I’m behind because my personal life got busy but up to ep 4, no the rating is grossly unfair. I read earlier…
I think you misunderstand me. Both Yu and Kai are very very good in this show. At ep 4 I’m enjoying it tremendously. The rating is unfair. Don’t pay any mind to negative reviews.

Don’t get me wrong, I really like him. He has been in some of my favorite cdramas. But you know sometimes the shows he is in aren’t very good. Not to say he isn’t still a great actor but the shows he is in sometimes aren’t very good. In my opinion. I am never influenced by what others say. And I do t read source material so I’m just judging by my own preferences.

Perhaps I should have phrased it differently. His dramas are sometimes unreliable in that they are not very good or as good as one would hope. True his influence is limited but who he stars alongside is one of them. I see other actors consistently starring in hits even when there is initial doubt about the costar so I have to chalk it up to the casting agent and actors choice.
even if bian luohan become obsessive ML who wants to get yue qi in every way but still i can't hate him 😭😭😭https://twitter.com/xukaidaily7/status/1749793444632133683
Xu Kai is the only actor I know of who can inspire legit shipping wars on the same show between one of his characters and his other equally loveable character 😂😂😂😂
Is the relatively low rating justified? I find for new dramas with popular leads sometimes the rating is skewed…
I’m behind because my personal life got busy but up to ep 4, no the rating is grossly unfair. I read earlier that there are haters down rating the drama for some reason. I’m not sure if they dislike one of the leads or some other aspect of the show. Actually the rating has ticked up a bit since the show aired. I’m enjoying it and looking forward to getting caught up. You can tell the plot is going to deliver a lot of character development and excitement and while sometimes Xu Kai is unreliable I’ve not seen Esther Yu in any bombs, especially now that she seems to be on the rise. I think she has a good agent.
One thing is for sure…both male leads are absolutely nailing the awkward “morning after” bit. Jesus that scene in Sakae’s restaurant when they accidentally make eye contact and both try to force themselves to say something. Anything 😂😂😂😂😂 Damn I was cringing with second hand embarrassment.
Though I am a huge fan of Tribes and Empires (fatally flawed tho it was), and though I feel that Liu Houran is the eponymous reflective and sensitive lead in big, epic cdrama’s, for some reason it took until this weekend for me to give NEL a shot.
I read the reviews and I’ve held my comments until ep 30. It may be premature but so far, I disagree with a few common observations of viewers. 1. Show did a disservice to Asule in not giving him character development. I happen to think he never needed much. From the beginning he had all the makings of a novel hero. Thoughtful, selfless, loyal, brave, large minded. His only flaw was that he was born weak. He gained strength and martial arts ability along his way. Having a somewhat celestial fate helped in that he was able to acquire strongest sword in the world and thus, the allegiance of many. I do think the story could have explained this a bit better, but imo it’s there for anyone to see. 2. Yu Ran has a remarkable character arc. When does this happen? At ep 30 she is still the childish and annoying little brat she was at the beginning. 3. Show is a waste of time because it is t about the 3 leads and their heroic journey. So what? This doesn’t make it any less entertaining. I wonder if this show aired today if it would have been received differently. Can a xianxia not be about a time and a place where 3 people happen to live their lives? Is it that there isn’t any happily ever after where the two couples rode off into the sunset after having vanquished their foes decisively and conquering Novaland? I think it’s small minded of people to discount the great story and even greater production of this show because they can’t understand an epic. Show deserves a helluva lot better rating then 7.9. This might be the biggest rating crime ever committed by MDL users.
Fun ❤️❤️❤️

Bout to rectify that this weekend.
Wish me luck.
