I checked it out since you praised it so much, but to me it looks like a regular cdrama, very hyped up overly dramatic and with really fake acting, and silly dialogues. Like a typical cdrama. I quit :)

Chinese are definitely interested in taking over the industry, it is a huge amount of money. They copycatted kdramas and even have huge cdrama productions - like Pursuit of Jade - but .... it is so ... crude.
Very childish dialogue and fake acting. No humor or anything finer. But who cares, right... ? cdramas look like a fireworks show, one bombastic image after another, and the audience globally already has no focus and is not able nor willing to watch more than pretty pictures whizzing by fast. The Big Brother does NOT have to use violence to rule over ppl :)

I udnerstand, smart characters make for a more exciting and smarter drama.

As for fashion - wow those low heel leopard slippahs that CEO Cha wore with the gray suit - wow
And YM's brown/cream pantsuit - wow
I also liked YM in khaki silk and lighter khaki coat. The fancy top with jeans is also swell.
Baek Ho looks good in "yuppie" clothes khaki slacks and top
I think FL actress as a person really likes the Jun Ho actor, she lit up in scenes with him

Thanks for this comment, I really appreciate it. KBS is a big name and has had family dramas forever. MBC seems to be the new kid on the block. They made Woman WHo Swallowed the Sun which was ... ahem... low IQ drama :)
KBS2 made Queen's HOuse - pretty good drama after ep ... 25? - and then the FL from there ended up as FL in MBC's First Man. I am following HER :) She always a part of a great cast. Her ML in First Man is really fun, a great actor and a great reasonably realistic script for him. The villain is an amazing actress and drives me bananas with her slimey flippant voice LOL and there are many good actors in there

KBS2 went into heavy drama and revenge. A Graceful Liar was totally Kardashians, so trash, II watched for 2 veteran actors who were amazing, but could not take it anymore and dropped, FL actress was a piece of wood

Queen's House has ML having 2, and Pearl in Red too, and I can think of others. THEY EXIST

Nah my mom watches Turkish series LOL Recipe for Love cannot even compare :) There are other good ones, like Iron Family (until almost the end), Once Again, My Father is Strange, All about my mom, and maybe Five Enough

First Man has better acting, to be honest, the FL actress is phenomenal and was great in Queen's house, and a whole slew of great actors comes with her, always, and plot that is more sophisticated, so it is a quality drama, like a weekend family drama but with some more crime...

I watch Pearl in Red bc it is 1000% local Korean it does not even try to appease Western audience and so to me it has a great value I do NOT wish to see one more plasticized thin "rich young and pretty" stick figure :)

Ough it is disappointing that Graceful Liar was #6... that drama is trashy imo the plot just doesnt go anywhere. There are some excellent actors but FL cannot act and her script is just ... trash she says the same thing with the same facial expressions from ep 1 to 69 ... when I dropped it LOL

I was talking both LOL I have seen plenty dramas with ML who has more than 1 woman :)
Rattling off some drama names... Queen's House... Marry My Husband... Pearl in Red...
etc etc etc you are correct it is less common but it is there :)

The writer wanted to emphasize the difference between the men so the diference is exaggerated.... too much, for my taste LOL But it is ok it fitst with the drama concept of "choosing" between passion and stability ...

so SML is made very vibrant, moving, energetic, sexually provoking and teasing FL, like a teenager would, and he is dressed in hype clothes and long hair, which all makes him look young and fun, and he is frilly and irresponsible in his life and his career, with lots of free time to hang out FL, which all makes hm "exciting" and "sexy" and "adventuresome" - but the reality is, he lives like a teenager :) or like a very young adult in the experimentation phase of life

and ML is made so slow, not moving fast, being stationary, looking tired, stooped over, hunched down, speaking and moving slowly, plus glasses and not trendy hipster fashion clothes.... so he is made to look old and docile and boring .... he has a company and he works...

IT IS A PLAY ON STEREOTYPES, WE THINK STABLE IS BORING AND OLD
we think passion is young and frilly

That is delulu LOL life is not like that.
And even in this drama, ML showed heavy passion and warmth and adventuresomeness as well as deep care. There were some hot steamy moments - that went to waste bc FL is a prude delulu childish snowflake moron

I SEE THAT ML ACTOR IS BORED WITH THIS OVERLY SIMPLE AND OVERLY DEAD ROLE. And I am bored to watch him in it... For example the scene in the hotel room when they woke up from drunk. ML actor was clearly bored, it was like play for kids... It was NOT complex enough. At all.

I think ML is great in really sweet scenes. When she smiles, kisses FL, etc he is just amazing
I dislike his scenes where he is DEAD bc it just does not seem appropriate. He is kinda skinny and tall and hunched over and wounded and shy introverted person, but I think ML's complexity is not shown enough. The character is too simplified to make the point and play on the audience's idea of "stable is old and boring"

So... I suggest to the ML to put himself more into those boring oversimplified moments and ACT COMPLEXITY. He needs to pull it out
