When I read people's comments like....."I just didn't feel the same chemistry between X and Y that I felt from the others...." my response is......."Why would you?"
When you have multiple couples in a series, it makes no sense for viewers to expect them to all be the same.
They're all different people, and the development of their respective relationships is different. Their backgrounds and family histories, their past relationships with other partners (good and bad), their personalities, their tempers, their physical attraction to each other, the speed (fast or slow) of their relationship, their interests, their goals, etc all contribute to their special couple dynamics.
I enjoyed every one of these couples because each one was unique. Some stories were faster paced, and some were slower. But each couple was interesting in their own ways.
The special episode was good, and it tied things up nicely. I'll miss this series.
i don't understand why people rate thing before they end, how can you judge something from just 3 episodes? unless…
Don't forget, the overall rating is also influenced by people rating each individual episode. There's no reason for them to wait til the end to do that.
I'm not sure how the individual ratings would influence the score, as opposed to overall rating more people are used to submitting.
It is very difficult to watch the male lead (the groom) acting like a soppy, WIMPY AF damsel in distress. And he moves / runs like a palace eunuch from some historical Chinese drama.
Such a turnoff, especially when it comes to even IMAGINING any kind of NC scene in a modern context.
is it good. im not gonna read the spoiler but is it OMG or is it OMG?
The series is good.
EDIT: FROM WHAT OTHERS HAVE SAID - I have not read the original novel, myself - the series successfully portrays a story within a story.
It shows the characters (their characters are actors) living in a blurred existence, where they start to have trouble distinguishing between what's real, what's just acting (in the drama they're acting in), who they are (are they themselves? are they their characters?), whether the conversations are real or lines from their drama, whether their feelings are just what their characters are supposed to be feeling, or real......etc.
The NC scenes are disturbing and erotic. In this series, that kind of atmosphere perfectly fits.
Xiao Deng, the "friend" Danyi sent to be Zhang Zhun's "assistant" is the exact kind off bumbling, clueless, fawning character I cannot STAND. The second he walked into the room, I was pissed.
Lots of comments on finale episode so I’ll offer my conclusion as well:- Xu Yuan went there to wish, not to…
"Xu Yuan had a sweet closure with his mom and so did Wang with his dad."
I don't consider what happened at the end with Wang and his dad as closure.
The dad beat both sons severely. Made the older one deaf in one ear, and left dark whip mark scars all over the back and arm of the younger one. And treated both like absolute shit.
The father's OWN gay relationship of his youth was discovered through an old photograph and revealed at the last second. At that point, the father MIRACULOUSLY became kind toward his sons - or at least Wang - and admitted that he pushed his fears onto them.
But he did not genuinely apologize, and did not genuinely take responsible for the extreme, BRUTAL violence toward his sons.
The ONLY reason he became the slightest bit contrite is because his own secret was discovered. Otherwise he wouldn't have stopped his hatred and cruelty toward his children.
He did not deserve a last minute redemption.
And no one should expect his victims to "understand where their dad was coming from and forgive him" as he was beating them, or for years afterward as they lived with the damage to their bodies and mental health.
I'm still thinking about the age gap between Bianye and Zhanxu... Bianye is still 19 years old and Zhanxu is?…
No idea what the age gap is, but I can't believe Zhan Xu got to keep his medical license after it was made public that he was having a relationship with a high school student.

I really hope he grows a backbone at some point.

And I love Jay's uncle, lol.
We still have TEN episodes to go!!
The first two were so intense.....if this keeps up I'm not sure I'll survive. LOL

I love the old-world spelling, Vampyr, and the return to horror as opposed to an action movie. Hope this movie is completed and released.
And Yoo Ah In is a great actor. I'm looking forward to this.
It's INCREDIBLY fucked up and infuriating. And confusing as hell at the very end.
I'm pissed off and so disappointed.
