram and Phupha together. But the improvement I saw in Nat's acting with Gun, disappeared when he was with Max. Idk why he immediately turned into a whining damsel, I didn't enjoy it. I'm going to stick with the show because the premise is interesting and I still love MaxNat, but I'm not expecting the rest of the series to be good.
I haven't even started watching this and seeing this page has already devolved in name calling and attacks really…
With many shows, reading other people's thoughts increases my enjoyment of the series. But over the last couple of years, some very vocal people have been trying to force their opinions on others and that decreases the enjoyment for me.
To your point, I think comment sections like this one tend to do more harm than good for the series and cast. For some reason, some people think that MDL is a fan site and not a discussion board. And have decided that they must "protect" the series and drive out all the "haters" who don't view the series/characters in the exact same way they do. No one likes to be attacked or called names. And after a few weeks, pages like this usually become feedback loops of nothing but praise because everyone else has left or decided not to participate in the discussion.
But tv is a business and companies who make shows need to sell advertising. Advertisers want views. They would rather have a show where only half the viewers love the series and 1 million people watch, than a show where 90% of the people passionately love it but only 100,000 viewers. (That's just an example, I'm not suggesting that's the view count of this series or that's the amount of hyper fans.)
In the end, rabid fans really aren't helping. I've watched BL views go down over the last couple of years even for well known ships. BL has a built in audience , but GL is building an audience and hasn't proven yet that it can be profitable for advertisers. Toxic fans driving people away aren't going to help the genre or the actors. But I can't stop someone from sharing a rude comment, but I can choose not to involve myself in this page. Which sucks for me, because I love cast and have been looking forward to the series since it was announced in 2022.
*Sigh* We've finally gotten 23.5 after almost two years of waiting and the comment section looks like a warzone.…
I haven't even started watching this and seeing this page has already devolved in name calling and attacks really remnids me of the pages for The Sign and Pitbabe. I'm just gonna leave, fighting over a tv show is not worth the stress or energy for me. But your comment was amazing 👏
Because I know 9NAA is not capable of making a good series, I watched this expecting the worst. The first episode wasn't completely bad.
For some reason these days many series have 1st episodes that give most viewers almost no reason to want to keep watching. I can remember a time (not so long ago) when the first episode hooked viewers and made them eagerly anticipate future episodes. These days that's REALLY rare.
Trees, guitars, toilets and a guy who just keeps talking, don't make me excited for more. But 9NAA will add plenty of NC scenes to fill each episode and I'm sure they expect their target audience to be completely satisfied with only that.
JJ was in Diary of Tootsies though, which is fully BL.
True but that was 8 years ago. The sequel came out 7 years ago, but he was barely in it. Me being surprised by the casting isn't me saying anything against him. JJ is a great actor and I'm looking forward to the show and his performance. Many actors who used to do BL don't anymore, IMO that's not a good or bad thing, it's just true.
It kinda feels like I watched 2 different series. Episodes 1-8 could have been 1 episode or a mini series. Everything picked up starting in episode 9, but is still wasn't entertaining. It's obvious that covid limited what they were able to do and since no one wrote an actual script, the people on camera just did the best they could eating and going to bars over and over.
I wish they hadn't brought in Night 2. He was really likeable, but there was no time to develop his character and it was impossible not to compare him to the other Night. Bhu and Que were both selfish and unlikeable. The sister (who ended up not being the sister) got too much camera time. She was nice, but I just didn't care about her crush. All of the characters had basic crushes but their reasons for liking the other person seemed shallow. Since everyone got over the failed crushes in a week or so, it was hard for me to feel invested in any of the "relationships". But the series wasn't awful and the camerawork and cinematography would have been nice in a tourist video.
In less than 10 minutes these actors just explained acting, the importance of workshops and how to build chemistry. Wow! This should be required viewing for every actor who accepts a role that requires kissing. 👏👏👏
I'm a bit confused by the low rating, but MDL ratings never cease to disappoint.
The trailer was giving all the right Sammon vibes and I'm really looking forward to the series. I'm a bit surprised that JJ is staring in a BL and I don't count Great Men Academy as a BL. But him and Tor have been close for a long time, so I'm sure their chemistry will be top notch.
This will probably be one of my favorites this year.
Omg this looks adorable 🥰!!! The reaction video from Big and Park sold me completely. I'm so happy for Big and it seems like his chemistry with Park will be great. I hope this one doesn't disappoint
I'm not sure why they decided to make another Close Friend, but they should have stopped after season. The bar chick was the only interesting person in episode and I can't think of a reason for me to watch 5 more episodes of this. But the acting was better than many series made in Thailand these days, so there's that!
