I can never really understand people who complain about cliches. Why exactly are you watching cdramas then.? I'm…
Exactly. Most dramas have clichés. Honestly clichés are the reason why many people watch dramas. Even kdramas are full of clichés. What makes a drama good is the execution of these clichés. How the actors play these clichés is also important. Even the unique dramas that we have still use clichés. So if the storyline has been used expect clichés. Look out for its execution, acting of the actors and pacing.
I dont know abt this pairing. But I believe in Xing Fei. Gonna watch this for her. Not really a fan of XZL , he has the same facial expressions in most of his (contemporary) dramas. I dont watch Wuxia dramas so I’m not sure of his acting in those kind of dramas. Loving XF’s currently airing drama, Hello, the Sharpshooter.
Been awhile since I’ve watched a cdrama. Last one I’ve seen was Once We Get Married which I highly recommend. As for Nothing But You, I enjoyed the drama in spite of its loopholes. Let me list down the good and bad things of this drama.
Good: Good chemistry of the leads Right pacing of the story Good acting of FL as Bi Xiao Premise of the story was good ML’s acting is good
Bad: Characters were poorly written - Creepy and cringey ML at times but he looks good haha - FL is immature, childish and irritating - FL has no character devt till the end; no backbone and relies on others most of the time - annoying brother of ML (this might also be an acting issue) Premise of the story was good but it fell flat along the way. FL’s acting was good as Bi Xiao. That character really suited her acting. But I really dont like her acting as JJ. At times it was over the top. Maybe acting two diff characters in a single drama might be too much for her. I’m used to cutesy, childish and immature FLs in cdramas. I dont know why they always have to be portrayed like that. Most FLs have progression throughout the drama but not in this one.
I suggest you give it a try. I enjoyed it in spite of its loopholes. Honestly I have little expectations when it comes to cdramas. I usually watch it for the fluff, overused clichés and to have a break from serious dramas.
Curious as to what other drawing Yeonsu ruined. The first one was their school (ep4). Was it a drawing of Yeonsu? I love this drama. It’s giving me diff vibes. Honestly we dont know what kind of ending we’ll get. I hope they’ll get back together.
so surprised to see some negative comments, I know the show has a lot of clichés but it's one of the best and…
Me too. Was even surprised that the comments are about the clichés used in this drama. The theme itself (fake marriage) is already a cliché so it’s no surprise to see a lot of those in this drama. What sets this drama apart from the other fake relationship/marriage dramas is the execution of the clichés plus the amazing chemistry and superb acting of the leads. It’s not a perfect drama, yes there are plot holes but the drama was able to maintain its substance till the end. Most cdramas with this kind of storyline drags the story and loses its direction along the way. Then they’ll wrap the story too quickly.
This is unarguably one of the best contract drama's i've watched(Trust me i have watched ALOT!!!!). The chemistry…
Same here. This is is my favorite theme - fake rel/marriage dramas so I’ve seen a lot. Once We Get Married is one of the best fake relationship cdrama I’ve watched. Though its budget seems low, the quality is so good. It’s a properly executed cliché drama.
Why do people expect something new in fake rel/marriage dramas? The theme is a cliché itself. This has been used many times so I dont get why the reviews focus on the use of clichés and overused storyline and scenes? Most dramas have similar storylines/themes, what sets them apart is the execution of the story, acting, chemistry, visuals and pacing of the drama.
Once We Get. Married is one of the best fake rel/marriage cdramas Ive watched. Solid storyline, great chemistry of the leads, just the right pacing to keep you interested. There are still plot holes but overall it’s a good drama. A properly executed cliché drama. Really enjoyed this drama. Hope to see another project from Wang Yu Wen and Wang Zi Qi.
I was crying most of the time in ep14. Great acting from the leads. They really have an amazing chemistry. Chemistry is not just about giving viewers butterfly scenes but making the flow of story smooth and not awkward for viewers. They connected really well with the characters. I like how the writers wrapped up Ji Na and Hyun Kyu’s story. Sometimes we’re so hung up in the past that we forget that things have already changed. I felt sad for Hyun Kyu. I like his character development. Their conversation on the bench was really good. Just them in the present while looking at the past (football field). As for MM and TDK ending, I was heartbroken. I know this part will come but I never expected it to be this sad. The actors really did an amazing job here. I felt the desperation, regret, sadness and courage of both characters. Ep13 and 14 were the best eps for me.
Hoping for a happy ending for our leads. My fear before was we are looking at MM reliving his memory of TDK. Well, the opposite might happen. We are looking from TDK reliving MM’s memory. The ending they’ll meet in a dream. Many says he will be reborn as a human. Since the butterfly has died and the plant has blossomed. Plus the deity extended her life as she wants to see the flower bloom. So these are hints that MM might come back, but not as doom but just as human. So lets see in the last two episodes. I’m gonna miss this drama so much. This drama will always be special for me as it has brought back my love for kdramas.
This is a good explanation. When the reset was done, was the contract temporarily suspended or nonexistent at all? Because the bracelet and the phone remained. I was thinking that the deity can’t undo the things that resulted from freewill. The bracelet signifies the free will of TDK and MM entering the contract. Mobile phone was given by TDK at her own freewill and MM accepted it. I thought about this because when MM and TDK was talking in front of the beach ep2, TDK asked MM why cant he end the world by himself. He said humans have an upper hand on that. MM thinks that human wishes are powerful enough to destroy the world. Even the reset has to be decided by TDK. The deity can only offer but not make the decision for her.
When their memories returned or rather when they remembered each other, the writings on TDK’s notebook came back. I was thinking that at that point the contract has been activated again.
Yeah there were loopholes in the plot that were not properly explained. Sometimes when writers try to be mysterious they forget some essential elements of the story.
Ep13 was one of the best eps so far. I like how they remembered each other. That scene was amazing. Sad that we only have 3 eps left. Not gonna predict the ending anymore. Just gonna enjoy the last 3 remaining episodes. Dont know how can I move on from this drama. If you’re loving the drama that’s great, if not that’s okay too. Hope you’ll find a drama that you’ll love as much as I’ve loved DAYS. Have a good day everyone!
Idk why people are thinking of dropping the show?!Like even though it feels like the story is dragging at pace,…
I also dont know. This is when the story starts to pick up and unravel the whole thing. I guess people are expecting something different. The pacing might be too slow for them. Sad to see the ratings go down. It’s really a beautiful drama.
Good:
Good chemistry of the leads
Right pacing of the story
Good acting of FL as Bi Xiao
Premise of the story was good
ML’s acting is good
Bad:
Characters were poorly written
- Creepy and cringey ML at times but he looks good haha
- FL is immature, childish and irritating
- FL has no character devt till the end; no backbone and relies on others most of the time
- annoying brother of ML (this might also be an acting issue)
Premise of the story was good but it fell flat along the way.
