This is not the drama I thought it would be. Somewhere, I'd gotten the idea that this was a creepy techno kind of drama and instead, it was full of love and grief and found family. I didn't see a single character that needed cutting or a plot point that didn't make sense. And while the romance was fairly hands off, when the leads hugged or kissed - they totally made you believe they loved each other. Such a good story!
Considering the reveal at the end, I doubt there will be a season 2. But yeah, the show was awesome! Everything…
The reveal of the killer or of the mysterious person in the Forest? I think both of those are potentially clues to a second season but the show didn’t do well in China at all so I doubt it. youTuber Avenue X has some comments on it: https://youtu.be/ItWn75MO5KE
A pleasant surprise - along the lines of an Agatha Christie "Then there will be none" mystery - wrapped up in a wuxia storyline. I really enjoyed this and will hope for a second season. I've read problematic things about both this drama's reception in China and of the relationship between the screenwriter and the director but - it'll be in my dramaland prayers!
This is the book synopsis: An encounter that brings a paleontology student together with an established actor…
Except that in the novel, it starts after her father's death. She hasn't seen her mother her entire life and she only goes to to borrow some money for her senior year's tuition Her mom didn't care enough to contribute anything to pay for her father's treatment and final death from liver cancer. She meets the actor in passing - in fact, I'm a quarter of the way through the novel and he's not the lead yet at all.
I went back and watched the last few episodes again (they had iffy subtitles the first time) and I'm wondering how they plan on another season? Is this pursuit from beyond the grave by Su Fu part of the novel? Also, wouldn't it be easier for the Emperor to keep Xiao Song happier in order to keep him working for him? An unhappy Xiao Song is like keeping a loaded and cocked pistol at your side . . . Otherwise, I liked how the stories wove together and how the different characters developed. It had the feel of a real mystery - not just an idol drama with mystery wrapping paper. I really didn't find it boring at all!
I don't know why I put off finishing this drama for so long - it just really had a giant dragging hole in the middle. Even more than most Chinese dramas! It could have easily been a 20 or even 24 episode show. I did enjoy the endings, though, especially how the FL didn't immediately forgive everyone. Give people some time to recoup! So silly and lightweight cross-dressing romance plus unexpected revenge twists.
Mixed feelings after finishing it. In general quite enjoyable series with cute laughs and great OST and ML's costumes.…
I'd say yes to every point here except - I found the FL extremely cute. However, on levels of attractiveness, all main characters were way out of everyday life good looking!
I think I need a refresher on the young character of Baek Kyung's half brother - the one who is always trying to make him happy. Is he also a character in the Palace drama portion? I saw the Dried Squid Fairy there but I'm not sure where the "brother" was.
It must be Yibo fans who rated it high cus I could’ve sworn this had a 7.6 or 8 or am I trippen
Nope, I haven't watched anything with Yibo yet (I know, I know) and I've really enjoyed this so far. Generational problems, work problems, interesting gaming scenes, romance, bromance - I was really impressed. It reminds me of a far longer weekend drama compressed into 35 episodes. FL is innocent but not that much - more like she hasn't had much of a chance to date in her life yet.
I'm enjoying this but - I am dreaming of the day when leads don't have to have funky vision or face blindness or crazy memory. Determined, hardworking, ready to work through a grudge are all great habits of a lead - he doesn't need a medical reason to be the way he is. I guess a girl can dream!
