Once again I ask, will there ever be justice for Lee Long Shi? His whole career has me convinced he's somehow…
At this point it’s either his agency or him. Common denominator. Honestly? I loved Love Syndrome III (I don’t know why. Seriously. I couldn’t tell you even if a gun was to my head. But I’ve rewatched that toxic story with characters whose flags are as green as Death Valley). But every series he’s in is a nope. Like, how can he be this unlucky? Maybe this is the extent of his talent? I don’t know. I haven’t seen him in a role that gives me goosebumps with his skills, you know? But I also haven’t seen everything he’s done.
😭well damn I knew that everyone was complaining about the really long stares here but I didn't expect them…
Yup. 3 10-second skips long on average. I know because I keep skipping and they keep staring. 😂 Ong I feel like they forget their lines and have an earpiece where someone feeds it to them. Like the director told them that if they don’t know what to do, just stare longingly at the other person until you figure it out and the director would “work” with it.
My main beef is the depth thing. I mean, what the heck is even going on with the two main characters? How can…
And by a teaser for episode 5 I saw, they’re throwing a mid-accusation of rape in the mix between the MCs by the grudge-holding brother of Mild (bro was the one in the wrong and should let it go already-someone needs to slap him for me). 😮💨 I really do wonder what other clichés they’ll throw at us.
This is what they should be giving us in 2018 not 2025. Can we please graduate from university BLs or even better…
It’s like Thailand only has Engineering and Med programs at their universities. No one does anything else? Oh! I forgot Art. I’m trying to remember a Thai BL set in university that wasn’t one of these. Like, why is this their go-to? Because of SOTUS? Maybe it’s because they produce so many BLs, they can’t think of anything else?
I have a feeling I’ll be dropping this very soon. Oh well. At least there’s JimmySea and KengNamping to keep me with my foot in Thai BLs (hopefully I will add Revamp to this list).
Imagine misunderstandings being cleared up by clear and expedient communication. Revolutionary 😂 Tuo doesn’t…
I’ve only gotten to through Ep2. It seems from reels I’ve seen that it’s bromancey but platonically…kinda? In the way you’d expect from a straight drama not trying to show same sex romance, you know? I could be wrong. They’re awkward, but significantly less awkward than Stay By My Side After the Rain’s 8th episode, you know? And not the wrong kind of awkward.
The comments complaining about the NC and kisses are cracking me up 🤣We are so spoiled right now, it's okay…
The miss was like they didn’t even try to hit. Now the awkward caution they displayed up to now feels different. It doesn’t feel romantic at all. The overall message of the story is a valid one, but the tone has changed- at least for me.
ep 8. ruined the series. the NC scene was so bad it literally took my focus off any type of long term possible…
Like used dishwater thrown over my head. I was definitely not expecting that. Why even bother giving an NC scene if this is what they give? It gives ultra conservative straight virgins forced to kiss. The awkwardness was painful in a bad way. The scene after the “deed” 1000% unbelievable.
What’s with the overwhelming awkwardness through the NC scene (if you can even call it that)? It felt like both actors (and the director) definitely did NOT want to convey any type of romantic passion that goes with a couple deeply in love (or even like). At the end of it, I thought they were just getting started, but they were… finished? The way I sighed at my phone. The right kind of tension that we had earlier in the series was definitely missing. Like this was the first scene they filmed together and wanted to get it over with.
Our guy Kosuke has a lot he’s been “holding back.” Shouldn’t they be a little sweaty and breathing heavy? The bedding isn’t even rumpled. 😂So much for a wild Kosuke we were made to believe existed. I wasn’t really expecting My Personal Weatherman, but even the very clean JBLs have more passion and less awkwardness from the MLs. I’m thinking about Mr. Lucky Has No Choice But To Kiss and Takara-kun & Amagi-kun.
I don’t know how I feel about this after Ep8. The romance is like watching two straight guys who just met and are also virgins being directed by an equally straight, conservative virgin male. While it’s beautiful that they are opening up to each other and growing as a couple (slowly), the tension comes across as awkwardness- not the good kind. Maybe they fix it in the 4 episodes remaining? sigh. I know some of y’all get me.

To be honest, Khemjira has some moments I had to 10-second skip through as I'm not a fan of scary movies (life is scary enough, thanks!) Nope. I don't like surprises.
So true! Weekends for Thai BLs are where it's at, really. I'm already missing Reset.

Unnecessarily long misunderstandings are annoying. I bet it lasts most of the series, too. I mean, open your mouths and SPEAK! Problem solved. 😮💨
The 3rd couple - his girlfriend is toxic af and I disliked her immediately. Why are the girlfriends usually so toxic in Thai BLs? 😮💨 I have been skipping through Doctor's Mine quite a bit, unfortunately. It's sad because the actor who plays Mild (Arm) is super cute, but I also don't think he and Long have enough chemistry. Maybe it's just me- I don't get butterflies, elephants, eels, or even mild static electricity watching them together. Oh well. There's Khemjira (I'm in love with KengNamping since DMD Friendship 1- their chemistry was solid from Day 1. I honestly felt like it was their dating show and not a partner match show. Both them and Thomas and Kong) and My Magic Prophecy (Jimmy and Sea never disappoint) to make up for it.
i really like how you're interpreting the fact that there was no kissing scenes between CC & WW as a way for…
Exactly. And censorship can't be an issue when ChengYu and Shuai were ramping up their romance with kisses and more while Chi Cheng and SuoWei were showing their intimacy without kisses. That would make no sense. Censorship also didn't stop the earlier episodes. This was released on a platform the Chinese government can't touch. So using censorship as a reason has no true basis other than dissatisfaction of the same explosive kissing scenes in the earlier episodes.
Would I personally have enjoyed more kissing later on? Sure. But the intimacy I was after was shown in other ways. Hugs and cuddles, loving gazes, doing things for the other just because you don't want them to experience a minor inconvenience (without really thinking about it). The intimacy is at a deeper level. I get the progression of intimacy and character/couple growth the director was going for - for both couples. I also noticed that Chi Cheng's jealousy over SuoWei and Shuai's friendship and time together settled quite a bit after they made up. That's significant. It shows his trust in SuoWei is absolute.

IKR?! He was in Dead Friends Forever, too. Don’t know if you saw it. It’s a horror/thriller type BL. Graphic on the horror side but actually really good. I slept on it until this summer and finally watched in between RL episode releases. He’s such a good actor. So talented. GMM better do him right. I also still hope his drama with Jeff (the one Jeff is producing) comes out. Happy Ending, I believe it’s called. I gave up on Wuju Bakery long ago.

Absolutely! I was on the fence about your #10 (I’ll give it a shot) and #2. I’m waiting for #7 and #9 to end to binge. I forgot that I’m also watching #11 <- It’s good. I don’t know how I forgot to add it. I am also watching (my list keeps getting longer- I had to put them all in my phone calendar to remember what airs when):
- The Nameless Season - My Girlfriend is the Man (not a BL but I’m enjoying it) - Kita-kun, Oir Shared Love (interesting concept and I love the actor playing Kita, he played Takara in Tamara’s Treasure- A gorgeous human being)
I’ll also be watching Soul Mate when it finally airs (I hope soon).
I’ll see you in the comment section of these dramas 😊 I will also probably revisit RL from time to time because addictions aren’t overcome in a day (not that I want to overcome mine 😉).
