I really like XZ from The Untamed. I have been looking forward to seeing his acting; however, he had only been…
Me2. I only like XZ as WWX in The Untamed. I watched Youth Memories... Bleh!
It not XZ fault, after Untamed he could only land roles of goody goody tissue MC. Aka Mr. Nice Guy both in Youth Memories and Longest Promise, this kind of char sux has no life.
I rather MC is devious and cunning at first then becomes nice later on opposite the roles XZ only managed to land after WWX!!
Or rather it more interesting if MC starts out NOT give damn if world burns and goes to hell then slowly cares bout it not like sux ShiYing Nice Priest feels has to shoulder burden of whole world right from the start!
This post spoiled the drama for me. Really ends like Mirror: Twin Cities? That drama I dropped at EP11 I think.
I don't think will finish Longest Promise though reading from some of the negative (but insightful) stuff ppl have said after having watched all 40 eps.
I tired of this romance between teacher and disciple stuff with no value added. Haven't we all seen enough of ChongZi and Castle in the Sky2?
ALSO, I watched this on a movie projector. The CGI scenes where they filmed the foreground in real life but replaced the background with CGI content look really off. Tencent needs to improve their game to make scenes look more real. You can tell right away those scenes are fake.
Not a very high score, 8.0, still many say it's good. I don't know what to think. Is it worth watching?
Not to bash this drama BUT it seems like Xiao Zhan took on the role of Lan Zhan in this drama. It doesn't suit his personality very much. Some scenes seems awkward/out of char becoz Xiao Zhan not fit for this role but someone more like Wang Yibo...!
I'll be honest, after the first episode or two I was very iffy on this show but now im on episode 13 and its becoming…
This drama is a copycat of the classic Chinese story White Snake. Shi Ying is the (male) White Snake. The change Tencent made in order to avoid being called a plagiarist is that one of them dies and reincarnates. In the original White Snake story, her lover dies and reincarnates. In this story the "White Snake" is the one that dies and reborns...
WHITE SNAKE CLONETencent is the biggest copycat company in China. Of course they have to make changes to avoid…
BTW, I'm wondering how Xiao Zhan felt when he read the script and went "I'm going to be playing a male/guy White Snake." If it was me I'd be giggling with joy for playing a classic Chinese folk character with sex switch!
I love how Tencent shows no shame in mimicking the works of others. Like that beast in the first few episodes that only kill righteous ppl (who claim to be original/never copy from others) while leaving sinners alone. Tencent is the kind of "sinner" such beasts would leave alone...
I guess little troll trying to sell some projector in discussion thread not going well 🙄
Nope, it worked on you at least (the advertising got you -- that y you make this comment after reading my forum thread). BTW, I'm enjoying TLP on my movie projector every day. Add some blackout curtains can use the projector even at noon when the sunlight is maximum brightness.
Tencent is the biggest copycat company in China. Of course they have to make changes to avoid copyright lawsuits. BUT I became highly suspicious when Shi Ying wore the white dress and white hair band to officially become a priest on his 18th birthday. Plus he always walks around carrying an umbrella. That settled it. Tencent copied the character White Snake especially the CGI anime movie version. Instead of a female, Shi Ying is the male "White Snake". Instead of being able to morph into a white snake, Shi Ying morphs into a furry white animal:
Look at that! Why if it isn't Shi Ying the "White Snake" clone... (notice her two long white flowing hair band ribbon ends plus the umbrella she and her boy use to fly around the scenic spot. It's not a coincidence Tencent similarly dressed Shi Ying umbrella included!)
BTW, I'm just pointing out what I see. I like White Snake the 2019 CGI movie (except the sex scene -- HK productions should stop copying West/Hollywood with inclusion of sex scene[s] in something supposedly rated PG). Anyways, Tencent mimicking something I like earns them some brownie points...
Watched Up to Ep8 so far. Drama felt like a better version of Chong Zi. Even begins with FL becoming ML's first disciple. I guess the only difference, in Chong Zi the basterd master Luo YiFan stabbed his disciple the FL to death with no remorse immediately afterward. In this drama ML will get killed by FL instead. If it weren't for the A+ SFX, I'd probably be bored with this drama. The other thing I didn't like, Tencent taking Return of Condor Heroes characters, switching their sex so Xiao Long Nv becomes the cold but good looking male master instead dressed mostly in white while Yang Guo becomes the cunning female disciple often badly/weirdly dressed compared to her master. Then they apply the same formula over and over again in their dramas it getting a bit stale for me: Castle in the Sky 2, Chong Zi, and now Longest Promise.
