I loved every second but the ending. šš¤§š«They could have avoided the last 5 minutes and ended it just fine. Still, I recommend this drama, despite its lower rating- likely because of the last 5 minutes. I gave it a 9.5/10. Minus 1/2 āļøbecause of the ending.
After watching Dashing Yourh, I HAD to watch this next. I know Blood River is between them on the timeline, but Iāve never really been that drawn to the Assassin storyline. Though, with Gong Jun from Word of Honor as the main lead, I may need to (however, I think I have an ending spoiler from this series, meaning Iām not going to like the ending much- I wanted to finish these 3 before Blood of Youth 2.)
For those who watched Blood River- should I watch when I know the ending isnāt gonna be what I want?
I really liked the character Xiao Se in this, and the dynamic of all the friends he made along the way. Now I want to see more of Li Hong Yi. Lie Wujei was adorable in a simple, pure way, so AO Rui Peng nailed his role imo.
There was more romance tha I wanted, to be honest, as I like my Wuxia to have a lot of action, mystery, and good looking people dressed well and with the dashing bearing I canāt help but love on my screen. Heart-eyed love isnāt what Iām drawn to and I tend to skip through all that. Dashing Youth had a little less of it, which I appreciated.
In the end, I was hella entertained! I canāt wait for the second season!
This show is seriously my crack. itās like everything I eat up in BL manhwas. 8 episodes is criminal. I need 40 at minimum! The realization that I have to wait a whole week to see the next two is killing me slowly. I love that Korea is stepping way outside their comfort zone with this toxic, familial relationship drama.
Even if it bothers you, it is a step towards more daring BL dramas, especially after the success of Secret Relationships. Iām hopeful of a ABO series in the near future. They gotta keep up with the mad success China has with their BLs or get left in the dust.
Who knows, Fellow BL Loversā¦ We may get a Jinx adaptation made by Korea one day. I can dream, anyway. (Though Iād love to see Steel Under Silk by snob before that, or Gale of the Gods by Baek Sang-eon, to be honestā¦so many good manwhas out there that need a live action adaptation.)
I wish the last lines by Asami hinted at a Season 3ā¦With more of Sakuma and Yamase. Like, with them as the MLs and the other two as supporting. I love their interactions and would like to see more and deeper connections between them.
I wish I had waited until the last episode aired before watching. The weekly wait is TORTURE! š«Seriously. This may become another of my comfort BLs. This episode was super cute but so short!

Hereās my soul because what the š„µ was that episode my eyes were blessed with?! š„š« This is gonna be one hell of a ride as soon as Shu Lang discovers Fan Xaioās duplicity. Those credit scene are coming... I think Fan is forgetting- or at least discounting- how crazy his obsession is in his own right when heās been wrongedā¦ Iām here for it all.
I bawled like a baby. Seriously. Big, fat, hot, UGLY tears. Iām still a mess. I stayed up all night and into the morning hours to finish the last 10 episodes. I could not go to sleep without getting through it. And while Iām glad there was a special episode to try to lessen the pain, Iām still very much in my feels.
But the castā¦ How are all the heroes so damn good looking?! Like, I was even rooting for Li Lun because damn he is one fine naughty man. And our Great Demon.. now I need to pick Dashing Youth back up just to see him again.
I may also have a small, tiny tiny crush for Fei. Heās a new definition of toxic. Donāt judge me for it. Iām planning to happily skip to the next drama with Zou Yi or Yan An in it after finishing Dashing youth. Something where theyāre wearing long hairā¦because the long hair WORKS for me.

Hot dayum. Iām looking forward to the rest of this. The toxicity. The chemistry. Itās definitely less toxic than the manhwa, but still up there in enjoyability if you like toxic relationship dramas. Bro is passively addicted to Iljo. And Iljo is definitely okay with being Jeong Hanās obsession- and he is DEFINITELY obsessed. Obsessed and POSSESSIVE AF. And Iām here for every second of this ride.
Jeong Ri U brought the š„in his Sukfilm works, especially Seoul Blues, and heās still bringing it. The man is good. Like, those kisses have me š« . Donāt know why but I didnāt expect Yoon Ji Sung to meet him with equal š„. The man is bold and makes no apologies. No hesitation. Iām very glad for it. Itās gonna make for one hell of a series as long as it doesnāt fall flat towards the end. fingers crossed. PLEASE donāt fall flat. This will be a repeat watch if it stays as strong as Secret Relationship did.
It was cute but I really liked the manga better. The extra scenes and the closeness was moreā¦something. Also, the Chiaki in the manga looked way different and the personality was just a bit āmore.ā Maybe if they hadnāt given him that har jobā¦ It didnāt suit him at all. Iām gonna check out another one of his dramas where heās a ML though.
AE/Enaga was well-casted though. Heās gorgeous. I want to watch him in other dramas- BL or not (though BL is preferable, of course š). Those eyesā¦ Seriously.
