but what he said is also true. This drama can't keep things interesting
If you watch it without considering its context then that may be true. What makes an opinion valid tho is if it’s within context. That doesn’t apply to preferences tho, we should know the difference.
I think what most people forget is that this isn't a crime thriller, it's a psychological thriller. I do agree…
You need to keep in mind that premise of this drama is not merely about “solving the crime” it wasn’t even about “understanding the motives of killers” it was about how the cumulation of small decisions of people result to what is now present. KMJ chose suicide, that is reality. People will always choose what they see they should...I get that you want “justice” but life doesn’t always get you what you want just because you want it. Honestly, you missed a lot of depth in this drama with regards to reality just because you’re so focused on the cliche. But yeah, that’s just me.
There are a lot of people who are not into this kind of drama but I'm glad that I enjoyed every minute of it.…
Yeah! There's really nothing wrong with having different preferences, but there's no need to spread negative things about the drama just because it's not your cup of tea or because you had different expectations when clearly it was tagged as "psychological" thriller. Again, we all have different opinions, but what makes an opinion valid is if it is within context.
Glad you enjoyed the drama! Really hoping others would give it a try with the right perspective while watching it because that's what the writer, director, and actors deserve.
*shaking my head* if you want to be spoon-fed with every detail and explanation, Beyond Evil isn’t for you. Just stop badmouthing a drama because you can’t understand depth. Seriously, it’s getting on my nerves how these people would misinterpret/misunderstand the premise of this masterpiece and spread it. I know we have our own opinions and preferences, but if you aren’t watching this drama with the right lens then of course everything would not make sense. Even translations play a big part in this drama because of the depth of conversations they have.
Sorry guys, don’t want to spread negativity but I saw some “woke” tweets and that’s just got me going berserk lol
It is indeed slow burn, but I think you missed the whole point of the drama. It’s a psychological thriller, not a crime thriller. Beyond Evil focuses on intrinsic & psychological aspects of humans when faced w/ incredulous situations(in this case, crimes) and that’s what sets this drama apart from other thrillers.
P.s. I’m not calling you out for your review, that is your right, but if you watched this drama with the wrong lens then that may cause misinterpretation and misunderstanding of the drama’s premises.
I think you need to keep in mind the genre of this drama, it’s a psychological thriller and not mere crime thriller. Also, the reason of HJW’s obsession over the case was clear as day in the drama.
I personally loved it and it went straight to the list of my favourite dramas, but it is not for everyone. If…
That might actually be why you might have not liked it, it’s a psychological thriller and not a crime thriller. I think you need to shift your perspective while watching and then you’ll see it for the masterpiece it is :) but if you are not into slow burn in general, then you might not like the buildup here. Foundation and tension buildup for the whole drama for me is epi 1-3/4 and the roller coaster ride starts at epi 4/5 then there’s just no stopping the crazy ride until the end :)
I kinda disagree with the first one, though. “Good is good while bad is bad” was never even once highlighted…
I actually saw him as a bit of a narcissist, maybe that's why that was my take on his character lolol and I'm not saying he was good because of his acts, more like he "saw himself as righteous" and that's why his decisions were like that - his duties just followed since of course the job can be done routinely and without passion.
I also loved the characterization of DHW! It was beautiful how they bamboozled me into thinking she was doing it for herself and then bamboozled me again when it was shown that she truly was protecting her son...there may be more layers to this tho, and the uncertainty is what makes it lovely.
Still hurt that Yeo Jin Goo was not nominated. He was just exceptional alongside Shin Ha Kyun! Would easily let SHK bag the award but YJG deserves to at least be nominated!!!!! I just don't get it.
This is a good thriller, with an interesting storyline and fantastic acting. However, I think tagging it as a…

While that is true, I think as compared to KJM being a serial killer and LCJ being a gangster and whatever so he had killed people, I think it was actually nice how HGH was the culprit - it was shown how he was so upright and overly-righteous and that was what made him cover up his crime (aside from aiming way too high, he wanted to remain clean as this was what he believed he was). Also, compared to other corrupt characters and culprits from other dramas, the only people he killed were LYY (directly) and KJM (indirectly), which is why he believed how he ran over LYY was a "small mistake" because from his perspective as someone who upholds the law, his "contributions" outweigh this "small mistake". That's where he and his son differ though.
Although, now that you've mentioned it, I also would be interested to know how the direction of the story would flow if PJJ was indeed the culprit!
I actually agree with the second point! If it wasn’t shown in the last episode how KJM seemed to be faking it…
It may not be truly impossible tho or is it? lol sorry buuut it may be the other way around then? KJM developed a personality that would seem to be developmentally/mentally challenged - since he was an orphan, this may be his way of survival from the pity of other people (like LDS and LYY parents)
ooooor to my more boring theory, he really was just pretending to win other people's sympathy as, again, he was an orphan and maybe this was the only way he saw he could survive and thought to continue that way of life since "other people would believe someone so pitiable" and once he started committing crimes, "the perfect alibi"
p.s. I hope the Beyond Evil script books would discuss his past more, as we know screen time could have been one reason why his past wasn't tackled much (aside from being an orphan and adopted into the Lee family and getting scammed lol)
Two plot points that made me lower the rating from 10 to 9.5 were:> The explanation for the accident that got…
I kinda disagree with the first one, though. “Good is good while bad is bad” was never even once highlighted in this drama (as far as I’ve noticed). They actually were fairly crafty with their dealings of the area between black & white. All characters have with them a sense of justice - some corrupted, some lost, some abandoned, some blinded. They all have their own truths, but one’s truth could be another’s lie and demise. That’s the best part about this drama for me!

I actually agree with the second point! If it wasn’t shown in the last episode how KJM seemed to be faking it ever since, then I would’ve brushed off his “other personality” as someone he has created with his mental disability out of desperation and getting fed up with how others treat him because of said “mental disability”. The gray area in KJM’s character, for me, happened right when they were trying to conclude the story that’s why as much as I still have questions about it, I just couldn’t help but stick with my first theory lol
THE WAY THE RATING SHOOT UP AFTER THE DRAMA ENDED! From 8.4 to 8.7! YOU GUYS HAVE TASTE! MORE! THIS DRAMA DESERVES HIGHER RATINGS!!! EASILY THE BEST DRAMA IN 2021!
WHY IS THIS NOT IN NETFLIX! They said it’ll be available on Netflix today (April 11) but instead of seeing the episodes, they took out Beyond Evil! WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS ? I know the title is #BeyondEvil but you don’t need to actually “BE” it, Netflix!
An acting PRODIGY! He is a monster when it comes to acting! He just devours his character! YEO JIN GOO IS AMAZING! I am proud to say that I stan someone of talent, good looks, and amazing voice!
Glad you enjoyed the drama! Really hoping others would give it a try with the right perspective while watching it because that's what the writer, director, and actors deserve.
