I have to say as a novel reader so far 9/10 the cast amazing, script amazing with dashes of cringey romance and…
The novel is craziness. There are parts I REALLY REALLY hope they don't put in because it's a huge whatthefuckery. (Mostly having to do with the nephew. That part can just disappear forever and I'll be okay.) You know? The live adaptation is definitely captivating me, having read the novel. The novel as a whole lot more chaos thrown in. The live adaptation cleans it all up. I think I read somewhere that the author had asked people not to read the novel because she was in a different headspace then and kind of regretting some of what she had written. But people read it anyway. So many of the English translations disappear off Wattpad, only to be replaced by another fan translation.

Is there an uncut version, or is this just pretty tame? It seems the love scenes are pretty much off camera, which…
It's a Chinese BL so yeah, pretty tame. The novel is SIGNIFICANTLY more explicit. The spice mostly happens in the background in the series and is definitely a step up for Chinese BLs of late. I think even the Taiwanese BLs are pretty tame, too, compared to other countries. You have Chinese same-sex censorship policies to thank for the timidness of the production of Chinese/Taiwanese BLs.

I was so immersed in WSW crying that i didnt think about how his reaction to yueyue and CC kiss was so different…
Right?! Even with 3 years with Yue Yue, he's not nearly as bothered by her departure as the possibility of losing Chi Cheng. What a difference someone who treats you well makes.

I am neither bored, angry, annoyed, or almost done with this series. I'm here for the entire chaotic ride. Happily so. Misunderstandings abound and the ripple effect is huge. But I'm here for it, especially knowing there will be a make up episode. THAT is our reward for this roller coaster of misunderstanding madness.

Xiao Shuai and Cheng Yu's first kiss was so damn perfect, I just can't move on from it. The context of XS moving…
OMG it really was. Super sweet and romantic. ChengYu knows what his doctor needs and is patient af and so damn attentive of him, I forgive his earlier handling of that traitor guy in the beginning of the series.

Keeping a tally of Wei Wei's musculus gluteus being grabbed in public. Plus one in EP.16!
So...this is the less of "evils". In the novel, Chi Cheng goes after his more delicate "orbs" in the front... Pinching them hard, frequently. He's just as obsessed with SuoWei's "orbs" as he is with his "fat ass" in the novel. For obvious reasons, we only get the ass obsession. But the novel had me laughing every time he went for the other side...

Title Revenged Love Spoiler
Question: Wang Shuo and Xiao Shuai slept together? and is Wei Wei having feelings for the trainer? WW said that…
They haven't slept together yet. Just kissed. And SuoWei idolizes the Wang Zhen. He has no romantic feelings towards him. But he's using Chi Cheng's jealousy to embellish the relationship so that when Chi Cheng breaks up with him, he will feel justified. SuoWei believes Chi Cheng only likes him but loves Wang Shuo and will eventually leave him for Wang Shuo. He's trying to build walls to guard himself.

That is why I prefer (so far) the 2nd couple (why do they have so little screen time? 😭). Yes, he lied about…
It really is those small details that make Hua Yong so mesmerizing to me. I’m sure the series will show it right as the author is the one producing the series. The actors interviewed mention how important it was for the series to be as authentic to the series as possible. They were upset over the lack of accurate portrayal of Hua Yong as a child because the director who did that scene was different and didn’t follow the plan. They didn’t have time to refill it so they had to accept what was filmed.

Agreed. The damsel in distress gets tiring after reading it for so long. I have little patience for it in dramas too at this point. He stays helpless to his situation for too long, whereas Hua Yong is willing to make moves. Every decision he makes is for Sheng’s benefit AND with the goal of them being permanent mated. He’s super cute in the novel when it comes to Sheng. I love his badassery when it comes to protecting Sheng no matter what. The threat to Shen about laying hands on Sheng had me smiling.

And definitely Gao Tu will deny his secondary gender for as long as humanly possible since that’s the only way he thinks he can stay close to Shen, as Shen has been very clear about his dislike of omegas. I’m looking forward to seeing the novel play out on screen. I want more of badass Hua Yong giving no Fs except for his alpha.

Absolutely! I agree with you 100%. My fave storyline is also the E/A line. 😊 I honestly think Shen is ignorant for way too long. Signs are clear to anyone paying attention. And Gao Tu has had so many opportunities to come clean or leave, but chooses to stay for selfish reasons- even if he reasons it as being for Shen. Omegas can also become fixated on their alphas, too. Which he very much is. The A/O storyline is predictive and typical of omegaverse. That’s probably why I also am drawn to the less portrayed story between the E/A couple. It’s fresh.

I think there’s a bias toward Gao Tu and against Hau Yong when they’re basically doing the same thing to be close to their alphas. The only difference between them is the confidence and second gender (which plays a HUGE role in their actions and thought processes). Because Gao Tu lacks confidence and has the submissive personality of an omega, he manipulates to stay close, hurting himself. Hua Yong is more confident and has the dominant personality rivaling an alpha, so he goes further.

