I’m not 100% sure but someone below in the comment said that the same person who wrote the novel wrote the script…
Yes. It wasn't at its best production, and it could've been better and all. But maybe because of limited resources and given rights, the whole drama suffered.
As i remembered too, it was something of a 40 eps or 36 at first, but reduced to 32.
There were choppy editing and scenes, but that's it. The drama's done. Nothing we can do... And what it left to me was the feeling of being betrayed as one of the novel's fans. 😅

Yep. I totally understand. I'm also a writer myself. And it's a hard decision for writers also if given the chance to adapt their works for the screen. It's an honor and they would even gain more recognition, but their crafts could get highly altered because of other people who would be involved. 😩It really varies with the contract offered. It's also a gamble.
Maybe it wasn't exactly how the writer wanted it in the drama because i've read in some comments or articles that the production was also having problems. And had been reduced to 32 episodes.
We don't really know...

This is correct in the novel.

Yes. That's one of the downsides if the writers sell their work to companies. That company also has the right to change things in the adaptation, as that would be mentioned in the contract. It won't be the same as the original most of the time. That's also why there are some writers that don't want their creations to be adapted into anything despite being a hit because of the high chance that it would lose its essence. Though it varies in contracts, it really is what is most likely to happen in their work.

The writer was one of the screenwriters. I don't know exactly what's the deal. But i think because even if she did the original work, she had also given rights to the company that adapted it. She no longer has the full authority. It could be part of the contract. It depends.

Ugh... Really... This should have been "Inspired by the novel", not "Adapted from the novel". Most things are opposite.
But anyway, this is still a good watch, y'all.
Nowadays you won't easily find an ML who is not a love slave for the FL. No. This drama's ML knew his priorities despite being in love. He really embodies his responsibilities as the emperor, even being overruled by his own officials. And though FL was infuriating at times for being impulsive, she's still a force. And i can't deny how determined she was. She knew what she wanted and stood by it.
Many people are disappointed with the ending, and i admit i'm one of them (because i have read the novel and can't get over how contrasting it was from the source. But if i didn't read it, the ending would be okay enough for me.) Then, there are people who were satisfied with the ending.

I just like to say, please, give this drama a chance and let yourself be the judge regarding everything. Thank you.

I think it was 100 percent an HE for main leads though so will say left open to interpretation. Here is why. Ying…
Yes. They are emperor and empress in the novel. Husband and wife ruling the empire. And their daughter is the heir to the throne since she's the firstborn child.

OH WEM GEEEE!!! This is really gonna happen??? I had read the webtoon and it's so awesome. Can't wait for this! Just not sure of the cast... I like the ML but... Hmm... For Iseop's role... I'm having some doubt... Not for the acting, but I think it's more of his vibe, of the appeal...
But i'll just see until the drama comes out.

How much it differ from novel? Just curious, it's only about the ending or start from beginning? I only watch…
Sure. No problem.

It's actually more like an open ending going to a happy ending. Could be considered open, but in conclusion, a happy ending still. For drama viewers only.
I don't know how to compare it with Overdo. I didn't watch it.

For me... compared to the novel... yeah. Big time.
But if just from the drama alone... It's so so... Okay, like, fine, whatever. 😁

I think like, the First Jasmine. The characters have the same names but lost the novel's essence, even the character dynamics. Start to ending is different. There are still the same plots from the novel of course, but it kind of all got thrown in into the pot and mixed together with everything. Though the first half of the drama wasn't really messy.. But as someone who had read the novel, it just doesn't sit right.
So yeah... I don't even want to think it's an adaptation. More like just inspired by the novel at least. Really a wasted potential to be one of the great dramas out there...

Sadly common. Like The First Jasmine is nothing remotely close to the novel.
It really made me think that if I had already read the novel, then I wouldn't watch its drama. 😅 At least then, i won't feel betrayed.
But then, i'm still giving the future adaptations the benefit of a doubt.

so basically the fl goes with her people who are rebelling for their nation and justice for their royal family,…
In the novel it was what happened in the past when the leads' parents were still alive. The FL was still a baby and the ML was a child.
