Title Cheer Up
what does mc's nickname triple trouble mean/stand for lol..kinda silly question but her best friend and the other…
Hahaha it's actually like a slang/term in Korea "많이자고,많이먹고,많이싸서 뭍여진 도햬이어 별명" meaning "she slept a lot, ate a lot, and always being a cheapo, so she got her nickname" reflecting how she as a person. Hope this helps!

Title Cheer Up
Hmm so I finished watching the drama today and I really disagree with the negative reviews. I'm so thankful that I watch it despite seeing so many underwhelming responses from here! It's honestly a very well made story and also a good introduction to Korea's cheerleading culture. I will share my perspective as a person in the mid-20s and currently working.

First, I could tell this drama production didn't have the best budget to compete with other dramas led by A-list casts airing in the same period. But I'm so glad they chose these actors for the roles because it suit them so much. I instantly fell in love with Do Hae Yi's personality, she is so bubbly and brave even in the worse circumstances which I totally admire her because I've went through lots of tough times myself and I understand why she behaved this way to overcome the constant negativity and stress. I know many viewers criticized her for being a wishy-washy between 2 guys' pursuit, but please recount your own school days as well, don't you encounter such issues yourself and didn't know who to accept?

Issues with Jin Sun Ho being a bastard seemed quite ridiculous to me, I get that ppl compared his f**kboy nature to reality but we got to remember it's a story and his actions is linked to his childhood and family background. Obviously I'm not encouraging anyone to easily accept such people who may be immoral and irresponsible in real life. There are also group of fans being upset that he wasn't chosen by Hae Yi despite trying so hard, honestly these ppl really need to visit a doctor and see the outside world more... It's so obvious he was still very closed off to her when he was interested and wooing her. He only completely opened up to her when his mom got hospitalized and it also came to a realization to him that they are not suitable and decided to let go of his obsession. I just felt so bad and hilarious realizing the 3rd prophecy is actually pointing towards him which was a major plot twist!

I also like that this drama include a lot of unspoken rules in our society. One of which is the gender difference in treatment when the previous captain Lee Yoo Min was caught dating a junior member and when Park Jung Woo was caught dating. Not sure if the director did so to show the unfairness in our society or unintentionally, but it made the drama more realistic in my pov. Another part that I found it super hilarious but also scary is their drinking culture, I think there was like at least one drinking scene every single episode! How every time they just go all out and get dead drunk~

On the weaker side of this story, I would say it's the lack of depth of the overall theme of this drama. But I also understand the production crew's pov as it is supposed to be light-hearted and healing story. Just thought that the suspense part will disappoint many ppl as the story weren't able to provide a strong and logical reason for the antagonist's extreme actions. The illogical or weak thriller parts and reasonings has been an issue in K-dramas for a long time now especially so when I watched "Why Oh Soo Jae" and "You are My Spring" both led by Seo Hyun Jin. Hope they actually make the effort to improve on it.

All in all, I just love Do Hae Yi so much, she's like a burst of colour in my dull life! I wish I had such a friend in real life! I don't care how ppl criticize Han Ji Hyun and Bae In Hyuk having no chemistry or whatnot, one was supposed to be hyperactive while the other is supposed to be a awkward person because of their own difficulties. What's important is the message of the story, always look at the positive end so you can overcome obstacles in dark times. Don't always judge people badly based on their behavior because they may just end up be the ones helping you.

It's a happy ending don't worry! Just that there are many ups and downs in the story, but it is also a necessary built up for LX and ZY and everyone else's happy ending!

Dropped after a few episodes. To me this has the same problem as Master of my own and The autumn ballad. Why would…
hmm I don't think you get the FL's low self-esteem towards what she wants for her own future and having the confidence/'ownership" to make the decision which just nice the ML is the total opposite of her. In a way, she subconsciously look up to him while they worked together in the team and fell for him over time.

Obviously she didn't fell in love with him when the ML was acting like a bastard or when her friends were teasing her. Both of them only got closer when they had the chance to know more about each other's past and family background and why their personality became like this. Hope this helps with you understanding the story setup. I have read the original novel, some things definitely is different from the original story but they kept most it for the drama version.

So thankful that I chose to watch this drama despite seeing many fan/youtuber reviewers claiming that the story is very mediocre and the acting being very amateurish...

