With 2 episode out, it has shown a lot of promise to become something really good. The whole prelude to the D-day is very well thought out and allow viewer to get enough information to piece out some of the mystery regarding this "disease" which I really liked. As a thriller and action genre drama, it definitely those elements that keep you feeling suspenseful. The whole movement was well-choreograph too and I expect train to Busan level of action from the short glimpse of 2 episodes.
The whole social politics aspect seems to be present here as well, I can already see how wealth discrimination is also present which kdrama have a knack in showing subtlety. The covid-19 narrative is also being emulated to make this disease spread as realistic as it can be.
In terms of romance, 2 episodes isn't actually enough to tell you how the next 10 episode would look like since it could go both way. Either way, their chemistry together has been great so far and whether they remained as just friend partner or love partner, I would be fine with both. Hope the quality remains for the next 10 episode.
I guess those who are in mainly for the thrill and action, to watch zombies on a blood quest and people getting…
They are not essentially dead yet and has this lucid state where they act normally again (until it became too late and they fully turned.) So rabies-like or mad dog disease would be the best way to describe it especially since the actual rabies symptoms causes patients to not actually be able to quench their thirst and there is much more similarities than you think. Guessing they also would be trying to find the cure or vaccine so rather than cause panic, rabies is the way to go.
Though in my mind, I kept thinking about that point too since as a viewer, this is a zombie outbreak pretty much but not with the usual slow zombie and more of the train to busan version. So far, I like the way they explain how the people get turned and how the normal citizens react to it. Clearly we have drug dealers that has given up into insanity and also the husband+wife duo whom are living at the apartment floor above MC's place. Husband definitely brought back ladies to the home so that they get eaten by his wife to quench her thirst. That's just one thing they released enough hints of which you can speculate.
This show is based on the completed webtoon.Link to watch (Eng Sub): https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLkH5IoAQDW0ZRpvuLeBbDccqzXz77AGqCEng…
Thanks for the links. I have watched it and it definitely did not have any filter to it. I enjoy seeing the human behaviour in an enclosed space as they try to win the prize money.
What a romantic Sunday it had been since the airing of this drama. A satisfying conclusion to a wonderful set of cast members whom truly enjoy acting together. You can just feel their enthusiasm and willingness to show their best performance to us in a lighthearted mood. That's something I appreciate a lot about and would miss this show dearly. It is not just a rom-com but so much more with a diverse set of characters. Got me smiling all the way till the end and sad during key moments.
side note, whats with the stylist for the show?? hong was wearing this horrible neon blue shirt in ep 11 and in…
The Christmas present looking dress was actually worn by IU recently in her vogue photoshoot in collaboration with Gucci so it is the latest fashion made by that company. The stylist probably went for the latest city fashion item.
Agree with the comment below about how I won't be interested with the mere 8.1 rating since the ratings in MDL are usually quite accurate since it is based on viewer's review. Luckily I got recommended by someone to watch the drama and I like the casting for this so I decided to take the plunge and watch it.
Turns out the drama was enjoyable and interesting as it progresses. First few ep were really annoying at hindsight but they are trying to present two very flawed individual with their own issues. It gets solved by the end of the series in a very unique way which I liked seeing. It can be both funny and emotional when it needs to. The time travelling aspect was a great touch and the drama is different enough for it not to be an imitation of go back couple.
I can see that people got mad of the big flaws of the main leads which is why they either dropped it or just rate it like in the 7 star range or lower. Thus, ratings on MDL suffered. Personally, I believe it will be more in the 8.4-8.5 range which are the dramas that I would consider watching. It's a happy end btw so just lay back and watch it.
Finished the whole movie and gave it 7.5 stars. I gave my thoughts in the long post under recent discussion so feel free to have a read once you finish the movie. TLDR, I have a love hate relationship with this movie.
Just finished this drama and felt that this drama was really laidback with not much going for it. It looks like a simple love story that is predictable for its ending but there is this feeling of weirdness present which doesn't exactly make the dialogue flow smoothly. I was confused and it didn't get to be emotional nor exciting.
My takeaway from this drama was that it is constantly hinting at the idea where women is unpredictable, the idea that men not being proactive is not masculine, the idea where in a relationship it is always in favour of someone being loved and that other person to give love, the idea of not considering the status of the other person (married) and then forcing yourself upon them due to self-love and the idea where being "family/long time friends" makes it harder to be a couple. This sums up the whole movie in one paragraph and perhaps it is why the story became more one-dimensional (which was funnily enough, intentional in a certain sense when there is a dialogue that says "to stop talking about love and talk about politic, crime, agriculture etc").
