Yue and her secret crush without taking the chance until her best friend found love is utter stupidity on her part and unnecessary. She could have just as easily been the super supportive best friend and IG wouldn’t really change the plot at all. Why do the females need to be this way in BLs in 2025?
And while the storyline of the 2nd MLs rings more realistic and the chemistry between them more true, unlike some, I found the confession to kiss to bedroom realistic for our MLs. Both are supposed to be young. Frankly, why withhold when you’ve confirmed shared feelings and have the place to yourselves? I wouldn’t squander such an opportunity, that’s for sure 😉🐇🐇🐇🐇🐇. But I CAN do without fish kisses, where the actors’ necks visibly pull away as they’re kissing (except for the bed scene). More workshops for it to be less rigid and visibly uncomfortable throughout every fiber of their body.
Also, like a mentioned below, saying GAY is fine. Seriously. Bro is GAY. Gay gay gay gay gay 🏳️🌈. That’s why he doesn’t like his chick bestie. Bro likes 🍆 not 🍑 ffs. Nothing wrong with that. Seriously.
With the preview for next week (😭 so far away), it looks like we finally get the last stage of healing and confirmation of shared feelings between our 2nd MLs. Yay! Now don’t y’all go criticizing them for jumping into the sack. They’ve been pent up long enough…7 episodes is plenty for *ahem* healthy young men. 🫣🤫🤭😉 Yet a bit more angst for the teen and adult. Throw the chick in again for funzies (just kidding…please leave her outta it…for the love of all that’s holy). Of course our teen will run away rather than confront the unpleasant and discuss it rationally…which I’m assuming happens from the previews.
At least there are more dramas keeping me company each week. And the idol-turned-BL survivor show Chuang Asia S2. iykyk 🤭🤭🤭
I think what’s so endearing about this series is that its focus isn’t on boy’s love, but on the innocence of first love and all that it entails, especially when you don’t know how to express it well yet and are consumed by teen hormones and runaway thoughts that lead to impulsive actions. Then trying to backtrack when your mind is somewhat settled. That’s clearly Amagi, but more subtly in Takara. I’ve rewatched so many times and I love this series.
If you keep the fact that the premise is what I’ve described, and enjoy it being mostly lighthearted teenage angst , you’ll likely enjoy the series.
Something about JBLs always have my heart. This series and Mr. Unlucky Has No Chioce But to Kiss, (among others) have a similar vibe. Ameiro Paradox has a little more adult vibe but still similar, like My Beautiful Man S2. My Beautiful Man: Eternal the movie and My Personal Weatherman are more mature as the couples have a more established relationship- however they define the complexities of that relationship.
Now, if you want more serious JBLs, I think there are some great offerings. Our Dining Table, Life-Love on the Line, Our Youth, and Tokyo in April is… (among others).
There are definitely more. Raw and unapologetic is Dangerous Drug of Sex (it left GagaOOLala so you’d have to look elsewhere). This movie is not for the faint of heart though. Definitely addresses significant traumas and should come with a warning label because it has some seriously mature scenes and more. But it deals with some deep $hit. My hat’s off to the actors though because those scenes … iykyk right?
Takara-Kun and Amagi-kun is about teen first love and also happens to feature two boys who navigate through their feelings for each other while suffering from (avoidable if you’re an adult and used to sharing your feelings and didn’t grow up in a culture that avoids potential social conflict arising from openly discussing emotions to keep harmony, or “honne and tatemae”- as explained to me by my Japanese friends) misunderstandings.
Lee Jun Young nailed the bad guy roll. And Shin Hye Sun had me cheering her on every minute. I loved the mid-credit ending scenes. Makes me want a part 2, but also gives closure.
I enjoyed myself quite a bit. Were there plot holes? Yes. Was it a bit too simplistic? Yes. Did I still enjoy it? Absolutely. Also a side-observation is that their surnames and their characters’ are the same. I always wonder why when I see the “coincidence” in casting. Will they forget who is who if not or did the writers have them in mind when scriptwriting, or some other reason? idk
I started watching for Jeff, BamBam and The8 and stayed for them plus Hu Ye Tao (and this side BL drama I unwittingly stepped into somehow is interesting. BamBam has no filter and it’s hella entertaining).
I love how Ye Tao is breaking trends and that he’s also good at what he does. He deserves to debut. Thi-O is my 2nd pick. I also like Ninja and Yao Zi Hao and Omar.
