I’m not really a AuSave cp fan, but I’m looking forward to Ryujin and Patji because I’ve been rooting for them since DMD Friendship 2.

There’s gotta be one I guess

He’s probably the “bad guy”/unwilling 3rd in a love triangle (my interpretation of the synopsis) because the cast order has an official ship as the mains and as the supports and friends of one of the CP MLs right after.

I was kinda sad about him not acting. I don’t care so much about cp breakups, but I did enjoy him in Bed Friend- the sass was peak for me. So I’m actually looking forward to him being on screen again, CP or not.

Same. Maybe I’m spoiled by groups like BUS and LYKN and independent singers like Jeff Satur. Preference is according to taste and is subjective, I guess. It’s nice that DMD tries to fulfil their talents’ dreams though. I respect them for that. And they don’t sideline CPs with talent for those who are trendy ships, unlike GMM.

Anyone else’s iQIYI stuck in Reserve for this show? I watched it on Viki, but sometimes I like iQIYI. It says releasing today at 7:30am…which has come and gone.

Yeah. I know. The MDL app sucks with auto correct. I try to catch them but sometimes I miss.

He tried though, I guess. And Net found a good partner in JJ.

Edit- apparently he’s still in the group. So tried in past tense is inaccurate. And he has a fan base (I did some research). The group’s music is still not for me, but it is what it is. I’m just glad to see him on screen again.

I believe word around was that he was not very talented as a singer- I’ve heard his music, but not since his debut.

My comment was in direct response to the comment you made of there being no close ups. So I believe your upset is over the wrong thing in this case. Because there were close ups in this drama. Unless your definition of a close up is different from mine- I’ll give you that and we will just call it an “agreement to disagree.”

In this global society, generalizations are everywhere. It is human nature to generalize because it takes less time than categorizing every single thing. From a psychological standpoint. If it doesn’t apply to you, you choose to ignore it or confront it, depending on how it makes you feel or how important it is to you how others perceive you. This is also human nature.

I get that many of you like the poetic nature of this drama. There are also some of you (you being the ubiquitous you- watchers of this drama) who watch because the visuals or the plentiful kiss scenes. Then there are some of us who watched and scratched our heads in a total lack of understanding for the appeal.

And as you mentioned that you believe PoJ was watched for the looks- I will absolutely agree, generally. The sheer volume of people raving about his looks was embarrassing. I like his acting. He has talent. I really enjoyed the plot most- weak appearance but totally devoted to the woman he loves. The kissy kissy time was…ok. They have on screen chemistry, fine. But I enjoyed the story of endless devotion way more. That’s a love story I’m a fan of. And I know I’m a minority in this- generally speaking. I didn’t watch Overdo, because I can’t with that time period- I don’t care who’s acting in it (well, maybe I’d at least give it a try if Hou Ming Hao or Cheng Lei were leads because they’re two of my favorite actors- I love their acting styles).

That’s the problem when some people go into a drama for the looks of actors, or the intimate stares or kisses from edits people post on social media, regardless of plot- they’re bound to be disappointed. Me? I watched the first few episodes of this drama with everyone else before deciding to pause until it all aired because of the angst I could see coming from miles away. I did the same with The Edge of Horizon. But in this particular drama’s case, I didn’t feel connected to the characters or their angst at all. I felt disjointed most of the time after, I think, episode 5 (after whatever episode dealt with the mourning of his “mother of 3 lifetimes”).

This is what I love about JBLs- on the surface, they may seem just cute and fluffy, with exaggerated emotional responses and dialogue (usually from the uke), but under all that lies the address of some meaningful topic. In this case, we’re addressing the road to sexual discovery and how that may not follow the “traditional” path. Navigating this discovery in a conservative society. Finding one’s identity and what that may mean.

Crazy mid-labeling of her relationship with Sota aside (literally EVERYONE would misunderstand), the conversation Rio has with Natsuki is heartwarming. The one she has with Sota is kind and firm. I’m wondering if she will have one with her mom following what she saw at the end of episode 7?

I also love their support of each other. I don’t think their dad saying Natsuki can’t take the college entrance exam if he doesn’t pass the mock exam is too harsh. It feels like he’s a father trying to motivate his son. He’s not a harsh father, but a pragmatic one in this case. And the mom is trying her best to understand and support.

Um, maybe because it’s true… I always see comments where some watchers rave about the looks of the actors or the NC scenes being the reason they watch. I’ve been on MDL long enough to see it. Both in BL and in mainstream.

Ans were we watching the same drama? I literally just watched it. There most definitely were close up shots.

There are superficial people who watch for the eye candy and kiss scenes. That’s literally all they post about this drama on social media while I was waiting to watch until it finished. Just snippets of kiss scenes. Other scenes were few and far between. So I’m gonna keep my comment. If you noticed, I said they found it poetic or MAYBE for the kiss scenes. so you could fall into any category.

Surprisingly, I’m watching to the end… at 2x speed. It’s still very uneventful for the most part. I imagine those raving about it found it poetic- maybe some like the eye candy and plentiful kissing scenes… I don’t know. I’m just watching to say I made it at this point. I have about 10-15 minutes left- on 2x with my occasional 10 second skips. I don’t think my rating will improve magically by the conclusion of this drama though. You’re right. Liu Jing Yu cannot save this for me.

Don’t come after me for this but…I’m halfway through episode 8 and am just…bored and a bit confused.The plot is slow and it feels like important connecting scenes were deleted. The chemistry is there. The cinematography is there, but I feel like I’m watching a metaphoric plot. It’s like reading poetry to me. I just don’t get most of it (never have). It’s moving too slow at times, then there’s a jump of something actually happening, but those events are far apart… I may end up dropping this highly loved bl drama after all since I’m watching most of it in 1.5x speed.

Absolutely zero character development and plot growth- that was my que to drop.