This story is indeed about an unrequited love of a man that had a different love language (acts of service) to the woman whom doesn't see that but denies his feelings. For the 18 years spent, I can see that her love language could have been quality time and because she spent that long period of time with this guy, she didn't want to think beyond the scope of a love relationship outside of being just family. She is indeed selfish as admitted by herself when the guy finally left her. It takes a separation for her to realized how much she missed out on and perhaps she was in love with him but attributed that to Family. He never got her to feel the thrill of a relationship since their time together was never started off in a traditional sense (meeting as strangers, dating, marriage and family). Immediately they seemed to have started off as a family which skipped the whole process of feeling out their love with one another.
Finished the drama and I would say the overall plot was enjoyable with fun moments between the Male lead + Female lead and their child. The way the parallel world came into play didn't come out as being overpowered as there is still some twist where mistakes happens. I liked the way they went with that. Acting was great and the action stunt work is present (albeit not as flawless when punches get swung in the air). Plot holes do exist when coincidence became forced.
Overall, I gave the drama an 8 since it is way above an average kdrama but it didn't become a top tier drama. I recommend giving it a watch if you are looking for a crime solving + parallel world kdrama.
The drama definitely accentuate the genre of "romance-comedy". I was laughing from the start till the end of the show and the content is really relevant. Romance is totally there between the physical touches and no awkward kisses. It was an enjoyable ride.
Is the second female lead in this likeable or sympathetic? The actress usually plays antagonistic roles so I want…
I would say that Kang Hanna's role this time is still on the partial antagonistic side but not in the way where she try to form a love triangle with the lead's couple. Early on she comes off as strong and cold but she becomes more likeable and siding on the heroic side as you get to know her in the future. So, I definitely recommend giving the drama a watch and she looks really stunning with her short hair.
Finished the drama and it is a hidden gem since the viewership ratings isn't high apparently. It's a worthy watch regardless since there is depth in the character's backstory and the interaction of the cast isn't forceful. I enjoyed the whole drama so I do recommend give it a try.
Started this drama just now, the first episode seems interesting. Is the ending satisfying or would it make me…
Not sure if you have finished this drama already, the ending is a satisfying one and mostly happy. Main Lead got their ideal job at the end working in the best environment with the best people possible. The first 30 min of the ep 1 shows a preview as to how the ending turned out so be sure recall what happened with that and discover which characters appeared in that short scene.
I have finished this drama and my take on the drama is that the beginning is exactly identical to somehow 18. The scene matches 1 to 1 which is why I feel like Somehow 18 does a better job despite having very short screentime. It is only up to a certain part in the middle that they added more variation and romances between the leads that interest me most. The original scenes they added and the new side characters are the best part of this drama. The leads acted well and fit the youth category very well so I have no complained over that. Perhaps the male lead's character has more flaws in being selfish and disturbing (compared with the Somehow 18 ML) but I realized the character he was playing as a surgeon in the future was very cynical already. The ending is also fleshed out and built upon but it didn't flow as well as I hoped. Lots of repetitions in that sense.
Anyway, I don't regret watching it but it is because I have free time to do so. I enjoyed the drama but I notice the directing and plot is lacking. I recommend Kissasian for english sub in watching this since the youtube/dramacool version has audio problems. I am happy to have discovered Sabrina Zhuang Da Fei from this drama so I am hoping to watch more of her work after this.
I am more disappointed at the fact that they couldn't get the original Female lead to star Han Fei cause she is the most important character along side Jing Hao. There could be schedule conflicts but how I wish the director delay it to get both the main character on the same show again. The side characters I wouldn't have care too much if they were replaced instead.
The drama is solid and I really like the direction it went. I recommend giving this drama a watch because while it may not be impressive, it is not lacking either. Jang Nara acting shine bright and she must have drank some fountain of youth.
I am satisfied with the ending of the story which is why I went a step further to think about what would actually happen after the ending. I am sure the cat is out of the bag regarding the lack of romance and for one, I don't think that was a problem but relationship do get formed regardless if In Bum remains with Ji Ah or not. In Bum would still have the natural urges to want to marry and have children unless he really wants to remain single forever. So I presented some interesting ideas in the discussion page which you can participate in or read if you want :D.
I am really enjoying this drama at the moment. Most of the airing drama has a more depressing vibe to it with less comedy in mind such as Doom and Sell your haunted house so the lighthearted feel to this drama brings more laughter to me for curing my soul. Kang Hanna Visual is just the peak and I would say that her fashion style here fits super well onto her. Definitely recommend a watch regardless of the MDL's ratings because I can see the drama so far has good quality episodes where the "comedic moments" is relevant today.

Goodbye Gongjin and Cha Cha Cha all the way.
