That hesitant curve at the side of his lips until it gradually lifts and turns into a smile. Then his face brightens up, making him look years younger. Along with his eyes that seemed to sparkle. Which felt like you never wanted to take what made him happy and just for that moment to freeze.
Okay. I'm melting.

Though i like their intense romance in the novel... But still, i could still feel the tension between them in the drama. And their vague relationship status still got me interested somehow.

I 100% stand by this. Their romance development and openness are one of the novel's greatest strengths, if not already, which made the book more distinct than the others.

Yep. As i've said, the drama is not all bad. It's actually good as it is. Just different kind of good. The novel was just on a different level.

But the drama is objectively good on its own. And it could have appeal more if it weren't based on a great novel already. 😁

Nah.. i don't really care much about other things, only the entire plot and how the story unfolds. And it's inevitable not to compare it to its novel because, really, the novel is great. Which i strongly believe that its drama adaptation might be one of the outstanding dramas, not entirely due to the political intrigue, but because of their romance. But yeah..

Let's just see how the drama wraps things up till the end.

It's getting really disappointing.. haha.. I believe readers truly liked the novel for what it is, but watching its drama... It's not that the drama is all bad... but as for me, who has read its original plot/novel, the drama doesn't live up to what the novel has. I think not even half of its potential.

Yep.. I can't even remember if that thing really happened. Because.. if we just follow the Meng TingHui's character from the book, she would rather stab herself than hurt her beloved emperor in any way. She's actually a silent simp for him there.

yeah... and it's getting frustrating now... we're already halfway through the drama and yet... the romance part ain't really giving. It's nothing like the novel. And i strongly believe it's one of the book's highlights. It's what made it somehow more unique than most stories. It's also quite balanced with the political issues.
So... yeah... as i said before, i think they made everything more dramatic, except for the romance plot. When the novel isn't that harsh to the other characters.

Ugh.. But i'll still try to see things through the end of the drama.. I'll pick this up again when it's finished. I'll put it on hold for now.

(Sigh) All the while... What i had been waiting for was just one thing for their romance to finally move forward... That one kiss TingHui did in the novel that shocked YingGua and even the readers all of a sudden. Just that one scene from the novel and i'll be finally satisfied somehow. It's one of the most memorable scenes that also solidifies their romance. At least then they did something exactly from the book. Just from that character of hers, she was also trying to make him feel and see that she had him in her heart without caring if he saw her the same way. She was openly devoted to him.

As from the novel, she fell first, fell harder, until then YingGua gave in and it was all grenade between them.. 🤣(Though i didn't remember it correctly for i read the novel a long time ago. But maybe what i remember was close to it.)
oh well.. one can only hope that something like this could be shown in the drama as well, even just a fraction of how they are in their romance department.

Somehow they made everything more dramatic, well of course because it's a drama. Except for the romance part, which clearly they lessened and all. It's understandable though for how fiery they could get when being alone 😉, even without really confirming what relationship they have.
But clearly, it wouldn't hurt giving us something how they were from the novel. Even just a teeny, tiny tease of their shamelessness.

Anyway... I still like the drama, even despite anything, though i love the novel so much more. Because honestly, the novel has that uniqueness (especially in the romance plot, because i believe the characters and how they were written are what made the story somehow refreshing to read) that the drama isn't entirely giving yet so far...
And for the whole plot, they all blended it in the drama, mixed in together that everything seems to be happening at once.
There are still a few episodes left, i'll just take what they can give then.
This is all just my opinion.

I was also really envisioning when they decided to put this into drama adaptation that this would somehow be different from the other dramas because of what the novel has to offer. I strongly believe that this would stand out because of the different approach, especially in the romance part. Though the political issues were still something, they kept it intriguing enough.

I really want to fully like the entire drama, but honestly, I agree with the things you pointed out. As i had also read the novel long before, one of the things i really liked about it was that she fell first and it was obvious early in the story. The FL made it pretty obvious. It's what also made the novel a bit different among the others. She fell first, she fell harder until the emperor gave in, then both became mostly equal and devoted till the very end and succeeded in their relationship... How their romance developed was really one of the greatest things in the novel.

But of course, this is now a drama.. they made everything more dramatic, except for the romance.. 😅 Oh well, but we already know why they can't just follow the romance plot of the novel 😉 (novel readers know what i mean.) Still though.. even just a fraction of it surely wouldn't hurt.. We still have half of the episodes left... Still hoping. 😁

It would be revealed in the near the end. It was the last main arc. It was also the most highlight in the novel. But it doesn't feel rushed at all.
So i'm also excited how they would do it in the drama..

One of the screenwriters of the drama is the original author herself. So i think she was closely monitoring it to stick close to what her novel/ideas are trying to deliver.

I've watched his clip in Hello Saturday with Nazha. Though it was very short... but they have chemistry.. And it's oozing...
