I love the emperor's black outfit with gold underneath. He really looked exceptional and elegant even in ordinary clothes. His royalty bearing still shines through.

We can only hope. And i can only keep reading the novel again and imagine the actors acting the scenes. At least for now.

You really need to read it to understand everything. It was a MASSIVE misunderstanding for almost everything in the plot. Court politics involved.

Okay. As i'm saying, i can't remember much for i had read the novel a loooong time ago. To figure things out, just read it all the way before coming to any conclusion without knowing the entire story.
Though, some characters aren't really likeable. But that's just it. No one is perfect, not even the protagonists.

It doesn't actually take that long. It's in early episodes.

Oh, i'd take a look in that chapter again right now and i also thought that way back then. It was cruel, but as i continued to read, i found that there was an actual reason for that. Though i forgot.

I actually prefer the original title: The Kingdom/Empire as a betrothal gift.
But it's a total giveaway for the entire story. 😉

Ahh.. There they are... Battle of wits, guts, and schemes all around the leads and villains. It's much more intense than actual bloodshed. Words could also cut like a blade.

This would remain my most anticipated drama until it finally airs. 😩
I really want to see the leads' dynamics. They were really a great tandem in the novel. And as the novel described them having pleasant appearances, the casts were on point about it also. Especially Li Wanda/Vanda Margraf. Even the author's description in the novel about her appearance really fits the actress. Then add to that Deng Wei's face and stature... Ugh... They were just perfect.
I really wanted to see them on the screen acting out the scenes. The steamy ones, the scheming ones, even the comedic vibes.

The novel is great. Had read it a long time ago. I really wish for the drama to be released already. I'm eagerly waiting for it.

yep. This is something of a breather after all that tension. I really like how they made this drama so far. That they didn't just give us what was happening up front but also behind the characters' individuality when they weren't on duty and in uniform.

It was like the structure of a novel. If everything were tension, action and relentless moving, readers might feel numb and get lost at times. So i really appreciate moments and scenes like this.
And them choosing to do it in the drama as well made me realize more that as much as possible, though they were just fictional characters, they still wanted to show us even a bit of realism, that the characters also had time to relax and wore down their guarded persona. Just like people in real life.

Kudos to the production for this.
