My mother watches Turkish dramas that are complete trash. 2 minutes watching with her makes me scream in horror, the plot and the characters are SO STUPID that I dont understand how anyone can make them into lead characters in a drama. Then there are horrifyingly "traditional" creepy toxic Turkish series. So...... In my attempt to woo my mother towards more quality, I found her two other turkish dramas on another channel that impressed me - the acting is great and the plot is ok. I was able to watch parts of those episodes. But still it is rather heavy.
Imo... the Koreans still lead the pack :) nothing compares with kdramas Nobody else has that certain LIGHTNESS, the humor, looking at life with certain compassion and tragicomic humor in a certain understanding and acceptance and forgiveness.
Turkish series are HEAVY

Really I have not found anything so .... wise and light and compassionate like kdramas
Kdramas know the good storytelling and make the character growth #1.
HOWEVER, with all the feedback from international audience, WHICH IS NOT USED TO SEEING CHARACTER GROWTH AND CONSIDERS IT BORING, and esp westerners, who want to see stark pornography, kdramas are now going for these meh plots where there is no transformation.
To have a good story, you have to show going from some flaws and/or problems to overcoming them.
The international audience NEVER sees that back home...
and kdramas have it. They are like mini lessons in life. If that goes away, no more kdramas.
Imo international audience KINDA knows that and that is why it is attacted to kdramas, BUT international audience still prefrs these heavy, desperate, no way out, anxious stories, bc ppl have been brainwashed to consider THAT "storytelling". Heck no, it is NOT storytelling, it is just beating you over the head into desperation and giving up and being a live robot.
AND THAT is the first and foremost reason why ppl are trying to kill kdramas. They are too... powerful.
So everyone who is fighting them to kill them and drag them down and ruin the ratings and make ppl drop them is really into something truly evil. And will pay for it :) bc karmically that kind of person is saying they believe in darkness rather than the light.
Kdramas are about accepting stark reality of physical life yet moving on with a certain sense of confidence and trust that there is something Higher that guides you. Kdramas are marvelous lessons on morality, character, proper living, etc and all with great sophistication, lightness and humor.
AND NO OTHER ENTERTAINMENT ANYWHERE HAS THAT it is something that cannot be copied or fabricated Where does it come from? I think Buddhism and living it in daily life.... suffering as commoners or under colonizers... being independent and not going out to conquer and colonize others... ? I dont know. I really dont understand the background bc I have never studied it nor lived there, But certainly there is something that makes this possible. And it is a unique thing, globally.

I am very alarmed that this group of "gangsters" took it upon themselves to bring the ratings down just bc they dont like the script, SML plot, etc I WANT ML ACTOR AND WOO JU ACTOR TO GET 10 STARS . I want the drama to be success for them. To be honest, I think ML's dad is a great actor and neighbors too... SML actor is ok but his role is not nice... and FL... should be some other actress capable of showing energetic behaviors and connection with the kid and with ML.
Sure, this drama suffers from the slow pace of 20 episode drama - FL ***had to*** check out SML, bc they dated; and ML *** had to *** meet his dad. Those are issues from the past that have to be resolved before FL-ML can be a pair.
Sure the drama is suuuuper slow in showing ***how*** ML and FL become a pair. The pace is very organic and very proper - for a 20 ep drama....
FL has soooo much to grow up. she needs at last 20 eps... Maybe ... the drama is really hollywood and there will be NO personal growth and transformation, and FL stays a child to the end... I wish I could say that for others...

Well they are similar and also there is a contrast - for both pairs... BH is a lot smarter than JM :) and kinder and more giving and more pushy.... so imo they match. He is her Rock of Gibraltar, that stable dependable guy who is her worst critic and someone to get her off her lazy insecure know-it-all play-it-safe dont-make-a-move bum. Imo he is PERFECT for her. She is not a flashy woman and he will appreciate regardless, she will be his princess, always, and that will be very good for her, gives her security. The two of them will have jobs that are stable and "core"... They will be stable family people and lead a very family life with lots of time at home and with family. No big business outgoings and travels and huge business plans and stuff like that. More like "9-5, come home take the kids to the park and the science museum" kind of family. . I think going to the science museum will be the most adventuresome thing they will ever do LOL this pair is soooo not adventuresome at all.... They are NOT the flying kind LOL They are "play it safe and stay cozy and homey kind." Naturally, I expect them to have like 10 kids... But.. I expect JM to have some travel time after her mother dies... JM deserves it.... If that happens before the kids, then JM might disappear (with BH, or him visiting a lot) abroad to have a cooking class - the dorm-class turnkey prearranged prepaid deal - and then she and BH travel together a little bit to some nice easy romantic places... JM cannot travel alone :) ANd if her mom dies after they have kids, then I can see BH and JM taking all the kids on some fun family trips... I think they might just rent a camper and drive to all nice places in Korea and nearby ..... I think they are a PERFECT family for that... they are gonna look like Five Enough :) or maybe two of them disappearing for a very short time like a week somewhere nice and special if the kids are big already...

This pair NEVER gets scared or discouraged LOL once they want something lol and he is cement cold mean and she is very expressive and loving yet super selish and mean and self centered too LOL and wont let him go overboard LOL he cannot escape her unless he gives - nobody would have melted him down but her, with her brazen chasing him.
