What's Wrong with Secretary Kim is one of my fav dramas. II watched one where she is a spy pretending to be a highschooler - that was meh..... I tried Marriage Contract and disliked it and dropped.

Seems like her old dramas were worth something, but new ones are goners for me. I dropped out of Confidence Queen asap. ANd this one too.

Thanks! I watched Park's marriage contract, and I loved it, and My roomate is a Gumiho is one of my fav dramas and I and did not recognize the ML there LOL he was great indeed!
I remember him clearly from Growing Season, one of my fav dramas.
I will watch The Mighnight Romance in Hangwon then. I will not watch Squid Games. For some reason, I suspect Hollywood and I am staying out of that drama LOL

I am switched to dailies to see real people LOL I am watching a rather cheesy daily Pearl in Red precisely bc it is super Korean local and no plastic ppl anywhere. The FL is a terrible actress and so I fast forward through all scenes of crying and bs, and I watch the ML actor - a middle aged man who is AMAZING, 100% PERFECT in his role, I met ppl just like him :)

I think the audience is guilty of demanding "pretty people" - I see it in Undercover Miss Hong, ppl are swooning for Albert, or in My Beloved Thief, ppl swooning over a violent villain.
Luckily Albert actor is a great actor, and that villain was all right for that role too but ... the way the audience went ONLY after their looks was ... insane. Just insane.

I want to see real people and real faces AND GOOD ACTING rather than a stationary pretty decorative item on the screen - a decorative item that happens to be a live human.

Like ML actor in kdrama Lucifer is one of the best actors out there but was not fancy by any means. His look, his clothes, nothing. But his role is extremely memorable.

Well, many Chinese in the USA and Europe that I have met are still looking too skinny and sickly, as "urban" dwellers ...
But not Koreans. For some reason, Koreans typically look healthy.

As for your cousin... He has to find a way, or else ruin his health... If I were him, I would find a niche or quit acting in such media.

In kdramas... there are dailies where women ARE allowed to be FL with some meat on. So you can run into an excellent actress like FL in dailies First Man and Queen's House .... bc she looks like a real woman. She is not fat, she is just not malnourished. She looks like a healthy and good looking attractive woman. Nice legs :) She is an amazing actress and her dailies are near the quality of the regular dramas. And I am thinking - she has NO REASON to move into the regular short dramas bc... it is too much stress, too much health sacrifice, and so why bother, she is already the grand diva of dailies, has a stable job and fame, and gets to keep her health. She is a TOTAL WINNER.... and we the audience are lucky to have 30 mins of her every day. It is an EXCELLENT actress.

Another choice is to be a side actress and keep your health.
Why do ppl want to become the lead - is it more money? But it means selling your body to the devil, then... no thanks but no thanks!

Another choice is to be a stand up comedian. I saw one, she was quite husky looking and perhaps overweight.

Practically all FLs in recent "regular" dramas that I have seen were not attractive, they were too skinny. Some got away bc they made their character funny, like PHS in Undercover Miss Hong, and some were terribly alarming and ugly and scary, there are too many to list here.

That is the definition of insanity - repeating behaviors that lead to failure...

THE WRITER IS NOT ALONE IN THIS INSANITY... .. this script writer cannot do this UNLESS SOMEONE WANTS TO FILM SUCH DRAMA - so why do those "producers" or whoever they are, why are they buying the script that flopped so many times???? THAT is ,my question...

so there must be something about this that works......
I do not know for sure how it works, but this is my educated guess:
Probably it is super cheap production and probably at the end, they make SOME money, easy way. Probably they just slapped a drama together in like 2 weeks LOL and then rake in the money and it is good enough for them. That is what this seems like

That is sad that she ruined her health to have official lead roles... and then got official lead roles where SHE CANNOT ACT bc of her plastic surgery and weight loss. It is like wasting her entire life to actually regress instead of going forward... and ... seems like it is IRREVERSIBLE.
It is TRAGIC!!!!!! truly tragic!!!!! I hope it can be somehow fixed. If not.. then it seems the worst kind of hell....

You bet I will never ever again watch anything with this FL actress. Absolutely NOT bc it is a sure flop.

I am sorry to miss the ML actor who is sooo good but really I cannot risk wasting time watching this FL.

Also, I got to the same conclusion about FL actress in Siren's kiss - she too is a plasticized robot of 34 kg for 165cm, i.e BMI of 12 and 18 is the mininum for health.

And ML in Siren's kiss is great - this is the first time I "met" him and I am impressed - but I am not gonna watch that drama, I am gonna watch his older dramas.

Sorry but life is short, cannot waste time watching ill people committing a slow suicide by eating disorders and plastic surgery robot look

I am not sure what you are referrring to? Koreans or male gay ppl?

I personally met many S Koreans and they are NOT super thin. They are very nice looking and in very good shape. Some are even on the huskier side but not fat by any means, just muscular. All Koreans I ever met have nice bodies. I met them in NYC, LA and Hawaii. I have never been to Korea.

Male Gay ppl in the USA like to be super thin, many told me that personally. Male gay idea of "thin" is a lot thinner than straight idea of "thin". I have met so many male gay in San Francisco, they were so thin, their legs look like sticks. I really hope they get healthier beauty standards....

but how about those other roles with 37 kg 165cm (BMI 13) adult female actress where she is supposedly some attractive chick... ??? NO IT IS NOT ATTRACTIVE, IT IS UGLY. And it is a total abuse of drama influence to advertise excess weight loss as something desirable

My comment: Imo SML has personality worse than wood.... Imo SML has personality of ... a slave driver. He keeps doing whatever HE wants and ignores all signs of discrepancy with what HE wants.

Love triangles are for some super immature women who think they can be so mean, nasty, fat, skinny, insecure, ugly, lazy, stupid, tired, poor, scared, etc etc etc - fill in AS MANY negative attributes you can think of - AND then you get two awesome guys to fight for you - and you can string them, reject them,etc AND THEY WILL ALWAYS COME BACK AND THINK ONLY OF YOU AND CATER TO YOU.
