We are off to a good start. I know I’m going to love this- slightly awkward lip moments aside (you can barely call them kisses), or even more obviously NO clothing undone but somehow managing to have done the deed in a couple of their intimate scenes- still easy to overlook because the story is engaging and the chemistry is THERE!
Just theorizing here, but I think all the good, warm memories Shen Mo has of his ex are actually Mingxuan. And Mingxuan is staying away because he’s struggling in this corner he’s put himself in with Shen Mo when he’s the one who remembers their relationship before whatever accident happened that erased their past love story. That’s why Shen Mo has these lingering hopes and more abstract “feelings” for his ex when he sees him again. I bet Mingxuan saved him from whatever happened to him and they grew close.
Just a theory. But here I am hoping I’m right. 🫰🏽Either way, this cold and aloof persona Mingxuan has adopted to protect himself, with these rare moments of vulnerability when his guard is down, while Shen Mo looks at him with those sad boba eyes🥺… who could resist?!

Perhaps the zombie extras are really good runners irl and going slow is difficult. (Not every extra is a good actor- so I take their roles with that in mind and their obvious noticing of the camera and crew. Many extras have zero acting experience.) My husband is like that when walking- I swear he thinks he’s running a race every time we walk somewhere… They need to get naturally slow aka lazy people like me to work as zombie extras. Though I too would probably look at the camera at least a few times…Human nature and all.
Yes, the kiss-masquerading-as-mouth-to-mouth was obvious. Just actually trying to give real mouth-to-mouth would have been less obvious. Zero pressure. No attempt to seal for proper air flow… It gives “gay” more than a man giving another man mouth-to-mouth ever could (by homophobic straight people who point out such contact between same-gendered people, of course). They showed so many angles of that kiss-that-was-not-a-kiss- and for so long, too. I chuckled, shook my head, and moved on.
The guard for the remote house is supposed to be in the form of all the fencing they put up and the traps they set. Plus they have an alarm system for whatever makes it through their attempts. Seems realistic enough to me for people with average survival skills. Wonder how long it took them to find a house with an alarm system... But they did also have bars on at least some of the windows, as evidenced by them looking out at A Lie while he was chopping firewood. So there is that. Seems like a solid temporary safe house in an apocalypse. I definitely wouldn't want to try living in a city packed full of zombies (Train to Busan recalls).

But it’s not a spoiler. The poster was referencing a completely different movie that I am assuming this drama’s plot reminds them of. Doesn’t mean they’re right. Doesn’t mean it’s a spoiler. Looks like a reasonable theory to me.
These long, lingering gazes… Lin Zai is smitten and A Lie isn’t that far behind. The thumbnail for episodes 5 and 6 show more of this, and I’m so here for it. I kind of expected the ending of episode 4 to happen at any time since they met. I was waiting for it, so when it came I was like, yup. It’ll be interesting to see how this new development is worked through between them.
I’m also now curious about the age A Lie is supposed to be- 25-28 maybe, while Lin Zai is called a college boy, so he must be closer to 20. Chen Lang matches that age vibe well, though he’s 26. And Chen Ming Hao matches the mid-to-upper 20’s well, though he’s 32. I say all this because I’m always glad when casting matches the age of the characters in looks, no matter their actual age. It’s hard for me to buy into an actor who looks like they’re in their late 20s+ playing a high school sophomore or a freshman in college, for example. It distracts me from the story every time.
On another vein, is the Ai intro an issue? No. I always skip intros. Is the Ai music an issue? They should have at least made it in the native language rather than English. If they did it to “appeal to international viewers”, most of us of Cdrama watchers (and bl watchers) are used to music not being in English. For me, it sounds wrong- like watching a dubbed drama. Will it negatively impact my viewership? Not really. Ai isn’t going anywhere. Productions just need to use it in a more sophisticated and less obvious way. They’ll figure it out. Right now, it allows lower budget productions to see the light, so I won’t complain about it here. It’s WAY better than the Ai mess that is Blue Lips (completely unwatchable for me).

