Not quite a show, but a discussion is what I’m after.
I don’t disagree with you at all about P10L. Force and Book absolutely don’t look like college students, first year or senior year. I skipped their episodes and even skip through their solo couple parts in the series because they’re so unbelievable as uni students. I would go so far as to say I’m not quite believing Junior as a sophomore uni student either, but with him I can stretch a bit because his face is younger (he’s 28) and he has a youthful vibe to him in general. The other couples work for me because they’re both young and fit the uni vibe.
I disagree that all college and high school students, whether portrayed by older actors or not, look older than their scripted age. I have not seen Elite as I don’t watch western dramas or movies anymore. I don’t believe acting determines their age because you can’t make people look younger. I wouldn’t believe ZeeNuNew as uni students anymore than I believe Earth (Santa’s old partner) or EarthMix as uni students. Earth and his whiny role in Fourever You annoyed me to no end. Even though I love Earth, he’s 30 so I found it difficult to watch and only tuned in when their storyline concluded (and also skipped through their solo couple parts). Gawin looks older. Noticeably.
Only Boo and My School President are high school so the target and content is expectedly lighter for the most part. I’m unclear as to why you brought them up, though? Unless you’re just pointing out the lack of NC- though that’s not my problem with My Golden Blood.
I guess we disagree on a fundamental level which is fine. I believe Gawin was inappropriately cast for this role as scripted. His acting skills aren’t being questioned because I know he’s a good actor. He’s likely doing what the director wants but I’m not buying what they’re selling because I have eyes. The pouty lips do not make him appear younger. He looks closer to 30 than 20, and his general vibes reflect a more mature person. I’m not alone in this. Many others have commented this, as well. I also think the whole easy acceptance of being lied too all his life quite difficult to believe. He seems largely unbothered and over it way too quickly. Also way too accepting of vampires, for existing in general, let alone being intimately involved in his life. But I am willing to overlook it. It’s harder to overlook the neverending pouty face on Gawin.
But these are my opinions and others, such as yourself, are of course free to feel differently and even love this series.

I agree. Tong as a senior in uni works. It’s still a cusp of another major life change. Maybe they meet during an internship while he’s a senior in uni? Mark as a CEO? I’d believe it. And he is still wearing a suit, which is a win for everyone. It makes more sense for a decades’ old vampire to have a prosperous business. Change the year when everything is resolved for Tong and the vamps from 21 to 24 or 25 and we are golden.
I feel the same. If there’s no noticeable development of Tong, I’m afraid I’ll have to drop this series I anticipated so much.
I am watching the KBL Heesu in Class 2, based on the manwha and love it. I haven’t read the manwha so it’s all fresh for me. I’m hoping Business as Usual, another KBL coming tomorrow, is just as catching for me. The trailer looks good. Oh! The anime 4-Week Lovers is releasing tomorrow, as well. At least I can happily anticipate Thursdays and Fridays for now 😊 I’ve rarely been disappointed in KBLs or JBLs. Maybe it’s because they produce so little compared to Thailand…
Fair point. What about all the other points I made, since you’ve focused only one one small part of my comment and found it “irksome” and labeled me as posting “without thinking.” Do you disagree or agree with anything more substantive? Do you find anything else in my long post unthinkingly written? I’m asking because I’d rather have dialogue than passive insults over polarized focus on a word or two.
Yes but they don’t look it. Mostly I just love them. But it’s been a while since I saw them in a series so Maybe my mind still sees them in the Between Us series for their age. Sea and Keen would do better age-believability-wise for sure.
Dear GMMTV and director- Please don’t do this series like My Golden Blood. Please don’t try to make it cutesy. Please please please! I need it to be like the trailer sells it- darker and more intense. I’m too disappointed in My Golden Blood. If this vamp series goes the way most other vamp BL series have gone, I’ll lose faith that the BL industry can produce quality vamp BLs. BounPrem have always delivered for me.
I’m seriously only watching this because I had such high expectations that I feel I can’t let go so quickly…yet. The unnaturally slow pace is one thing. I expected something else from the trailer. And the directing where Tong is this overly innocent and naive person is unbelievable. The pouty mouth thing Gawin does is probably to make him seem 20 when he’s not (how many 20 year olds pout like that, seriously?)- and doesn’t even look it- is off-putting and hella distracting. I’ve disliked it since E1 and it’s only getting worse. Why didn’t they write him as an office worker or something? I know it’s because the setting and plot is supposed to have him introduced to this other world at a new stage in life and venturing out on your own as a new adult fits, but none of them looks like a brand new and young uni student at all- except maybe Neo and AJ, who are 24. Either rewrite it to match the cast more realistically, or cast younger actors as mains (SeaKeen come to mind, or MickLuke, ChokunAston, MarkOhm, BounPrem or MarkPoon- actually BounPrem are my #1 pick). There are plenty to have chosen from. I feel like Joss and Gawin’s obvious chemistry is wasted here and hope they get a series that fits them better. The director is obviously trying to get Gawin to look younger through these childish expressions and acting immature, but it’s not believable because he’s 28 and doesn’t visibly look 20. Maybe 25 at the youngest, which makes the expressions and actions extra obvious. And Joss, aside from being hot af, isn’t convincing me that he’s decades’ old (I’m assuming only that because of when he’s supposed to have died- that flashback didn’t look too long ago). In any event, I’ll watch next week mostly because I haven’t found a replacement series I want to watch weekly yet.
I just finished this and holy he11 do I need a season 2. That was effing amazing to watch. Nam Joo Hyuk, Yo Ji Tae, Kim So Jin and Lee Jun Hyuk really were amazing in their roles. I’m in love with Kim Ji Yong frfr. For me, this series had the same vibe as The Devil Judge and A Killer Paradox. I need more.
I really hope for a Season 2 soon. I read online that it’s been confirmed as of July 2024 so I hope it happens.

I watched on Dailymotion in the US. I’ll watch again if iQIYI puts it out (not sure why they didn’t to be honest- seems like a miscalculation on their part).
They are masters of their craft. I think largely because they don’t hesitate to be authentic in their craft and true to their characters. How many BL actors bring out the tongue or are willing to go “below”? They’ve been doing it since their first series.
