Sadly common. Like The First Jasmine is nothing remotely close to the novel.
Exactly... Why bother adapting it if they won't follow the essence of the story, and character dynamics... Of why, in the first place the novel was a hit for the readers that it was chosen to be adapted... And of course, readers would most likely watch it too for they liked the novel. But then, they decided to go off tracks. They should have just said, "inspired by the novel", not "adapted from the novel". I would have felt much better. 😩
Seriously, if only I hadn't read its novel, this drama could have been good on its own despite the ending. But then... Ugh... Just can't totally accept it. One of my fave novels butchered this way. The ending was a total opposite. They should have at least made it right. But nah... ROYAL BETRAYAL to the maxxxxxxxx.
Same here. But you know what I’m going to probably see how they adapted the Chasing Dreams next lol. I also…
I'm also deciding starting to read other novels, like, In the Moonlight or Reborn of the Rightful... Not sure yet.. I was also contemplating to read Xin Yanyan's other works.. The author of The Empire as Betrothal, but i think i'll delay it for now... 😅 the betrayal is still fresh. So i'll stick to other authors temporarily.

I think you would also love The Days of Seclusion and Love. You can imagine Deng Wei and Li Wanda acting the scenes. It's hilarious, romantic, and also full of schemes. The leads were equally smart. As for the Shadows of Desire, the book was a little draggy, and depressing. But the story is intriguing. The FL was quite obsessed with the ML. A General FL and Prime Minister ML.

Oh, for now i'm waiting for The Shadows of Desire. This is one novel where the FL was totally aggressive towards the ML... Literally aggressive. I think the drama can't deny that because it was the FL's core character trait in the novel. But then again.. i'll just see once the drama is out.

It also made me think that if i had already read its novel, then I wouldn't watch its drama adaptation... It's a total betrayal. 😩 But of course, i still want to check them somehow...
Anyway, i'm not really interested in Chasing Dreams. The drama i'm most anticipating is The Days of Seclusion and Love. But it had issues and don't know if it'll ever come out. It's one of my fave novels aside from The Empire as Betrothal.

Ugh,,, Bruh... Am really disappointed. If they'd only just stick close to the book somehow, even the ending, it could have been better. But.. Gahhh.. They also had to kill the characters that had happy endings in the novel... It also made me think that maybe they only thought that watchers want something too impactful to stir emotions like killing characters. But then, they also haven't thought that most dramas were already like that... Why can't they just stay off the tracks like in the novel where all the couples were happy. They don't have to be the same with other dramas.
Ying Gua and Ting Hui... 😅 It still made me think, though, that they knew it was wrong, yet they seemed ready to give in. It was like they would be making it as an excuse afterward if they really did something. Of course, they are sovereign and subject. And the fruit's effects were convenient for a way out. 😁
It’s not just this drama, so many dramas that gets adapted from the novel loses the very thing that kept readers…
Yeah.. I got ya. Though i've already expected changes into adapting it into a drama... but bruh... still.. Even their relationship dynamics here had changed.. They could tone it down, but not totally reverse it, or... i don't know...
They should have just said, "inspired by the novel", not "adapted from the novel".

And i hope you'll like it too. I really want to have someone to chat with regarding novels. 😁
