There are cosmetic procedures go do so like laser therapy or chemical peel. Quite popular in South Korea. It also can be due to make-up, camera filter or lighting.

Goddamn it. This drama really would be much better if there wasn't love triangle.
At least 2ML shouldn't be in love with FL and it would cut most of the frustration in this show.
Sure, 2ML can be kind to FL, but it would be much better for the plot to just agree to the fake marriage, because of feeling indebted and him going for 2FL.
It's so frustrating.

I generally enjoy this drama, but can someone explain to me what is character arc for 1FL and 2FL?
For both male leads it seems to be accepting their feelings of love.
Ji Hyeok is accepting how he feels about Da Rim - from "dynamite" love, through frustration to getting softer and accepting his feelings towards Da Rim.
2ML - him slowly realizing his feelings for Da Rim and understanding them through Ha Young.
But both FLs seem to not really have one?
Da Rim is getting better at her job through determination, but I don't really see character growth.
Ha Young on the other hand is inconsistent. First two episodes she goes for Ji Hyeok... until she's not. Maybe her realizing what she really wants from partner? But it feels like she just snapped and that's it.
Am I missing something?

*sigh*Ever since Typhoon Family started, I jumped at the new episode of it before watching this shows new episode…
You are not the only one and I think the problem is execution and directing.
In episode 10 the male lead comes clean with female lead and the scene is just bad. It hit me right then what the issue is.
Some aspects are flawed and done in somewhat unimaginative ways. This drama doesn't really have much depth and doesn't focus on drug business as much as I though it would.
Character progression is rudimentary and unsatisfying.
The reason is that director or writer has basic idea on what he wants to do, but doesn't really know how to show it in satisfying way. A lot of scenes are truly saved by good acting which solves the issue on surface level, but leave bad aftertaste. A LOT of events could be done in better fashion with more lead up and it is truly a shame that such interesting premise got done dirty.

I'm not generally someone who enjoys romantic comedies, but this one feels more like light-hearted drama more than comedy. It's hard to satisfy me with common comedy gags so this one feels kinda refreshing.
Few years ago was this makjang drama called The Real Has Come. It has simillar vibe to first half that I enjoyed quite a bit (later it fell off pretty badly). Both are not really serious, but they know what they are and are fun to watch because of that.

I love it so much but dislike the childhood connection. I wish he fell in love before finding out about her. Now…
I agree, but I think there is more to it. The photo from mother's wallet had two girls in it. We don't really know if Me Ri is actually the childhood friend so I'll give it a pass for now.

this kdrama is criminally underrated, 😭it is so fun to watch, each episode is interesting and entertaining,…
I watch it because there is nothing better really airing and I needed some background noise. First few episode were just ok when I binged them, but now that I don't have much drive to watch it weekly.
For some it might be entertaining, but I don't find it particularly good.
As much as acting and relationships between characters are good, the cases and characters are so cartoonish that they can turn off some people.
The overarching story about kidnapping was what hooked me somewhat, but the longer I watch it the less I find it engaging, especially when it is so fragmented.
Overall this series is slop that looks pretty, but has no real substance.

I'd love to know what non-webtoon readers feel about this show.
Judging it as independent piece of media it is still solid. Not as good as first season, but I still binged and enjoyed it. I knew it would be completly different vibe and I am pleased what they did even though I think it could be done better (like adding more backstories for Si-eun's new friends).
So overall I don't think it is terrible, just not as good as first season, but I expected it.
I am reader, but I have different opinion about this season than the rest.
First season adaptated best arc in whole manhwa in my opinion, but it was placed somewhere in the middle of the series.
They skipped some really good stories and loosely adaptated the main plot, completly cutting out my favourite character - Gerald (they gave his skills to Hyeon Tak, but nothing more).
The manhwa had some pretty goofy aspects about itself like fighter rankings, almost supernatural skills and unrealistic depictions of fighting that are impossible to adaptate into TV series. I'm glad that they didn't lean into it.
But because of all that I wished that they would change some stuff and made second season tighter than manhwa. They kind of overdid it and all characters are not as fleshed out as they could be.

Title When the Phone Rings Spoiler
So the kidnapper hasn't thought of going back to her home to get back his seemingly expensive and very well-programmed…
I have some theories simmilar to sachapz in comment above when it comes to interactions between ML and FL, but the 10 minutes limit is bullsh*t. It's plot device more or less. This is not how VPNs work. If it's some kind of darkweb off-the-grid VPN then it is almost imposible to track. If it is commercial VPN then request to operator would be enough, time comsuming but possible. Normally without VPN you don't need any time (like at least one minute call) to track cell tower that is connected to the device. It is almost instant.
It is what it is, but I still enjoyed those two episodes.
When it comes to voice modulator - they said it was "salted"/encypted. I mean yes, but simpler explanation would be AI voice changer.
Funnly enough, I just am surprised that ML didn't recognize that kidnapper was stuttering in first calls and did not during the party. For a second I thought there are at least two people involved, but we saw what happened later.

