My take after the first 3 episodes? Not exactly the best, not the worst, mostly mid. The parts that bother me the most though- and I may be the only one- is the songs Shi Xian’s supposed to be singing do not match his lips or his energy (or the band’s energy for that matter). It bothers me, like watching a dubbed drama (which I can’t do). The other thing that is clear is that these are two very straight men- or, at least men who are very clearly getting paid to act this script- acting out intimate scenes. The kissing… 😮💨 They need more time in a workshop or the casting director needed to choose different actors because the chemistry isn’t there for me. It feels like they were very, very reluctant to touch lips and were reminded (and mentally reminded themselves in the moment) that they are getting paid to do this. Is it just me? I actually had to skip parts because I just couldn’t- it was too painful to watch.
There’s a line said to Shi Xian that I really don’t think applies- that he’s “popular with both girls and guys”… I honestly don’t see it. Is it because he’s tall and is supposed to have a bad boy vibe? (I don’t feel that either, btw…). I think that would apply more to Teng Mo.
I’ll stick with it until at least next week because the storyline sounded good and I’m hoping this improves. I’m especially hoping the chemistry improves drastically.
Not me actually enjoying this, despite its format. I kept imagining what it would be like as a 8-12 episode drama. I think the pacing was good and the editing, as well. Nothing really felt rushed to me. The acting was well done and both MLs were matched well, I think.
I know I’m gonna enjoy this series. 🥰 And I was like, wait! Haven’t I seen the actor for Wataru somewhere before? Yes, yes I have! in Minato’s Coin Laundry and Shinsengumi: I Bloom with You. 🥰🥰 Glad to see he has a lead role here, as well.
They just met. No feelings yet. I expect to see "better" later on.
But they’re supposed to be soulmates. Their chemistry should be more natural and a bit more sensual, kind of like how they were when they were scenting each other the next morning. THAT scene made way more sense.
It’s following the book exactly so it’s not the show but the story.
Just because it’s in the book doesn’t mean they have to follow exactly. I feel like they should have fought for a better placement to info dump to the audience.

It’s an Nc scene in a way. I think it’s meant to be, but they added this awkwardly done and badly directed and edited out of control scene (like, why speed this up?). Not sensual in any way. It was ok until they started weirdly thrashing about like that. It was honestly just painful to watch.

The way I kept pausing and tipping my phone over in “what-the-fu*kery”…Disbelief. Cringe. Today’s episode lasted WAY too long.
Side thought- why did Alpha introduce him to his bodyguard AFTER he’d already spent an afternoon hovering and explaining he was there to protect him? You’d think the introductions would happen BEFORE they even left the residence… Like “hey, I’m worried something will happen to you because I’m mad possessive since we’re bonded, so here is Ai your bodyguard. He’ll be going with you literally everywhere when you leave the house and no, you can’t get rid of him.” Then we cut to him at the cafe. Easy. I kept thinking, is this how it’s actually written?

It’s funny because most people who watch omegaverse already know how it works. Maybe I’m wrong. But most of us don’t need to be spoon fed plot info about background history like this. For those that do, they could have done a narration at the beginning of episode 1 or done short flashbacks to him remembering ABO Health 101 class and shit like that. would be much more entertaining that assuming he’s just that oblivious living in a city surrounded by information and various kinds of people. The question should be, how tf would he NOT know about ABO?

Like, it’s even a bigger stretch that he grew up in a world with ABO and doesn’t know ANYTHING about them?! And he’s not even living in a small town somewheee away from modern life. That part doesn’t sit well. Most omegaverse stories don’t have clueless characters to this extent. At least, none that I’ve read. They at least KNOW about the existence of ABO… How does a guy reach his 20s and not know ANYTHING? ok…I’ll pretend this HUGE flaw doesn’t exist because I want the reverse relationship build story. They could have info-dumped at the beginning with an overview narration instead. That makes more sense. Or flashbacks to his time in school learning about all this (like an ABO health class or something).

The toy and slick was…I had to pause to process and laugh because wtaf 😆