First things first, the story is definitely something you can have expectations, it's not as draggy or predictable like many youth romance dramas out there. I like that they tried to stay close to the original novel in terms of characters' characteristics and personality as well as their appearances.

Secondly, FINALLY there is a drama that has actors with good looks and suitable for their roles and I'm talking about all of the cast in this drama! Like I mean dramas of such genres are supposed to have actors with good outer appearances yet so many dramas these days uses actors either don't have the looks or don't even suit the role...

Thirdly, I do hear a lot negative comments about the leads' amateurish acting or not enough chemistry but honestly, I think these reviewers really just didn't like the actors themselves or are simply jumping onto the bandwagon to gain attention/profit. After watching the entire show, my first thoughts about Chen Fei Yu and Zhang Jing Yi is that they actually suit such roles and their expressions are no longer too emotionless or overly exaggerated as compared to past roles they played in.

I think the director definitely also did a good job trying to create the right atmosphere for the right moments which made every actor stood out for their character. Yes I do agree their acting has flaws and all but at least their speech delivery is done well unlike so many "idol" / traffic actors' shitty line delivery like they can't speak properly in normal days...

Fourthly, I'm glad this drama didn't try too hard forcing the so called "right moral values" into their script! I'm seeing so many dramas these few years ranging from propaganda dramas all the way to idol youth dramas putting unnecessary lines such as righteous moral values, justice and societal norms etc. For most of it, I'm totally fine with them including it as long as it fits the scenario, but the drama "New Life Beings" a period romance genre, really got on my nerves! I get that their story is about women breaking the caste system policies and all but really there is no need for these "hypocritical" lines just to show women can be on par with men...

So lastly, I just didn't like one part of this story which is the fact they made every "bad" character turn over a new leaf in such speechless ways except for Fang Zhi Jing. I'm not sure how the novel wrapped the ending but I think they could have done better in a less rigid manner.

I highly recommend anyone who hasn't watch or are hesitating to give it chance!
On Under the Queen's Umbrella Jan 18, 2023
One of the better dramas that I've watched in 2022! Honestly the story is nothing new but what's refreshing is the fact that all the characters had their individual charm to it and throughout the entire drama it has good pacing as compared to some dramas of 2022~ I like that Kim Hye Soo's Queen role resolves problems in an unconventional way unlike many palace plots.

What I really didn't like is the parts where the antagonists gets overthrown so easily even though they plotted their treason for such a long period... I was like waiting for the climax of the suspense that kept me hanging for so long and bam there was no plot twists or anything and things started to become rather predictable towards the end... What got me confused the most is the Premier Hwang Won Hyung got discarded by his own people so easily when he was so influential over the years that the King ruled...
On Lost Track of Time Sep 29, 2022
Though I would say this drama doesn't contain much romance or sugar scenes but surprisingly the story is solid enough to pull through 30 eps! It's interesting to see every episode with twists and turns but I would rather they shorten some of the draggy parts towards the middle of the story... Though I wouldn't it's exactly a strong female lead revenge drama as FL still receives and made use of a lot help from the guys, it's also rare to see FL and ML being independent and has a clear goal in mind! There are certainly quite a fair bit of flaws which contributed to the draggy scenes but overall I really recommend everyone to come watch, give these lesser known actors a chance to shine!

The cases are based on real court cases in Korea. This is a legal drama, so not sure what you meant by "unnecessary…
Hmm ok so I read the news and obviously couldn't understand certain parts of it due to the translator... One thing for sure is I honestly don't trust so much of the Korean news outlets due to the fact that they often times over glorify the content of their articles, issues with interviewers and interviewees generally going with the flow of the trends instead of staying as neutral parties during the interviews... I'm sure if you have watched contents/news reports from Korea long enough, you are aware that their news and official reports is often misleading/on the extreme especially political and entertainment related topics for the sake of quickly gaining news viewership in order for them to stand firm in the industry.

And like I mentioned previously, I have no issues with the validity of the cases whether it's made up or real life cases, it's the depth of the overall content that disappoints me a lot and the cases is part of the 3 focus points. I'm not here to debate what's right or wrong, am just sharing my views as an overseas viewer after watching the show purely based on its own content setup.

