On So I Married the Anti-Fan Dec 5, 2024
When crazy idol fans are watching this drama, I'm wondering if they believe it's true and take it as an inspiration to break into their idol's home, expect to be treated like a guest, get their idol's phone number, could kidnap the idol to make the idol sing just for them.

I'm only watching this drama because FL is likeable, and I like JJ. I have a soft spot for toxic men being obsessed with a woman. In fiction, not in real life. And the manager is so charming. Oh, and the producer and the writer are such a cute couple. The rest was okayish. Many forced romance scenes and rather draggy.

Title My Dearest Part 2 Spoiler
Omfg the first part got me SO ANGRY!!! I have a huge pet peeve with dramas that are developed only on miscommunication.…
At first, I enjoyed the misunderstandings because I expected the characters to be developed. Part 1 did a great job to show how Gil-chae grew. But in part 2? No more character development. Let's enjoy more childish misunderstandings and the good old amnesia trope twice.

The most obvious laziness happened with Captain Gu. He fought for Gil-chae, wanted to have her, accepted her back when she spent the night with her lover, was very understanding and patient, went to the slave market, just to accept some random guy's claim that his wife were sold, then he went home to marry the next best woman? The writers could have put effort into developing this part further instead of adding more "misunderstandings".

Title My Dearest Part 2 Spoiler
Everyone was calling this a masterpiece so i was expecting a lot but I’m honestly disappointed, i liked this…
There is a lot of bad writing going on in part 2. I _assume_ that the producers(?) demanded more room for "romance" and preferred amnesia tropes for the sake of the historical part. Also, it's a Kdrama written by and (mainly) for Koreans. Since Koreans in Korea learn about Korean history, it might be that lots of things were not explained in detail because the Korean audience knows those things.

1 - Joseon was a supporter of the Ming dynasty. When the Qing (Manchu) fought a war against the Ming, it made sense to conquer Joseon to get their supplies, so Joseon couldn't support the Ming anymore. The Qing invasion of Joseon lasted until 1637. The Ming dynasty lasted until 1644. Crown Prince Sohyeon died in 1645.
2 - From what I see, that part is historically accurate. Nobody knows what really happened, and the people in power usually had no interest in clearing anybody's name unless they benefitted from it.
3 - Lazy writing. After the writers put so much effort into a tragic gay love story, I suspect that the producers demanded a fast end. Let's put him in some asylum and don't explain anything probably seemed like a good idea to them. Sadly, it's not uncommon that the last episodes in Kdramas "forget" things and focus on fan service instead.
4 - Why did the babies remain babies for years? ^^
5 - Grand Prince Bongrim was Sohyeon's younger brother. Their mother was Queen Inyeol, not the concubine.

Nobody saved Joseon. If you take a look at the map, Joseon was a rather irrelevant country compared to China. It's full of mountains, which means that agriculture is difficult. It was mainly used as a vassal state helping out with supplies. Also, if you had Joseon under control, nobody could invade you from that side.

If you are interested in history, you could, for example, read the Wikipedia article titled "Qing invasion of Joseon".

Be careful while saying "suggestive" behaviour. Verbal consent is the only type of consent. Rapists might use…
Oh, really? Then I must have been raped for 20+ years by almost all guys I dated because they never asked "may I insert my penis now?" or "can we perform sex now, pls?".

FL does set boundaries, especially with 2ML.
@dramalistsite, as it seems the problem is not english but text comprehension in general. FL does set boundaries. Did I mention when she does? No, I didn't. Obviously not in the first few episodes because that would be boring storywise. Upvoting one's own comments doesn't change that fact.

I have a thing or two against impervious plot armors that goes to the extremes and this drama was structured around…
I thought the same regarding the injuries. The first few times, I shrugged it off but in the last episodes, my eyes rolled back so far that I feared they would get stuck there. The oh so deadly wounds were mere decoration. And I also agree with you regarding the soundtrack. It made almost all the fighting scenes ridiculous because it reminded me of action comedy.

Why do the sageuk writers always have to insert an annoying FL who gets supported by everyone, who can slap people without any consequences, who can stick her nose into everything without any consequences, who is loved by all relevant men, who can imperil everybody but everybody immediately forgives her or never get angry at her, who can draw a sword and train it on someone without any negative consequences? Why are there always special rules and exceptions for that FL only while everyone else has to stick with rules of the drama world?

Actors and addresses don't have to look pretty. They are not after all fashion models. Their job is to portray…
That's wishful thinking. In reality, we care a lot about looks. Or would you trust a lawyer who looks like a drug addict or a surgeon with dirty fingernails?

Actors do have to look pretty depending on the role. Or do you believe that Ma Dong-seok would be a convincing hot and slim FL in a typical romcom? And, look-wise, who would make the more convincing character being called ugly? An actress who doesn't meet (Korean) beauty standards or the typical pretty actress wearing glasses with a shock of tousled hair and and an oversize pullover?

