BL genre is originally and predominantly written by and for straight women. But nowadays a lot of different people…
that is weird. Why would straight women like to watch bl dramas? what relevance does it have to their life??? Usually ppl like to watch "themselves" on screen

and how can a woman write about BL, something she has no idea about? unless she closely works / lives with bL ppl... but even then...

Straight women like to watch lots of cute guys :) So wouldnt a woman like to watch something about.... a soccer male team lmao or mostly male office, or many cute guys courting one woman? - which is a common topic, practically every kdrma has a love triangle and 2 guys chasing one chick

just a curious question. who watches bl dramas? gays? or everyone like men and women and gays.
Whover is intrested in the drama should watch it - isn't that obvious? lmao
I am straight and I watched some lgbt+ dramas bc I was curious to learn about that group.
I dropped many such dramas bc honestly they are too pornographic and have too much violent streak - e.g. some gay psycho hunts a guy who doesnt know yet he is gay ... and I have learned to weed out those dramas by the drama poster. If the drama poster shows naked ppl, or two ppl in physical contact, etc... that means ... i will ignore that drama.

and some bl dramas like highschool coming of age kdrama HeeSu from Class 2 was super deep and highly artistic, real masterpieces imo. Also jdrama Cherry Magic: Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make you a Wizzard??? is the adult equivalent of HeeSu. and imo has some of the best portrayals of what real love looks like in real life. One ML is a super green flag.

So in all that, I found that my tastes are different than most lgbt+ watchers want and like. For me, their tastes are too promiscuous, and for them, my tastes are totally boring and also "too straight". I like seeing lgbt+ in the context of the whole world, since they too came from some mother and father :) and live and work with all kinds of other kinds of ppl, and they prefer to see dramas only with their kind, as if they live on planet that is strictly lgbt+.

so - you decide what you want to watch and what you dont want to watch.

you need to understand that group anyways since they are everywhere and so they must be around in your own life,
and esp if you have anyone in your life who is like that - family, friend, coworker, former/potential lover , etc... if you have severe hatred against that group..... if you have such tendencies secretly .... if you take care of kids and/or have kids - bc these days kids are FORCED to be gay, androgenous, promiscuous, etc. ...

Also, dont be fooled, gay community is very powerful, they got money and people in high positions, they are all over entertainment industry and donate money to politics and vote, and are actually overall super conservative and actually NOT progressive at all, they tend to selfishly elbow their own personal interest forward (eg. environment exploitation, labor exploitation, autocratic politics, discrimination etc). The fact that they are ighting for lgbt+ rights does NOT mean they pay attention to anyone else's rights lmao .

So do not think of them as some poor people without rights. Yeah there are issues being LGBT+ and many ppl suffer from it, and also ... many rich influential ppl keep pulling strings to help their kind.
it is a very complex topic

Uh oh this sounds so Hwood - escaping the world and paying a huge price for it and not able to step back and FIND A SOLUTION THAT WORKS FOR DAILY LIFE IN THE NEXT 100 YRS ...
so they find this beautiful solution and it kills them? very hwood hopeless, with the message - " dont even try." Sooooo hwood. Esp belitling the natural living ..... making it into something that kills you....

I think this drama could be for real if it showed how Ocean helped them transform and how they were living healthier and happier from that

Why don't they release all the episodes at the same time? This is the only series I'll be watching in May 😭😭😭😭
1 ep per day is to keep audience interaction and thus advertisers, i.e. help kdrama LIVE
and also you need to be here int he Comments enjoying the discussion and going deeper into the drama

Ok how about this - he is not pathetic. He is a psycho in disguise - doing everything for the sake of his father…
Enablers are very common anywhere. It stems from the basic human need to be socially accepted, and the deep roots of that are in the family - because as children we must appease our parents so that we stay ALIVE AND FED :) and even loved :) And our parents are never perfect.
In Asia, it is deeply ingrained societal norm to obey the parents so many ppl have trauma from that.
in the West, it often exists in cultures with tight families, like Jewish, etc. But for most, families are broken, so ppl resort to finding some strangers to bond with, and they too often bond under addictions, such as partying, s.x, drugs... and enabling is #1 principle behind addictions. So in Western media you will often see toxic ppl enabling each other and never getting out of that. Most hwood movies are based on that. OR they show some super lucky small person who by total luck and magic somehow "won the lottery and made it". Total delulu...

