I think everyone is so involved in commenting on Why Her because of the fantastic cast and the potential of this series. Watching FL endure so much relentless shit is really hard, it's not entertainment it's an endurance test, I don't think in RL anyone could survive all that crap. But this is a fictional series and as such you are right we don't want to see 15 eps of sociopathic bastards and rapist sons carry on in self righteous back slapping. Gong Chan looks like a floundering teenager, against this powerful evil mafia, and THAT'S her support for gods sake, as well as the the happy little rookie lawyer team.

Yes agree if you compare this to Hyena where FL was a major badass force with a lot of trauma and and crap to deal with the ML who is well cast and an equal force (unlike the floundering boyish Gong Chan) kind of follows her lead, and they support each other. It feels right, and the genre and theme doesn't zig zag like some bipolar narrative that doesn't know what it is. Also I think the actors in Why Her are doing their best, I love SHJ but she looks so thin and fragile, which doesn't meld with her strong persona. The final eps are out of nowhere SOOOOOO over the top intense, hard to watch. Given that this is a drama for entertainment not a documentary on RL trauma, the ending should be a calming down resolution kind of thing IMO.

I am just loving this drama. Great acting, PEB is just phenomenal, as are all the rest of the cast. The story is gripping, each court case is fascinating. Personally I find the father character a bit of an oaf, I wish he could be a bit more tactful, although we know he has cared for WYW so well. I love the fact that the issues played out such as being on the autism spectrum are done in a way where WYW is still strong and a fighter despite what she confronts. It is not dripping with sentimentality, and her confrontations are not horrendous but realistic. The people around her are amazing, except for KMW of course. I just love Kang Ki Young as an actor, he's so funny and understated, and intelligent. He's just the most adorable character in this show for me.

Yes you're right! Somehow I'm still hooked in, but what a waste of amazing talent. SHJ is such a fantastic actress, and HIY is good too. They both seem so self conscious and awkward, stiff and not inhabiting the role. I also can't feel their relationship properly, it's more an affectionate mentor/student vibe. However it's not bad enough to drop, I still want to know how it all pans out.

Yes, I think you have to stay true to a theme. The initial theme in this is an amazingly compatible, in love, flirty, happy, calm couple. The nature of this kind of Kdrama is escapism, which the audience was primed for. You can't then switch over to mundane old every day life thing and expect viewers to be happy. And then shove in "to much information" at the end, oh well I still enjoyed it, I really love all the leads.

I really like YKS and SJH, and KJS in fact the whole cast. Really loved the first 6 eps, so fast paced, incredible chemistry between ML and FL, great plot, lovely cinematography, loved their wardrobe, nice OST, with some magical elements. But what happened, all childhood trauma got squashed into final eps. with frankly boring predictable tropes, and the main couple's awful toxic bickering in last eps just seems like another story. The expected premise of this story is this lovely, mature couple who are happy, connected and very attracted to each other, overcome trauma to be together. The idea that a "real" relationship ends like this is just silly, did they change writers mid way?? How can something that started so brilliantly end in such a chaotic mess. It's a fantasy drama after all...fantasy romance...not an attempt at real life true grit. I FF's the last eps.

Yes he's great, and very handsome. I'm not sure what all these comments are about, Johnny Depp is 58, and has a massively young fan base.

I am really enjoying this show. Love both leads. the whole cast is great. I just saw Yoon Kye Sang in Spiritwalker. Apparently he is great in fast action movies, the fight scenes were really well done. He was amazing, what a versatile actor. I also really liked Kim Ji Suk in Another Ms Oh, he was hysterically funny and eccentric, and a great dancer. I think he's great in this, just not such an adorable character. Thus far very entertaining.

Yes they are total soul mates, and understand each other like no one else. That means everything to them. And if they weren't so absolutely gorgeous both of them our response would be totally different. That is true of all cinema I think and that's our fantasy escapism.

A potentially interesting idea, but this is FF material, as you outlined, I seriously don't get what an actor of LJW calibre is doing in here (Bulgasal, High Society etc). Even if he wanted to do a lighter comedy, he could have chosen something well crafted, interesting and fresh.

I think the sadness and disconnect stems from the way the family members are so remote and unsupportive of each other. Imo it's mainly the father who is a closed up, inarticulate guy who can never show warmth or kindness to his family which he comes to realise in later eps. What the siblings go through is not awful trauma etc like in My Mister, but in their own way they were truly lonely and struggling to find a way in life. The way the mother was treated was seriously awful, she was so lonely and ignored that she virtually passed away from sadness. I think this was so well highlighted when the family next door all took selfies, having fun in their field, saying their crop was so much better than next door. Just a metaphor.