Why did they have to change the actresses portraying Kim Mo-mi so often? Twice would have been sufficient. I wished we had seen more of the "ugly" Lee Han-byeol. Among all those very pretty actresses in other dramas, it was refreshing to see a unique face like hers. Her acting was also quite good, so I hope she'll get more roles in the future. Story-wise it wouldn't have made any difference to keep her because the "pretty Kim Mo-mi" was completely unnecessary. Apart from a few characters praising her beauty, the plastic surgery didn't contibute to the story. In the end, we got an "ugly" Kim Mo-mi again anyway.

Nana as Kim Mo-mi is pretty but she once again stuck out with her non-acting and her dead eyes. In this case, it was okay but it didn't help that nothing on her reminded me of the previous Kim Mo-mi. It was just a different character who happened to have the same name.

Go Hyun-jung as the last Kim Mo-mi version looked fairly ugly with the ugly make-up. I think with a bit of make-up, she could have portrayed the pretty Kim Mo-mi as well. Her acting was pretty decent, too.

All in all, this drama was okay. It had a few good ideas but it is difficult for me to relate to a character who looks and behaves like a completely different person every other episode. I had hoped to watch a drama about an ugly person becoming famous because people believe that she must be beautiful. Once Kim Mo-mi became pretty, the "Mask Girl" story was basically over.

I'm so sick of how some comments here are sooo misogynistic and offensive to feminism like yeah this article is…
I totally agree with you. Thank you so much for writing the truth. Feminism is very important to my identity. Being able to call everything I don't like misogynistic makes me feel superior. Everybody who disagrees with me is offensive to feminism (feminism cares a lot about comments on the internet because feminism is a person with feelings and always offended!!!!!) and misogynistic. We need more brave comments like yours, so we can feel even more special. Thank you!!!! šŸ‘šŸ‘šŸ‘

Woah, this movie was so fucked up. I wished I could claim that this didn't and does not happen in real life. One of the few stories that really made me angry but not in an entertaining way. It was also very graphical. As an avid thriller reader/watcher, I usually don't mind violence in dramas, not even if children get beaten up (it's fiction after all and the child actors are usually not that talented, so those scenes usually look artificial), but this drama shocked me as it felt "too realistic". The scenes were so brutal, and all actors, including the children, were so skilled.

This movie is a masterpiece but I don't want to watch it ever again.

How can a detective be so stupid? who means random people in the woods ? smh
I know quite a few women who would do that until they get assaulted. It's usually the ones who claim it were victim blaming if people recommend not to meet strangers in deserted places. However, these women usually don't make the same mistake twice after having been assaulted. Unlike that police woman who went on to meet the guy again in some deserted place, survived the encounter a second time by chance but still didn't start a proper investigation. Nobody ever questioned her competence in the drama.

A surprisingly good drama with good storytelling and interesting characters. Just the stupidity of the police woman annoyed me. Being stupid once is okay for me but making the same mistake twice??????

I'm surprised by the people who complain about the sex scenes when the drama is tagged with "extreme sexual content". Personally, I didn't find it "extreme" just "surprisingly explicite compared to other dramas". It was no porn, though. Also, the sex scenes make sense because the app is an app where people look for sexual encounters, not for romcom-like love.

The teaser text on this website is fairly misleading because it makes the drama look as if the serial killer were unknown. However, the ML does not hide anything for the viewer. We know the entire time what he does. This drama is about an autistic woman who falls in love with a serial killer, not about criminal investigations.

I hear this series is about the sex karaoke bars they have in Korea. I literally just learnt today that Korea…
1) There is no rise of cheating. Men and women have cheated on each other for millenia. That's common knowledge among people who had at least a moderate education.

2) Men sell their bodies too. That's not just common knowledge but also part of this drama.

3) Prostitution and drugs are illegal in many countries. Nevertheless, there isn't any country on this planet where prostitution and drugs do not exist. A quick research on the internet, which took me about 5 seconds (including switching the tab), gave me the name "Mia-ri". In Korean crime/action dramas, these things are almost always part of the story.

4) If want to see the ugly side of Korea anyway, you could watch Korean crime/action dramas. These things are almost always huge topics in those dramas, especially in the action genre.

They didn't _make_ FL the worst looking. The actress looks like that. Maybe the Korean government once again sponsored…
I accept your apology, and I want to make clear: My previous comment referred to the "low opinion part" only, not to your arguments.

What you wrote in your other comment sounded to me as if you actually agreed with what you quoted but you didn't seem to realise it.

I agree with you in regards to the story which is about strict beauty standards and how it affects basically everybody. This wasn't the topic of my first comment in this thread, though. We shared our opinions about the casting only and complained because an actually beautiful actress would have been better to convey the message of this drama.

Yeah, the FL actress is not suitable for this role. She plays both the female and the male part exactly the same:…
Well, I've just completed this drama, and I see the positive aspect: That Mary Sue character suited her limited acting skills. It would have been a great disappointment for me if she had ruined a good character.
