People keep saying they are disappointed that this wasn't a BL. I personally don't care that much if it was a BL or not (I didn't think it would be in the first place), but to be fair, it WAS (and I was surpised when it happened). Kim and Way loved each other very much, they both managed to confess their feelings somehow and we saw bits of their relationship from Pan and Way's perspective. The fact that Kim died was very disappointing, but it has nothing to do with the series being a BL or not. Also, the presence of a "straight" love story doesn't erase Kim and Way's love. As many pointed out, it's called "The Shipper", not "The Shipped". Pan has always been the protagonist and Kim and Way were supposed to be a subplot. They gave us more than I expected, honestly. Plus, we all knew Pan would end up with Khett at the end, it wasn't a last-minute surprise. Now, am I disappointed? Yes, I am. Since they did give me more than I expected, I was rooting for Kim's return -- which was plausible since this is a fantasy drama -- and couldn't wait for Kim and Way to be happy together. Am I VERY disappointed? No, I've seen worse endings out there and everything made sense in the end here.
It's simple: I'm disappointed. Not because the show ended up being a "straight" drama instead of a "BL" one as many claim, but just because I couldn't see two people who loved each other be together.
The whole situation with this drama is so unfortunate. They had all the promotional pictures, trailer and footage ready to be released, but now they have deleted everything, even their social media accounts... I wonder what happened :/
Much ado about nothing. This was nice but not great. Overrated drama. Apart from being a SK production, what's…
Agreed. I also think that this series is overrated and the excitement surrounding it is exagerated. The actors fit their roles perfectly, but apart from that, nothing really stood out to me. It's a pretty average story full of clichés and stereotypes. The ending was also pretty underwhelming since it was very rushed. It's a short drama you can enjoy when you have nothing better to do, but it's far from the masterpiece some people claim it to be.
"...my dislike for sequels. When I start a title, I don’t have the mindset of 'oh gosh, I hope this has a sequel'".
That's me. If the series has a proper ending, I never feel the need for another season. I'm almost annoyed if a new season comes up because I kinda feel obliged to watch it and re-open a chapter that I had already locked in my mind.
Honestly, their relationship and chemistry were just meh. Really bland. The main lead carried everything on his…
I'm at episode 13 and I can't bring myself to watch the remaining episodes. As you said, the plot itself is pretty unoriginal and full of bad clichés -- it reminds me of those mediocre and overly melodramatic shoujo manga I've always despised. Plus, the material they had to work with was so scarce that the drama ended up being repetitive and full of filler scenes -- see the first encounters between Lee Young Joon and his brother, where the characters would say absolutely nothing important and they would just end up picking on each other. It's slow and dragged out exactly because of the lack of narrative material. I think that a movie adaptation would have been a better choice. The fact that there was no character developement whatsoever also didn't help.
It because you not a true fans that why you don t known the real reason why the show got that way. Even Tutor…
This show has many problems (poor characterization, random plot, repetitive scenes, choppy editing, annoying sound effects, unconvincing acting for some of the actors...) and none of them is related to COVID-19 because they all started to show already since episode 3. I still remember how big of a disappointment episode 5 was for me -- and a lot of other people.
I've just completed this series and I must agree with your review. August and Bright had the best chemistry and the most interesting storyline. Surprisingly enough, the most natural scenes were the most intimate ones for all the actors.
I've just realised that Fluke was supposed to be in the cast of HeartBeat The Series, but the project is currently discontinued: https://youtu.be/vOeZh2uT7_E?t=42.

That hit me a bit too hard.
Interesting article, though :)

Also, we have a wonderful plot here. I can't wait for this drama to air!