The cases are based on real court cases in Korea. This is a legal drama, so not sure what you meant by "unnecessary…
I am not questioning the validity of the cases used but rather how superficially the writers had made it like a tool to only showcase the development of FL or to deepen the relationship of FL and ML... If you have read through my comment then I'm sure you would have understood my pov. And now that I know it is based off real cases, I'm felt even more disappointed that these cases aren't displayed with enough depth. And the fact that FL and other new hired lawyers didn't have to start as associate lawyers is a big shock to me too because this isn't the case in many countries' law firms... (correct me if I'm wrong in case Korea don't have such hierarchy for law firms)

If you have time, go watch Small & Mighty, a Taiwanese legal drama and I've got to say their way of handling the content and seriousness of the cases are done with much more focus. The other drama also has its flaws but I'm just saying Korea legal romance dramas seems to always lack seriousness in court cases although I know this is their culture and environment.
On Extraordinary Attorney Woo Sep 12, 2022
Ok let me clarify myself! I really love the chemistry of the cast members and all of them honestly exceeded my expectations of them playing their roles even if it was just a supporting role^^ The acting and production quality definitely deserve a lot of praise. What I felt ridiculous is the story content!

1. The unnecessary cases used in every episode
I get it that it is a legal genre drama and the need to showcase FL's genius talents but why do I feel even me as an commoner with limited law knowledge sees through the loopholes of the cases and can easily win with the loopholes?? I don't think people working in law industries studied so many hellish years just to be so careless and not detail oriented like what was showed in the drama...

Eg. first case FL handled was her former landlord and they actually debated so long forgetting the fact the doctor's diagnosis may be biased as he clearly say his examination is based on police reports as well... In the lottery case felt the most stupid one for me! I can't believe they used such a case just to deepen the ML and FL's relationship... Like every bloody gambler understands the serious trouble they will face if they ever steps into court for whatever reason and here the client just casually ask for a court settlement as though he's from some alien planet who's not tied to any legal regulations and even after the settlement, I'm shocked they weren't caught for illegal gambling when the court and police knew about it... This just give the wrong impression to young audiences that legal feuds are superficial and not the true reality.

2. Professionalism of senior lawyers that made my eyes rolled~
While the drama tried to show the vastly different working styles of Kim Myung Suk and Jang Seung Jun, I can only say you will never find any of these type of lawyers in huge law firms... Sure there are senior mentor lawyers who are very nice and easy to work with but seriously why do the scriptwriter had to portray Jang Seung Jun's character this way??? I know he is an small role only but I literally felt my IQ being forced to drop whenever it's his scenes!!! I have never seen such a lawyer with such poor professionalism like he just graduated from college or what. Yes it's not possible to win every single case even as a senior lawyer but I can say that lawyers from renowned law firms are super cautious with how they phrase their words in court hearings in case there are loopholes caught by the opposing party and he confidently goes on sprouting all the arrogant words in court... And the fact that he didn't do a thorough check on what's the judge's personality and level of work ethics before inviting him to a meal is laughable, categorizing as though every judge is corrupted... (well I know many law workers are corrupted but it's always better be safe than sorry)

3. Woo Young Woo's overly generalized autism
I must say I loved how she acted out during the start of the show but honestly as time goes by, her way of expressing and actions seem to become more and more like a normal person... I'm not saying it's her problem but as I've worked with colleagues with special needs, the way she could quickly accept and get over the fact that she got kicked out of one case is totally not realistic... In fact people with this condition even if it is just slight autism is unable to process new or sudden changes quickly due to the fact their brain lacks certain functioning which made it difficult to register sudden changes or denial...

So all in all, maybe because I'm seeing how real society work now that I'm in my mid twenties as compared to when I was just a teenager, it is difficult for me to overlook the issues mentioned. Maybe if I'm still in my teens, I will think these matters are not important as it doesn't affect me in anyway and just focus on the romantic parts between the FL and ML.

Nope you don't need to watch both seasons to understand the story but it's encouraged if you want to have the best experience! I actually watched both seasons within 2 weeks~
On Growing Pain Season 2 Aug 19, 2022
Honestly it's been really a long time since I saw drama could maintain their production standard so coherent for both seasons! I saw both seasons back to back and I've to praise them for elevating this season's quality to another level! Yes I do understand viewers who are used to fast romance or illogical romance plot that doesn't require brain cells kind of dramas may find this drama boring and slow but because it is indeed a family and youth drama thus it's completely logical and appropriate that they filmed this way.

