No worries! I’ve actually just started getting into Cdramas in the last few months, so haven’t really seen that many. The episode runtime and count were mental barriers for me (40 episodes 🤯) I’ve since gotten over. Though my focus has been on wuxia dramas like The Untamed, Love in the Clouds, Fangs of Fortune, and Whispers of Fate... I think this list is largely more modern dramas, though I haven’t explored all the linked shows.

She does do a fair amount of that at the beginning, but that makes her bond with him that much more compelling. She doesn’t push him away for too too long though. It was an emotional ride, for sure.

I second Love in the Clouds. It’s 100% worth the watch. Fangs of Fortune is another really, really amazing one. Of course, if you haven’t watched The Untamed, it’s a must (I see you and I have some similar watches in our completed lists, so The Untamed is a MUST). Moonlight Mystique is another good one where the ML and FL have a lot of back and forth with the trust and secrets. Bai Lu is the FL and she’s an amazing actress.
unpopular opinion: chinese BLs are far better than thai BL.
Not even close to an unpopular opinion atp 😊 I keep saying over and over that if China ever lifts their censorship restrictions, they would be Number 1 in the BL industry easily. They’d leave Thailand in the dust. Part of Thailand’s problem is that they’ve become complacent in storytelling and actor quality. They value pair marketing over quality production. Very few good BLs are coming out of Thailand as a result. and GMMTV is snapping up all the “popular” couples, but aren’t hiring good scriptwriters. If they did away with pairing, they’d be much better off. Add better writers and less focus on the very cringy product placement that’s so blatantly obvious it’s laughable (and eye rolling every single time I see it). Though I really did like Keng and Namping’s drama- and I’m not a fan of horror. I think that was one of the few Thai BLs I truly enjoyed for acting, plot, and production in a long while.
I’m at episode 20 and I have 16 more episodes to go . My question: What ELSE are they gonna throw at this couple?! The cast really did well. I fell in love with HMH’s acting in Dashing Youth, so I picked FoF up… After a few cdramas in between, I’m on the way to watch Love in the Clouds.

It’s because he couldn’t support the idea of immortals as it would somehow destabilize the citizens if they lost faith in him because he chose to believe in the existence of immortals. He believed her, but had to keep it from everyone for the sake of the city’s citizens. Not quite clear in the reasoning behind that. Maybe he believed that if he also expressed his belief in immortals, the citizens would lose trust in his ability to keep them safe or something. It’s kind of weak and not really explained that well to me, but I imagine if one is Chinese from China, they may understand the meaning behind his explanation better. I’m sure there’s a school of thought behind it- likely Taoist, because of the link in the show. I’m not well-versed in Taoism though.
My take upon further reflection: Her pursuit of immortals led her to be quite foolish and easily led astray. Because of this, despite her conviction and smarts, the citizens didn’t take her seriously and often ridiculed her. Imagine if her father, the governor of the city, shared that he believed her? Chaos. How could he then maintain the respect of the people he was charged with governing and protecting? The collapse of the leader- and subsequently the citizens- is the lack of faith of the people under his care of his ability to lead. You saw how quickly they condemned him once trouble found them, despite his devotion to them? He understood human greed quite well.
OMG. Finished episode 20 and I can’t with this episode. It’s tearing me apart. I really feel for the unfairness of the fate of this little fox. And for A’Qi’s story.

I get where she’s coming from though. He was wrong on many levels. The first was lying to her for all the time they’ve known each other. He kept a pretty huge secret from her- one that could have made her feel supported despite what everyone else thought of her. Instrad, she was ridiculed by all- including him, by his silence. He then overvalued her life over the lives of all in the city, which caused her father to be hurt and eventually die. This is what she can’t let go of. He cares for her, and loves her in his own way, but not in the way she needs. He could have confessed the truth about immortals and his identity, then asked her to keep the secret and explain why. With her personality, she would have. She would have been comforted by the knowledge that she wasn’t wrong and that someone believed her. This man she thought understood her, understand nothing about what she truly values. I get it. It’s a betrayal.