-In the zombie shows I’ve seen (albeit only a few), and the zombie movie clips people have posted that somehow made it onto my algorithm, show zombies mostly wandering aimlessly until “activated” by the presence/scent of living creatures- then they are all athletes or something, driven by their animalistic instinct to feed. Swarming on the living like a hive of murder hornets.
- A house in the woods would likely be more safe than a city because there wills be less possibility to run into the mindlessly infected. Zombies tend to wander where they’ve died. Though they still have attacks for a wandering zombie frequently enough to have traps, which our ML checks pretty often. I would likely try to find a more secluded safe house like this if I somehow miraculously survived the initial outbreak of a zombie apocalypse. The number of attackers and the frequency of attacks would be greatly diminished.
-Food being left out in the open is likely because those who attempted to take it were turned into zombies by the high population of zombies in and around the school building. Most survivors probably decided to avoid it because of the population of zombies there. It’s the same building he lost is older brother in, and there were quite a few hidden around the maze of the school. They were in what looked like the student snack store of the school- which does exist irl. I mostly saw them grabbing junk/processed food, but still food. Survivors can’t be choosers and all that. I doubt there’s much produce and fresh food left, if at all, at this point. They would benefit from planting seeds if the could find any and had enough access to potable water- which is not clear at this point. After 6 months, most utility plans would likely be inoperable or inefficiently supporting the designated cities/towns (downside to finding a safe place in the woods- potable water would probably need to be sourced at some point).
Though I do agree that the likelihood of there being liquor in a school is a bit of a stretch. I believe it’s against the law in ‘most’ countries to sell liquor on the campus of any K-12 school because, well, minors and all that. Maybe it’s a translation error in the subtitles, though…?
And the “mouth to mouth” was not CPR even if you were squinting while watching…
Honestly ecstatic that the BL world is tackling a zombie genre which is awesome because I love zombie flicks so…
I’m the opposite. While I loved Train to Busan, I avoid most horror dramas, especially zombie dramas. But aside from the walking dead (the makeup is done well here), I will be enjoying the story. I’ve already been doing the 10 second skips through some of the slashing and hacking scenes. Still enjoyable (this part is just for those who are like me who want to watch but just don’t “do” zombies).

Yup, as long as this doesn’t morphe into another ‘Lost to You’ non-ending (because wtf was that last episode?!!!), I think this will be another solid BL worth the hype of the trailer. Acting 👍🏽Cinematography 👍🏽Story👍🏽 Chemistry 👍🏽 I’m caught🎣.

I enjoyed watching this drama. Though I have reached a point in my CDrama viewership where I watch in 2x speed sometimes and sometimes 10 sec skip through the mundane scenes (you can kinda get a feel for when it’s not gonna cost you to do this after about a dozen or two dramas under your belt- and I’ve seen WAY more than that)- it didn’t mean this drama lacks in good storytelling and acting. The hero’s arc of Wu Geng/Gou is quite engaging. He goes through A LOT. Like, every episode our guy is going through it. But you know the saying that pressure turns coal into diamonds…that’s his story. And Ren Jia Lun does a great job portraying this trial by fire and growth with unwavering selflessness and conviction. His mantle is heavy, but he bears it.
Little things made me go 🤔. The hair on our guys sometimes had me wanting to go back in time and fire the hair stylist because wtf is that hot mess?!
Overall, I enjoyed this quite a bit. 8.5/10 (only because I wanted a different ending- just a personal choice, and because sometimes the CGI was a little too obvious in terms of fakeness that it became a bit of a distaction for me).

I think Red means more than evil. James doesn’t explain what each color means, so it could mean more than evil or malicious. I think red is more complex than the show is revealing for now. I feel like it represents the strongest of emotions. Just a theory, though. I need to binge the book before next week. Or just suffer in the angst of waiting for a slow reveal each week.

I’m sitting here just pondering it. Maybe neither one is actually medically colorblind. Maybe the color blindness is actually a reference to Ken’s lack of color in his aura- at least, from James’ perspective. I rewatched the scene where James is drunk and pointing out the rainbow fish to Ken to identify. Though we see Ken looking at a gray fish, he correctly identified its color. He identified as being medically colorblind, but I wonder if it’s just a cover for his Nour identity. Like, if he is undying, he has a loss of vibrancy in his life. Colors are desaturated because being a Nour is a lifeless and depressing existence (as evidenced by his repeated attempts to end it over the centuries). I imagine reds may be the first to fade over time- as it holds vitality in its symbolism across many cultures. I wonder if he will start to see colors more boldly, especially reds and oranges. The more he opens up to James, the more the world become more vibrant to him.