Does this get better? I've only watched ep 1 and 2 but I kinda hate both leads and the tone of the show. Bitna…
It is tonaly inconsistent, but I got used to it. I also have distaste for Park Shin Hye, but I decided to try it and I am surprised, she is quite good. My problem is music choice and camera work and editing in many cases. The show could be a lot better if they removed music from some scenes, made the punishment scenes more horror-like/claustrophobic.
Justitia's character is for me is enjoyable if you think of her as an antihero. Daon is just policeman with trauma, even last episode made him just switch, not gradually grow. In 5 minutes he changed his whole attitude. Yes, he had his reason, but it felt unnatural and I blame scenario.
I'd say if you look for serious and very well-writen show, that's not it. It is enjoyable but it's not something that I will remember for long time.

yeah I really don't know why she covered it up either.. she could have exposed the criminal/murderer and saved…
I understand that she stayed quiet, because she wanted to "break Jeong Woo" by putting him through some jail time but it escalated and he got sentenced to prison.
My problem is how fast she thought about the plan and how to threaten 3 guys. I might be missing something, but Na Gyeom wasn't really a part of the group and she didn't have any sympathy for Bo Young. Or she always was this sociopathic.
I don't know, I need more clues.

I was slightly disappointed in 10th episode, but 11th... GOD DAMN.
I really like around 95% of the show, but I still cannot understand why Na Gyeom thought so fast about covering Bo Young's death instead of calling the cops. I need and answer.

It's listed as 14 not 16 episode drama. We have 5 more to go. It might be quite tight drama, but now pacing seems perfect. There is case of revealing SBY' whole situation and how it ties to PDE's death.

Wait, what the f... Have you watched last episode? I only speculated before, but now it's clear that she is not in love, she is obsessed. At this point she probably is the root of why GJW got imprisoned in first place.

Honestly, the chemistry between the leads has suffered enough and is not going to recover from the viewers' perspective.…
I think this show is mid as hell and it drags quite a bit. I don't really want to talk much why it is like that, because I could write every issue, but it would take 5 pages in MS Word. There is not a lot of good things either.
But your last point. I partly agree and partly disagree. If you are into romcoms - generally yes. There wasn't a lot of great ones, but there are some good, but only if you slightly turn off your brain and try to enjoy them. In this show it doesn't work for me, so I cannot like it.
However, if you enjoy any genre then MDL is the worst place to find them. People here vote with their emotions and not objectively rate the shows based on writing, cinematography and so on. Right now I watch Black Out and honestly could call this show the best of the year(at least for now), but MDL rating doesn't say it. A lot of decent shows get buried by fangirls or just don't get enough attention, a lot of hyped shows are just mid with great actors that have strong fanbase.
Also there is case of lack of innovation and overall "expirience" of a person watching. At some point you just develop better understanding of writing principles and you more often notice mediocrity of the show when you already seen better ones. You become much more peaky... or the opposite - you watch for guilty pleasure.

How about 2 guy friend of ML? Do the others find out what they did?
This was only my theory. I don't claim to know what is going to happen. I might be wrong. When it comes to the village, I think that the chief will try to screw them all and in the end the rapist friends will go to jail. I generally think this will be decent ending for the Joeng-u, but not sure about the others.
Also Na-gyeom is probably going to tell Bo-young's parents about those two bastards so the rift is already set up.

Title Black Out Spoiler
So... I feel like 8th episode was somewhat dragy, but ended strongly. They really messed up with this one scene somewhere in the begging of the show that looked like Bo-young was killed by accident. I don't know who acctualy killed her, but it feels like Goun-oh did it and out of guild killed himself.
Now, Da-eun. I'm pretty sure the congresswoman or her husband is the killer. Either he killed Da-eun, because they slept together and she wanted out. She threatened him (maybe demanded money) in exchange for not telling his wife. Other theory is that the congresswoman knew about affair, wanted Da-eun out, DE threatened her and congresswoman killed her.
The only thing that bothers me is Na-gyeom. I don't really know if she is another useless character or she is somewhat involved. From 7th episode I have a feeling that she is more psychotic than I thought before and either she knows what has happened and stayed quiet, because of her obsession about Jeong-u or actually she killed Da-eum out of jealousy. The second is less probable, because there is no way she was able to drag a body.
Either way I really enjoy this show. There wasn't any good thriller recently so it is nice to see some good writing.

I thought the same but maybe she thinks she’d have them be angry with her instead of pitying her
I don't know how it's gonna be played out, but my feeling is - FL has issue of avoiding problems. It is clearly seen in first episode. I bet she didn't confront the the issue with the fiance (from flashback it looks clear, but kdramas got me used to "the unreliable camera shot"). It's too soon to judge, but I can see where the whole show is going.
