I couldn't find any information about the novel -- I tried both in English and Thai but it's nowhere to be found... I'm starting to wonder if this novel really exists.

No need to be sorry, I rewatched it because I wanted to give a reply that made sense lol and because I also wanted to understand it better.
You could be right. Everyone is different and we all respond differently to certain situations. As you said, maybe he is trying to convince himself that he's doing good, when in fact he isn't.
"There's suddenly the sound of a car crush. Shin thinks this feeling is the feeling of freedom and can finally…
No problem. That's a good question, why would he commit suicide at all after 5 years and after saying he is now doing well? I've rewatched the ending to reply to your question and I found out something interesting. First, we should distinguish between what Shin tells US and what he tells HIS FRIENDS. In my opinion, Shin can lie to his friends not to make then worry, but he can't lie to us and to himself, especially not a few moments before ending his life. Now, what he tells his friends is: "Past is past", "I won't do anything like that again", "I'm a new Shin full of happiness"; these could be all lies. However, what he tells us is: "I decided to change myself", "my parents allowed me to make my own choices and that made me feel happy again", "at he end I'm the one who must move on"; these things must be true, so I will only take these into account. Here is my theory: it's true that Shin decided to change himself and his life, but he never tells us that he succeeded. Also, he says that the freedom and trust his parents gave him made him feel better and certainly happy, but sometimes that isn't enough to overcome a terrible pain. The sentence "at he end I'm the one who must move on" right before rushing to the bus stop is very significant. It could mean that despite the effort, he wasn't able to move on from his past. Shin has TRIED to restart his life, but he has realised that his trauma keeps hunting him, his suffering doesn't go away, the memories are still there. While he was walking by himself, reminiscing the past -- because of the meeting with his friends -- and thinking about what happened in his life, he saw some malicious comments and those made him feel hopeless and helpless again. He felt overwhelmed and he thought that his condition would never improve. He would rather die than having to cope with such a trauma for the rest of his life. So, he stepped in front of that car.
"There's suddenly the sound of a car crush. Shin thinks this feeling is the feeling of freedom and can finally…
I've been depressed myself and I don't think that people who suffer from depression try to convince themselves of anything. At most, they can reach a stalemate in which they can't go on with their lives, but they also can't kill themselves because they aren't brave enough to take that last step. But even in that situation, they are very conscious of their own condition. I don't see the point in telling the viewer that Shin has changed a lot in those five years and that he has started a new life if that's not true. In the end this is a series, not real life. The few things they tell us about the characters should be true, otherwise we can't understand or give an interpretation of what we have watched.
There are people who think that Shin and Keng met voluntarily to end their lives because they couldn't overcome their problems. I personally can't take that possibility into account. For Shin to commit suicide -- such an intimate, personal act -- together with his tormenter -- the one who ruined his life, the one he should hate the most -- is simply disturbing. As "Aku No Hana" has taught me, a double suicide can be a bonding moment in which you share the most vulnerable part of your soul and deeply relate to another person. I don't think that Shin wants to compare his suffering with Keng's; but more importantly, I believe he would hate the idea of being reunited with Keng in death.
The only scenario in which both Shin and Keng committed suicide I can imagine is as follows: Shin and Keng didn't meet; they committed suicide individually, but the author and director summed it up in one scene just to give a hint to the reader/viewer about what happended.
What I appreciate the most about this episode is how much Type has changed and how natural Tharn and Type are as a couple. In Thai BLs you usually don't see a growth in the dynamics of the two lovers when they show how the couple is doing after a few years, but in this episode you clearly see the change. Compared to the series, here Type is SO caring, he strongly believes in his relationship with Tharn, he is open about it and he treats his lover like his actual boyfriend, the person he loves the most. They are really credible as a couple and their naturalness is amazing. I've loved this special.
Dark blue is the colour of water; to be more precise, it's the colour of a deep ocean. We know that at the beginning Kao doesn't want to tell his mother about his relationship with Pete, so the title "dark blue kiss" suggests that Kao wants to keep their connection a secret from other people: he wants to live with Pete underwater, where there's peace and calmness, where no one will disturb them, where no one can see them, where they can share a kiss without being noticed or judged (https://imgur.com/a/1HisC9Q).

-- THEORIES ABOUT THE ENDING --
1. Shin's suicide. Despite the psychological and moral support he received, Shin couldn't overcome his nightmares and finally committed suicide. He saw death as the only escape.
2. Keng's suicide. Keng couldn't overcome his sense of guilt and loneliness and he couldn't live according to his parents' expactations, so he committed suicide. Shin feels free from his tormenter.
3. The car accident is metaphorical and it symbolizes the death of the "old" Shin and Keng. After being raped, Shin received the psychological and moral support he needed from a psychologist, his family and his friends and that helped him a lot. At the end of the series, he himself admits that at a certain point he decided to change because he didn't want to be depressed anymore and he was able to graduate and slowly regain his happiness. He also says that "the past is past" and he is now a "new Shin". Now, why would he graduate after a break of 2 years if he was still depressed and he didn't want to live anymore? Also, why would he lie to himself and the viewers by explaining how his life has changed for the better? That wouldn't make sense. So, my theory is that neither Shin nor Keng really committed suicide at the end. The car accident signifies that Shin's past self doesn't exist anymore -- he literally says that his current self "is not the same as when he was 18 years old"; in other words that experience changed him forever, but he has also started to feel better and he is now ready to go on with his life -- and the same goes for Keng -- he must have felt terribly guilty and he surely had a lot of time to think about his wrongdoings; during those 5 years Keng had to reconsider his life choices, too, and now he probably has overcome his demons and problems.
I have to ask because it has been bugging me: did anyone know what was going on with the twin who was in Yu Shi…
According to the character description on the official page of the series, Xia De is "very apologetic towards Yu Xi Gu because due to Xia En’s provocations, he ended up being targeted by his friends", he "cares about Yu Xi Gu" and "he speaks up for him during gathering with his friends". Some people believe that Xia De has feelings for Yu Xi Gu, but I don't agree. Xia De is certainly curious about him, but I don't think it's in a romantic why. Maybe his interest is more similar to Yu Xi Gu's initial attraction for Xiang Hao Ting: Yu Xi Gu was fascinated by Xiang Hao Ting's free spirit, Xia De is curious about the unapproachable, stoic and popular "study machine". He respects him and thinks highly of him -- hence, the defensive position. Plus, he is the only member of the gang who is in the same class as him and directly sees the effects of Xiang Hao Ting's bullying, so he is the only one who truly feels guilty. Since they are in the same class, Xia De knows that Yu Xi Gu is a good student who works hard, makes sacrifices and never does anything wrong, so he is even more sorry. When Yu Xi Gu and Xiang Hao Ting tell the gang that Hao Ting's parents support their relationship, Xia De is smiling and even jokes around; he definitely isn't sad, angry or jealous, so for me it's pretty clear that he doesn't see Yu Xi Gu as a possible love interest.
[Disclaimer: this is my personal (unpopular) opinion, let's all be respectful]With all the good comments and reviews…
4. The last lines of the drama are very problematic. They gave me the creeps because they hinted at pedophilia (Thun: "You liked me since I was a child, right? Because I was already handsome when I was a boy" / Mes: "Oh, a little"... WTF! Thun says that "you can't lie, lying is a crime", but liking a little boy is also a crime, don't you know it?). I don't care if it was intentional or not, I can't interpret it in any other way. Had Mes brushed it off, I would have thought it was a joke, but he actually replied "yes, a little", so I can't accept it. If the English subtitles are wrong, then I'll blame the translator for creating such an awful misunderstanding.