The advantage of kdramas is that they show the problems but they also offer some solutions. A real kdrama WILL show a person struggling with the obedience to parents and other problems, but the drama will also show how the person CONSTRUCTIVELY AND PRODUCTIVELY AND POSITIVELY SOLVED IT in their life and EVOLVED.

*** that principle of exposing the difficult heavy subject with lighthearted humor in compassion, and the character growth achieved by self reflection, proper communication and proper action, alone and in cooperation with others, is the signature trait of kdramas ***** that is why they are so healing and satisfying. Kdramas are based on the principles of True Storytelling - show th problems, show the struggle to overcome them, and show the transformation.

The beauty of kdramas is that they show specific small steps an ordinary person CAN do to rise up. THAT is precious. And precisely bc of it, kdramas are now being destroyed. There is a great hype and great ignorant and/or slimey effort in that direction.

Ex-hwood audience finds this healing feature of kdamas very attractive but also they are used to heavy hype and pain and doom, and delulu fantasies without any substance, so they ask kdramas to have that... and then ... it can be exploited to destroy real kdramas... if we make only those fake kdramas, kwood dramas...

Some are just chasing money, making it more hwood like to sell more to audience used to that, and some are intentionally maliciously destroying the kdrama concept. For example, current Chinese system canNOT afford to teach ppl how to rise up lmao

yeah there are tons of trashy kdramas, but even the worst trashy kdrama is usually better than something western lmao
and good kdramas are really healing art
I would say most kdramas are spiritual teachings put into a fun story
So even seemingly cheesy rom com kdrama like Spring Fever or Positively Yours or even My Dearest Nemesis have very very profound healing messages

So for that... at least 16 ep dramas showed 1 ep per day, 2 eps per week, and totally "made in Korea"

The System genre finally makes its way into kdramaland. We are just a hop skip and a jump away from hunter slop…
I had to search online what 'system genre" is, so I am writing this post from what I learned today - system genre shows small individuals against the powerful system.

You havent seen Made in Korea kdrama? or kdrama The Murky Stream? Check it out. Totally system genre :) and done in the Hwood way - with the message - "it is HOPELESS to fight the system".
Same for kmovie No Other Choice that recently won an award. Very hwood sustem genre.
Or "reverse system genre" of ppl joining the system - and the Hwood message is "it is very beneficial and if you dont get caught, very great to join the system " - that is kdrama Low Life

but then you have Parasite - a satire in system genre
and Squid Game season 1 is a powerful satire in system genre, showing small wins and overall never ending loss
Vincenzo is in system genre :) but done in very beautiful tragicomical thoughtful satirical way that is such a trademark of kdramas
There are many many many other kdramas where a small person exposes/overcomes a large system and at least makes a small victory - it always involves inner work and cooperation with others - and always the message is - you can make a difference, you can make a small win, but the evil comes back, it is a never ending job of pulling weeds out... STAY ALERT -

and recently there are kdramas like Walking on Thin Ice and Mad Concrete Dreams which are inverted system genre - the message is "sure you can join the system and this is the price you have to pay"

and these are appropriate, realistic and useful messages related to systems :)

So this is not new, that a kdrama instroduces "small man against the system" but HOW it is done ... is different in kdramas than, say, hwood :)
I think you are complaining of the hwood way :)

Even the USA has amazing system genre movies, but they are all made before 2006 or so :)
Matrix, Erin Brockovich, Equilibrium, Idiocracy, The Fifth Element, White Chicks, Legally Blonde, Truman Show, Twilight Zone episodes, etc etc etc are all in system genre and masterfully done. AND THEN SOMETHING HAPPENED AND ALL SUCH MOVIES ARE EXTINCT.
So the same future probably awaits kdramas :) if we are not careful :)

Yes, Hye Jin is coolly evil, eg she intends evil upon HDM at the end of Ep 8. IOW, she intends to produce HDM's…
Nah. she is not evil lmao WHY do you guys think that "love" means only pampering?

**** LOVE MEANS YOU HELP YOUR LOVED ONE EVOLVE *****
so:
*** LOVE MEANS YOU STAND UP TO THE BS OF YOUR LOVED ONE AND YOU HELP THEM OVERCOME IT **
sometimes it is pampering and sometimes ** LOVE MEANS YOU TAKE THE KNIFE WHEN YOU NEED TO FREE YOUR LOVED ONE ***

She is doing tough love now. She wants to push him off the cliff so that he will FINALLY start flapping his wings and fly - or die - so that this stillmate stuck situation finally moves on.
AND SHE KNOWS THAT THE ONLY WAY TO MOVE ON IS TO PUSH HIM OFF THE CLIFF :) otherwise he will not try hard enough.