Nope. It’s only slightly better than Love is Like a Cat imo (which I did not finish- quit partway through episode 1). Petch is the only thing good about this series and that awkward and unnecessary solo pillow scene wasn’t enough to redeem it. Just a show about an empty-headed adult with almost comically evil parents and a bunch of horny teens playing at adulthood. Oh, and the ridiculous Pony who somehow manages to save the day? Because that makes sense. I felt like I needed to be high to enjoy this show. Maybe it would have helped. Unfortunately, I was sober so had to skip through the vast majority of it. Why didn’t I just drop it? Well, it’s like watching a train wreck.
Its not good but its not bad either. I have seen worse shows in my life.
It’s better than Sangmin Dinneaw and Love is Like a Cat. But not really worth watching if you have something else on your list. Save (Jay) was my reason for seeing it through. For me, it’s a 6/10 if I’m being generous.
It's clearly not a masterpiece, but I don't think that is fair rated at this point... It's not eccentric romance…
Love is Like a Cat was definitely worse. And Sangmin Dinneaw right up there with it. But I guess I’m a little stingy with my ratings because a 7.5 this was not to me. Maybe a 6, and that’s because Save is cute and I think he could do well with a different script.
I wanted to like it. The only good thing about it wax the OST and Save because he’s cute. He couldn’t save the show though. Are there worse ones out there? Absolutely. Sangmin Dinneaw is DEFINITELY worse (skipped through 80% of it for my sanity). Love is like a Cat was unfinishable for me (I watched half of ep 1). This was a little too pointless, fluffy, and unbelievable for me. The suspects were obvious as soon as the attention shifted (I think episode 5 or 6). There’s a humorous review by Honglou Meng that sums it up pretty nicely.
Now to rewatch one of my fave K or J bls to clear my head from this mess.
Underwhelming. Inthought the SE would wrap things up better but it left me feeling like I could care less. The whole plot was filled with holes. Now I’m done and this can stop haunting me in my unfinished series list.
The fake tatoos in "Heart Killers" are worse imho :)Hmmm, the acting was not good for me because I can't see any…
The toxic fans will always be a problem. There needs to be more mentally healthy fans to offset the toxicity. I’m thinking also of the toxicity surrounding the reveal of Both and Newyear’s breakup. The hate that’s being spewed is really sickening. I honestly don’t understand how people can think they own everything about a celebrity they supported and expect that the celebrity owes them! As if they aren’t people. It’s a mental disorder for sure. I go home ThanePo at least opens the door to conversations about this problem, regardless of the main purpose of its production (agreeably, exploitation for profit).
The fake tatoos in "Heart Killers" are worse imho :)Hmmm, the acting was not good for me because I can't see any…
Likely so. I wouldn’t be surprised if LYKN goes international as a result of this series. William definitely has the talent. He gambit back during Project Alpha. But so does Jeff Satur and he’s not as widely recognized as he should be. Especially after going solo.
The fake tatoos in "Heart Killers" are worse imho :)Hmmm, the acting was not good for me because I can't see any…
True. But wouldn’t it be interesting if this changes things? Or begin so to sway the public in facvor of the message in the script? It’s interesting that they’d make this series.

So true. There are very few GMMTV series that I truly can say are well done and memorable enough to rewatch (I mostly rewatch K and J dramas). I am loving ThamePo though. It’s like this anomaly of a series for GMMTV. Maybe because they’re also promoting their idol group LYKN. Either way, unless they sabotage this series in the last episode or two with something crazy unnecessary and unexpected, I’ll be adding it to my rewatch list.
It is interesting that such a powerhouse produces such low quality works so regularly.
I wouldn’t even say soft porn tbh. More like they debated between soft porn and comedic porn and the second…
I found none of them worth the watch. Maybe I’ve seen too many better-quality nc scenes that these just fell flat. Itf it wasn’t for the visual and acting of Petch, I don’t think most viewers would have watched to the end. I couldn’t even watch the pillow scene because it was just this odd scene thrown in like a half-a$$ attempt to save the series with Petch as bait.
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. The historical context and its very real impacts on S.Koreans today being explored had this history-lover hooked. Plus there’s Nam Joo Hyuk, who I love. I was hooked on the story and action. The pacing made the 2 hours fly by. I hadn’t predicted the ending right up until it was revealed.