I wonder how much people know about the omegaverse. I’ve read TONS, even before getting into BL, so I understand Hua Yong and Gao Tu and the whole dynamic between the characters pretty well. The novel has the gender classes down in the same way as almost all of the omegaverse books and webtoons I’ve read. For me, none of the characters are acting outside of my expectations, which means I’m just enjoying all of them. Hua Yong is acting like a typical omegaverse alpha in manipulating the gender class below him. He’s an enigma, so he’s manipulating an alpha. Imagine if he were doing so to an omega love interest! 😰 I’m glad it’s an alpha to be honest. An alpha can handle him way better.

I wish there was a way to have explained Hua Yong’s chained rut as preventing mate-seeking more clearly. Like, why chain yourself because your in rut? Sheng didn’t do that during any of his ruts. He’s been doing it for YEARS because of his uncontrollable desire to seek out his mate before his mate is ready to accept him. He’d rather hurt himself than his alpha mate. Enigmas are strong, but he makes himself weak for Sheng. It actually causes some long term negative effects for him, all those strong suppressants. We will see this soon, I think. His injuries are also self-inflicted and very real- like Gao Tu’s self-harm. Does he hate being an enigma? No. Does he want to dominate Sheng? No. He wants to be Sheng’s and for Sheng to be his. It’s that simple. (I really loved the novel- so well-written. I’m sad it’s the only work the author has right now.)

That is why I prefer (so far) the 2nd couple (why do they have so little screen time? 😭). Yes, he lied about…
While Hua Yong met him once for a short time 15 years ago, he’s always been watching him since he became an adult, but especially since he took over the company and renamed it in honor of Sheng. He’s been observing him from a distance since that time and his feelings had only grown from a possessive obsession to true affection (for him) from there. Both Hau Yong and Gao Tu are obsessed with their love target. They just express it differently because of their own backgrounds and status in society.

Hau Yong’s suppressant use isn’t with malicious intent to me. He knows Sheng won’t be interested in him if he isn’t like the 32 orhers. He wants to be what Sheng is attracted to and goes through whatever to get there. But his nature is enigma, so he has to learn how to be vulnerable- or mimick it at least. Gao Tu has to mimic being an average beta, even though hes an omega. I think the differences between them as I stated before still stand. Both want their alpha, and do things to be close to them that are not true to themselves, and in the process they are hurting themselves and lying to their alphas. One just has more confidence than the other due to their nature and backstory. Many tend to lean toward the one with less confidence. I lean to the one with more. By any means necessary to get your man!

I think we've been a few commenting that he is too manipulative. I personally can't father how their relationship…
While I agree, and believe that things will become more clear as episodes progress, I also know that there are things in text that just can’t be done in live action due to timing. Monologues and descriptive text don’t always make it in, despite best efforts. So far they’ve been pretty true to the novel and the characters, except for that childhood scene. You’ll know soon. I do agree that allowing Sheng to believe he was repeatedly sexually assaulted by many alphas is cruel because Sheng is really a soft-hearted guy and actually cares about this little pure and innocent ā€œomegaā€.

If you read the novel, you’ll know how. I don’t want to spoil it because I can say that he is absolutely authentic when he talks about or to Sheng about how he feels about him. He’s not lying about that at all. He’s 100% down bad for his alpha. Unequivocally.

That is why I prefer (so far) the 2nd couple (why do they have so little screen time? 😭). Yes, he lied about…
The lying Gao Tu is doing to be close to Shen isn’t that different in my opinion. He’s ends up seriously hurting Shen without realizing it. I think we accept it more because his lies are physically hurting himself and Shen said some mean af things to him so he ā€œdeservesā€ our pity. He looks pitiful: he’s a poor omega with zero self-confidence because of his mother’s warnings so he thinks he can’t do much to change Shen’s view of him, despite his steadfast hidden love. Hua Yong is a rich enigma- top of the food chain, so we psychologically lean toward acceptance of the pitiful one. Hua Yong and Gao Tu are similar to me. Shen is the way he is because of events that happened on his childhood. He’s actually pretty pitiful but hiding it behind this facade because he’s an S-tier alpha so society expects something from him.

Hua Yong is also hurting himself by overusing the suppressants to be like an omega for Sheng. That’s why he passes out at the end of this episode. He uses significantly more (and stronger doses) in a short period of time because he’s so strong. Yet his scent still comes through- just more gentle, mimicking an omega. His natural scent is oppressive/intense. But the effects are just as bad for his system as the long-term suppressants Gao Tu has been taking for 10 years.

And yes, Hua Yong absolutely knows significantly more about Gao Tu than Shen. His cover story is basically Gao Tu. In the process of taking his back story identity, he makes sure Gao Tu’s sister is taken care of. He’s actually really kind to Gao Tu in the novel- in his way. He also passively tries to help Shen take the blinders off so many times. Shen is ridiculously one-sighted. For a ridiculously long time.

He’s manipulative as hell. But I’m actually here for it so it doesn’t bother me. It’s not reality anyway. I read the novel so I know how it all goes down- text wise. His scheming is actually quite intelligently done to achieve his prize. Yet even though he’s manipulating everything, he genuanely cares for Sheng. His love is…intense, but his childhood is to blame for that in part. Him being an enigma is also to blame in part. When he’s sharing his feelings about or with Sheng, he’s being 100% authentic.

Not too much. It’s more of a set up episode for the next one, I think.
Just that not much is happening- to me. it’s like a detail paragraph in a book where there’s a lot of explaining about things. I think that’s why there aren’t many comments on it.