So yeah, this is the situation - she got tired of him sitting on the shore and complaining about fish swimming around, so she pushed him into a deep choppy fast water and his only way to survive is to SWIM HARD just like the fish lmao

So yeah - now he either sinks or swims. So he better walk his talk :) she forced him to :) She is BRILLIANT and very brave

REad my post above to a similar comment, i dont want to repeat the part about DM having to deal with 200-500 ppl on the set.

Ok how about this - he is not pathetic. He is a psycho in disguise - doing everything for the sake of his father…
I agree with you, it is a razor's edge..... how to be emphatetic but not an enabler... This is a tricky issue :) and a very hard balance to reach...

Every culture has its pluses and minuses. Asians are so tightly packed, such high population density, so the culture evolved to be very conducive to keeping peace, law and order, or else it would have been a total chaos...
And Asians have Buddhism and other very useful instructions for proper living.
But then the dark side of this is the abuse of it, basically corrupting the "original instructions" and reducing the original teachings of compassion to just forcing ppl to be obedient ants in an anthill, and be owned by their parents and family....

(btw the issue of the same nature exists in the West, in some cultures it is still family, but in most of the West it is allegiance to self only lmao and/or work and other groups with common interests as a substitute for the family)

So .... finding that fine line between enabling and empathy and finding discernment... is tricky :) for ANYONE
and especially
If you have been conditioned to think that being an enabler is being emphatetic :)

Just one example: kdramas have this idea that not telling the truth to protect eelings of someone is a good thing. Heck it is not. It is just egotism of the liar, trying to avoid the uncomfortable :) The person will find out sooner or later and it will be a LOT WORSE

So as I said, every culture has its pluses and minuses, its shiny side and its dark side, and discernment is the key here.

Asia will always have to be very ... walking on eggshells carefully around each other bc it is how many billions of people on such small amount of land? It is A MUST that ppl are considerate to a very high degree. But then - how much, where is the line...

and that is for you to determine :) bc it is your land and your culture -
you drive the EVOLUTION of your culture

e.g so far you guys evolved by getting rid of slavery, made some progress to reduce sexism, etc

so how you keep evolving and polishing your culture and yours to decide :)
but there are certain Universal Principles that just cannot be ignored and are the same for everyone anywhere

And also, I think your culture is under attack. With the lowest birth rates globally, you might go extinct. Also, kdramas are the best entertainment out there, based on the principles of Real Storytelling, showing some very fine accomplishments of your culture. Kdramas really are masterful healing pieces and great education for ordinary people to live their lives better. And that is a threat to some :) And also misused in attempts to make more money off it.
So kdramas are under attack now, trying to be exterminated, converted into hwood like trash, etc.

So you gotta fight to survive AND evolve :)

PS - There is a lot more to be said about this kdramas allow your culture to voice itself, and that is being taken away with outsiders like Netflix etc running that business and taking the voice from the local... but that is another topic, How Netflix ruined kdramas. For starters there is a good youtube video by Asian Boss

A good actor is needed for SML. And SML role can be very complex and meaningful.
And I see your point - in this case SML role is too simple.

you are so totally missing it, it is .... completely devoid of feeling another human being. Read carefully what…
I told you to go away and do something else and not reply and there you are, disobeying.

Everyone has a very strong thick wall of egotism. Its purpose is to keep you safe from saber tooth tigers and such. But it takes over our entire life. It is a servant who has taken over as the master and this servant kicked the master out - for some ppl, master is locked up in jail, for some, the master lives in a dirty old shack somewhere far or near and sometimes even shows up. YOUR SERVANT is under attack and it knows it and is self defending.

So this is the paradox - you need that servant to avoid tigers, and yet your conscious mind has to give orders to kick it out of master bedroom and put it back into its place.

So your enthusiasm to my post was an inkling you had that. So now the next step as always is that the servant fights back and refuses to leave the master bedroom.