I think season 2 gave us a more thought provoking story showing the difference between true reality and the assumed "reality". Even FL's parents' also had a hard time adjusting when mid-live crisis hit the mom, until when she found a new balance to her 2nd job. Lin Miao Miao here definitely showed how her unyielding and reckless personality became a double-edged sword once she stepped into the working world.

I think all the four friends all went through tough times that was inevitable due to the fact of how restless our society has become. But really having friends like this is truly rare and precious, even though they could no longer be always together 24/7 but each of them understood that someone will back them up when a situation arises.

Highly recommend to season 2 if you found season 1 interesting as well! I like the level of romance they provided in the end product even though we all know they actually had more intimate scenes for the lead couple~

Title Growing Pain
So I watched both season 1 and 2 back to back and I had a blast even though I had more things to worry about my life! This is certainly one of the most down to earth kind of quality C-drama that is rarely produce in China now due to their restless market.

What I really love about the production is the fact that they kept the story very close to our real daily life and include a lot of current affairs related to our ever changing society and education system. Even the depiction is very real of how Lin Miao Miao engrossing herself into becoming a internet celebrity after realising she could make money like this too right before the moment of their major graduating exams which is super important for the Chinese...

Another would be the unknown sacrifices the parents made for their kids and many of times, is not appreciated by the kids thinking the parents forced them too much. But I think that's the reality of gap that exist everywhere... When we are young, we never understand why our parents kept pushing us to do what we don't like/ not good at but once we grow up and start to step out of our safety net to see the real working world, we realised why our parents were so obsessed with sculpting us into what they hope for. Well I do understand there are parents who take things to extremely but most of the parents are indeed doing it because they don't wish for us to be at an disadvantage.

Another point is that I love how the four friends slowly understanding each other's pain and past scars. As I watched, I realised that all four of them actually had pulled each other up when one is suffering and subtle care they had for each other...

One thing I learnt myself after meeting people of all sorts, true friends will always try to lend a helping hand or give you a push when they saw you may need it even if we do not contact each other in a long time, whereas so called "friends" will only be there in good peaceful times and turn all quiet when you reach out to them. I always hate those "friends" who are like social butterflies and always in huge groups... Not that they are bad people but they can never focus on one person much less a sincere heart to heart talk.

Super highly recommend to anyone who has not watch! It's really been long time since a drama that doesn't contain any filler scenes and idiotic plots... Though this season does not touch on romance yet but you can expect a lot in season 2!

Title Anna Spoiler
Just completed this drama today and I'd say the drama used quite a thought provoking way to tell its story. It's overall a very depressing and gloomy story to the point that I also felt affected as the story progressed... So Lee Yumi played by Suzy actually reflects many moments of our lives under certain circumstances. She came from a very ordinary but loving/supportive family, while she could have also lived a very peaceful and mediocre life but I think what really made her change was in fact meeting Colonel Philips's wife who was hinted as delusional by her husband...

The wife had taught her a lot of things and a few of it is how to keep a poker face and not allowing other people to guess what she is thinking or perhaps even lying... All of this had influenced her a lot even though she wasn't aware of it herself. One would be when she was in a ballet school and at that moment she is seen lying very comfortably already. Honestly, she could have been honest about her background and just ignore people's gossip but she couldn't because all along she felt her false/delusional character setup would breakdown...

I could relate to her feelings when she wanted to live up to her parents' anticipations and lied about making it to college which I think I would have also done the same if I was in her shoes. I do think in her own generalisation, she has been thinking how everyone would just look down on her if she had been honest about her situation. For her marriage, I do think it's really the same type of people attracts each other but obviously her husband was even more evil and ambitious, even resorting to locking her in a mental hospital to protect his achievements.

In the last episode, she was seen burning the car and her husband which was a relief where she finally decided to break away from her own shell and go live a quiet life which she yearns. What I thought was quite the irony is the fact that people give 100% trust when she lies but when she was very honest with her words, people doubted her instead (last episode)... It does seemed that the director wanted to rely the message about how low inclusiveness are in our society towards things or experiences we are not exposed to, that we rather trust unconditionally towards the "norm known"

Overall, a great drama of a rather underrated genre! Yumi did all this because she thought this the only way to get highly respected in the society and able to live a comfortable live which she didn't after living a life of a copied identity.
