I am really amazed by the acting chops of both Tan Songyun and Xu Kai. Her range of acting is so wide, and she is baby faced. I remember she could play a high school student and even youngest sibling amongst co-stars who are actually much younger in real age.
It's hard to believe that Seven Tan is the same girl in Fox's summer and my Mr. Mermaid.

She only cared for SRQ in the past because she felt sorry for him. And because she already feels indifferent to PWX because she thinks the guy loves another girl, she could only think that the person she saved would be the one who is loyal to her. She was so wrong, it ended up killing them both in the past.

They can't be physically intimate because SRQ became a eunuch by that time. But she on the other hand, made him a cuckold by letting another man into their home. They were still a married couple, he never agreed to divorce. She misunderstood him big time. And PWX didn't insist on clarifying his care for QZZ, it was like a brother caring for lil sister and at that, the CP is his brother in law so he was caring for them both but he only do that because he loves Li Rong. Li Rong on the other hand, is very political and her actions she don't care what other person feels, she thinks what she's doing is right.

I like how they play this out.
there’s a subtle “the villainess is reincarnated” and she tries to be good this time.
Because if the mains were just the good guys, cinderella and her prince, its boring.
So this time the plot is actually the villain is good, story. Like wicked hahaha. Bonus, the husband whom she thought was unfaithful was actually - deeply, madly and hopelessly in love with her.

After that confession and that rain. The best possible thing that could happen is a kiss. But what happened, she just said, I’ll think about it. So ok. Maybe it was the carriage, he couldn’t just grab her and kiss her in the street like that. So she replies she’ll think about it.
But then he also walks away. I feel like this is all on the writer. She catches up, ok. I thought this is it. So she apologizes. And he’s like ok let’s go home first because it’s raining. Man, she is already your wife, and you have just cleared up your misunderstanding. So make her yours.

guys hear me out, if this was a conventional story, the main characters would be QZZ, Li Chuan and PWX. QZZ is cinderella, swashbuckling cinderella and Li Chuan is her prince charming. PWX is the tragic childhood first love/second male lead. But it's not a conventional plot, it's a complicated story. They're starcrossed lovers like Titanic.
But what if the villain were reincarnated to have a chance at correcting their mistakes. So these villains are actually Li Rong and SRQ. aka the grand princess royal, elder sister of the Crown Prince, and wife of second male lead (PWX). She's actually a villain because she can't accept that her husband's first love is her sister in law. So she ends up cheating on him, with SRQ. and manipulating her brother who becomes the king, and everyone else in the palace or controlling the noble families. She went into Empress Wu mode.
But this complicated story needs two characters who are in love for the romantic plot. So Li Rong and PWX got reincarnated instead and SRQ becomes the villain.

kinda disappointed they didn't end this scene with a kiss. why are they making things complicated.
This plot is getting more political. Kinda wished Li Rong and PWX moved like the couple in Rebirth for You, which by the way fits this story more because there is actual rebirth/transmigration going on, plus the Princess FL and subordinate ML too!