So that is why you are offended - the servant speaks as the master :)

WHEN YOU ARE READY, you will start looking for the real master. First you will have to make a conscious decision, it is making a decision just like you would decide to enroll in a college program, or buy a car, etc.
AND THEN YOU WILL HAvE TO WORK YOUR AS@ OFF TO MAKE IT HAPPEN :) and it will take time

SO I TOLD YOU
TO STOP READING THIS AND GO AWAY so that your servant does not have the chance to shut all the doors and lock itself in the master bedroom, refusing to leave

I TALKED TO YOU WHILE THE SERVANT KEPT THE DOOR CRACK OPEN, feeling so confident nothing will endanger it lmao
but now it knows it is endangered and it will do everything to shut all doors

So ... sorry... but at this point, you didnt listen and now you are in a tough situation :)

So no more talking here. BYE.

She wanted to hate debut Dong Man's script and has no idea that he has rewritten it all. She's not ready
I dont think she is doing it out of hate. I think she is doing it out of tough love.
She is really trying to help him cut out all his rot, all his lollygagging and bad habits, all his talk and no action, all his LACK OF DISCIPLINE TO ACCOMPLISH TASKS IN REAL LIFE.

She is trying to tough love him and kick him into ACTION
She doesnt know that he already took some action :)

But she is right, he needs to take A LOT MORE action :)

And she just pushed him off the cliff and forced him to start flapping his wings a lot more vigorously to start flying :)

Sure he has a better script but is the revision done yet? He will need another edit... at least!!!!
Is HE presentable yet? CAN he entice the needed actors? CAN he work with the crew? this is the very hard part for him since he is so immature and undisciplined and unruly. Not everyone on the set will be gentle and on his page, so he will have to learn to cooperate with ppl under all conditions....
Did he try to sell his script, etc.etc etc

A film means that 200-500 ppl will have to collaborate as a team. IS DM READY TO DO THAT? HE BETTER BE lmao SHE PUSHED HIM TO GET THERE ASAP

It is a lot more than just a good script :) Yeah it starts with a good script. At least we are almost close to having that. And then... all the rest too needs to happen :)

Title First Man Spoiler
the fun part is that Chairman said that, back then, he went bankrupt and went to jail, and his wife took the daughter…
DS was adopted after Chairman's bio daughter went missing and his wife died out of grief.

So, DS and SH never met until adults, never lived as siblings, and do not share one drop of blood.

So their relationship and kids are ok :)

Ok then. Please do not answer to this post and keep it in the back of your mind.
To do what you said you want to do is a SKILL THAT IS LEARNED
and you will have to get educated.
and imo the best, most concise, logical, down to earth instructions are in Buddhism, esp Tibetan, which is like a cookbook with recipes "how to do." A simple search on "how many negative emotions in Buddhism" will be educational

So no matter what method you use to accomplish your goal, it is helpful to read Buddhist ideas on negative and positive states of the mind and how to transform. They give HOW TO INSTRUCTIONS for self observation without judgment, awareness, and trying to PAUSE and act differently in that split second while you still have a choice. Meditation and prayer. Basically connection with your own inner compass, the Divine in yourself.

So now, pause, and go do something else, or you will be overwhelmed. FORGET what I said :) and let it cook on its own and come back to you later.

SO DO NOT REPLY AND GO DO SOMETHING ELSE :) Have a nice day

The problem is that MDL is a closed-source site. If it were open-source, we could have addressed this issue by…
Yeah, MDL already monitors and keeps track of each user's progress, but those are "point probes" like recording how many dramas you watched, how many hours, etc. Monitoring in real time and then digging for patterns in that would be too much.

But the little details like checking time, would be so easy to fix and MDL *should* be interested in that.

So far the best and easy solutions are:
1. disable rating individual episodes that did not air yet
IF current_date > episode_airing_date THEN ___ the old code to allow rating
ELSE error messsage
2. disable giving star rating for dramas that are currently airing (ie allow giving a text review on any number of episodes, but allow star rating only after the drama ended)
IF current_date > drama_end_date
THEN ____ old code to allow starrating the drama
ELSE error message
___ the old code to enter text review

SOMEONE HAS TO TELL THIS TO MDL

Indeed, appropriate choltes are necessary (e.g. Christans have 10 of those),
and unnecessary choltes are just a wall of fear.

Trying to live like Dong Man for one day could be helpful to overcome attachment to unnecessary strong dislikes used to cover up inner fear.

That is a wonderful new CHOLTE - never to allow egotism to cloud inner peace and compassion.
