Is it just me, or does it feel like Korea has become complacent in storytelling following the Kdrama craze? So much so that many faithful Kdrama fans (such as myself) have moved to Cdramas for their original storytelling and character/world building? After watching 300+ Kdramas, I’m now firmly on the Cdrama side, though I step back over to promising Kdramas following craftily worded synopses and well-edited trailers, only to leave again, disappointed. I can barely get through one episode, as in this show’s case. What I loved about Kdramas was that they weren’t Western-facing in any way, shape, or form. Now? It appears as if the storylines are catering towards Western audiences and, as a result, the things that made Kdramas so good are that much more difficult to find. I left WDramas for a reason. Where are the “Business Proposal”s and “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim”s? Where are “The Devil Judge”s and “Vigilante”s?

Thank you for this review. I will save myself the trouble and won’t bother watching. SEEKMedia’s productions have generally not been worth the watch imo. They need MUCH better scriptwriters and editors.

The dragging for 10 episodes is disheartening to hear. I have been coasting through 8 episodes so far and just stopped by to record my count and came across your review. It almost makes me not want to watch because I absolutely was NOT looking for a bittersweet drama to watch after completing Guardians of the Dafeng. I wanted this sweet story to continue, coasting right up to the end...

Damn but this was a really good drama. It had all the feels. I appreciated that the comedy interwoven wasn't misplaced either. It was serious when it needed to be and offered relief when it didn't. I look forward to whenever S2 finally airs.

I just finished Guardians of the Dafeng and need this drama to air soon- even though I know China will take FOREVER to get it on screen... sigh

I’m loving their cute and flirtatious interactions. I’m not that interested in the mystery tbh though. RIP popcorn. Your sacrifice was not in vain. I did stop by here mostly to say the way they filmed the NC scene was really well done. It conveyed yearning and desire and a bit of that tenderness that Jin has for Podduang. Namna is gorgeous. Whomever cast him needs to give themselves all the high fives because jesus he’s fine.

I hope it’s more like Fake Fact Lips, because I don’t want to see them tiptoeing around each other and misunderstanding for 8 episodes- or for most of the episodes. The other guy DEFINITELY has his suspicions and I’m looking forward to how he helps these two along- because that’s what he’s gotta be there for.

Waiting a whole week to release the last episode is diabolical! I have been on hold for weeks waiting to binge the last 7 episodes, hoping they’d release the last 3 this weekend. Sadness.

No idea. My focus/preference is period-based wuxia and xianxia dramas, or just period-based. I rarely watch modern-based Chinese dramas. I doubt they’re all part of one big universe, though. Just an iQIYI compilation of a genre type maybe?