BAI XIAO CHUN meets WEI WUXIAN!! I was pissed Tencent let Croton completely RUINED Mirror Twin Cities. I've only seen 6 episodes and it IS better than Twin Cities. I'm still pissed Tencent gonna let Youku ruin A Will Eternal. BUT hey Bai Xiao Chun actor from that drama is in this show...
This currently has a 7.5 rating from 259k votes on douban
Personally I'd stay away from this drama if any1 hasn't begun watching:
1. How I started a medical equipment company with all my friends and became its chief salesman. This what the entire plot about. I couldn't believe they made a drama out of such boring genre or theme.
2. Netflix made/is making Three Body trilogy that will be littered with anti-CPC propaganda. So the CPC invited Tencent over had a chat and decided the best counter-offensive is making a boring pro-CPC drama like this one. The reason they got Tencent involved because only Tencent had international reach. This was important because a pro-CPC drama does no good if only ppl in China watched it. They specifically hired Xiao Zhan because he's the only recognizable superstar outside of China thanx to The Untamed.
3. The rating is rigged. Because obviously this is a pro-CPC drama meant to dilute any anti-CPC works from abroad like Netflix's Three Body, obviously the rating will be rigged...
4. If you love China don't watch Netflix's Three Body. They'll do scenes to make CPC look like terrible authoritarian dictatorship and the West look like angels!
This drama finally airs and we can see Tencent decision making:
1. Youth Memories sucked so bad they had to quick launch Longest Promise. Can you believe it a drama all about starting a business in medical equipments, a genre so boring starring the actor that propelled Tencent to fame via The Untamed. That y they had to launch Longest Promise immediately!
2. Tencent also believes Hark Tsui is liar or they would save saved Longest Promise to air coincide with Legend of The Condor Heroes the movie. We're talking about the director that hyped the making of Return of the Condor Heroes only to have it turned to vaporware. Either that or Tencent felt it not kool to let Condor Heroes dictate when Longest Promise should air...
IMO Tencent should do a live action movie or TV drama of Perfect World anime. It's a funny and cute but very awesome derivative work of Fengshen trilogy. It features all the chars in knock off form like the MC is Ne Zha, his old ghost master is Jiang Ziya, even has the Monkey King but as an ape instead of classic monkey!
1. Tencent is one of the biggest companies in Mainland China and We TV is their less important branch. Their main…
LOL. Basically you're implying Tencent Video don't matter to Tencent overall business. LOL LOL LOL. Lots of crap get shown on Tencent Video. Because Tencent is competing with Hollywood outside of China, they crack down on the crap and only show the best on WeTV. Meaning they don't make shows just to show exclusively on WeTV. Only the best get aired there for the extra money from international viewers.
ALSO, there is something call ecosystem in the business world. You support the loss making business to pull people into your ecosystem. It's the same way with Huawei. Every high-end folding phone they sell makes them lose money. BUT they make them to pull people into their ecosystem.
It's arrogant to make the comment that WeTV/Tencent Video is a speck of dust to Tencent. How else they gonna pull people in and use their other products and play their games? WeTV/Tencent Video is the advertising agent for Tencent's other more profitable business branches! Hence, it's just as important as WeChat QQ etc.
To you WeTV don't matter. But to Tencent, they live and die by it, because you kill the advertising agent for the other business branches you kill the revenue flow to them. It's like you think the anus and toes don't matter to the human body, but you need it to poo and you need the toes to support and fine balance the arch of the foot and to provide traction during movement.
I suggest you go take a business course, then come back here and comment again!
This drama airs in 2024. At the heart of it, Will Eternal is just a knock off of Condor Heroes RETURN (the sequel). Bai XiaoChun is Yang Guo and Song Jun Wan is Xiao Long Nv.
Hark Tsui is making Condor Heroes movie aiming for 2024 release. When ppl watch it, they gonna go "where is part 2 the sequel"? That's where this drama comes in... The Sequel knock off!

If's that's the case, I'd be disappointed if child Bai Ying doesn't make a cameo appearance in this drama...
